2012 South Carolina GOP Primary Thread

Nice find. Finally low voter turn out will hurt the republican candidate.

Huntsman is gone, and magically no climate change questions.

He doesn’t have to worry about facts. Factoids though, are priceless.

Perry stop making texans look bad you Dumas.

Ron Paul is dishing out morals to the wrong crowd.

If you replay the intro to the candidates, fox gives everyone except Paul like 5 seconds, and the cameras cut off dr. Paul after 1 or 2.

Gingrich, where were republican calls for requirements during the bank bailouts?

Time Out for O/T – Vol. 18

Bolivia, what happens when you ignore western financial influence…

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/cifamerica/2012/mar/21/bolivia-washington-consensus

It starts out on a quite a low point, but it gets better!

CL, I know I am late to the conversation…

It appears from some other comments that his appearance matters and expected side effects of chemo are not going to help…

so, here is a TED talk I recently watched that discusses a tech that uses electric fields (think moving magnetic fields) to stop cancer growth while leaving healthy cells viable. I.e. same results as chemo, none of the side effects. Not sure if they have a lymphoma designed treatment.

http://www.ted.com/talks/bill_doyle_treating_cancer_with_electric_fields.html

Also, I saw you passively mention weed… You likely know the research that shows THC kills cancer and with CBD (another cannabinoid found in MJ inversely related to THC) you can have the treatment without the high.

http://www.hailmaryjane.com/study-finds-thc-kills-cancer-cells-dea-will-still-arrest-cancer-patients-smoking-herb/

And this last one, IMO, is less reliable… kind of has the signs of quack science, but there may be something to it if what is said in the documentary is true.

I would look into the first two, and or relay the information to the Father.

In this situation my parents would totally use guilt to change my mind… Of course, the best option was mentioned by Kes, take all available paths, because life is priceless.

The Keiser Report had a guest on, I believe yesterdays show, discussing the op-ed.

He said that everyone knows how GS treats and thinks of its customers, but they have to use them or risk not entering the market. GS also uses its influence to gain more customers, by again, controlling the gates to market.

woops, accidently voted your comment down…

I think in a Daily Planet “The Authoritarians” by Bob Altemeyer was mentioned. It relates quite well to the above findings.

Demo in Dresden …

Even worse (remember the BART police incident)… this is really f-ed up, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKy-WSZMklc&feature=player_embedded#!

Grover N. on msnbc implied that only poor and middle class people smoke… and the only 1%er who does is Obama…

On a comedic note, if you missed the “Obama flips the Script on Republicans” skit on Key and Peele, it was pretty amusing.

and Unrepentant Marxist (blogger) created a site called NorthStar… does not necessarily reflect all my views, but the humor page had some nice pictures. http://www.thenorthstar.info/?page_id=194

Maybe he is “evolving” on it… lets hope it is at the speed of micro-evolution 😛

Once a state legalizes it, or in my states case, regulate it like alcohol, things should progress quickly. That is just my feeling about the issue, and I think Colorado will be the first state to have it pass.

» Posted By invient On February 29, 2012 @ 3:45 pm

Yeah, it amazes me how many comments I read where people just assume the fight is over, especially of the left variety. Hubris is an excuse to procrastinate.

If the right is as anti-Obama as I believe, there will be more enthusiasm among the righties… However, if they stay home because of their disdain for the establishment candidate then IMO it is a toss up.

in case anyone here is a Maher fan, or just enjoys some political comedy… starts tonight!

» Posted By invient On February 23, 2012 @ 9:34 am

I agree with Maher. If you believe there is no god, it is necessary that religious people be critized precisely because it does harm society. Agnostics may be aligned better with science in the sense that god becomes an open question, as long as they follow occams razor. The problem with being agnostic is that there are always more religious claiming that god does exist, while the agnostic shrugs, the atheist must fight.

I don’t actively go out and debate atheism vs theism, but when someone brings it up, or tries to convert me, I have a duty to.

Totally unpolitical. I’m making kombucha, I sort of am winging it, typical recipes call for 1 cup table sugar per gallon, I used 1 cup sugar and half cup dextrose per gallon. The “mother” is forming, albeit irregularly shaped. Apparently dextrose, I.e. pure glucose, will help increase the Gluconic acids produced by The yeast and bacteria which is good for the liver. I used store bought cultures to start the batch, it’s smellin pretty good!!!!

The Occupy Wall Street Thread

I’m not sure if this has been posted before, but its worth posting again.

At OccupyDC three people were hit by a car, this is their side of the story along with a representative from the DC-PD trying to say the protesters were drunk and jumped in front of the vehicle… they let the driver go, and gave tickets to the protesters.

I find it amusing that the article never mentions a source by name… its always a source says or said or close to [[insert hated organization]] …

They deleted my comment on the article…

The net is only as controllable as you want it to be…

For your social networking, there is a program called Diaspora, developed by undergrads at MIT, that no one will be able to control…

For your search engine, there is a program called YaCy…

If you have the technical skills, there is a project done by I believe UC-Berkley using a structure called a distributed hash-table, that pretty much allows you to implement all the above programs, and more. (its called Bamboo)

Lastly, there is a growing group of professionals who have become worried about the power of small groups of individuals, companies, government, to control the internet… they have been meeting in New York every year… cant remember the name of the group, but be assured many smart people are working on keeping the internet truly free from influence.

I would like to point out that since Bernie Sanders had the Fed audited, and 16 trillion dollars was used to not only bail out US banks but also European banks as well.

With that, they could have wiped out all US debt, but of course this would have caused massive inflation immediately… by giving it to the banks, to cook their books, they were able to keep them afloat and keep the true money supply hidden.

The blame of the first crisis may have been our fault (i.e. home buyers without the ability to pay, financing life-styles on credit cards, student loans we wont be able to pay back…), of course you would have to be blind to see the predatory loans on the poor, and so on… but the second coming crisis we can blame completely on monetary policy and the so called economic intellectuals of our time (and the wealthy, who deserve the Rosanne Barr hair cut IMO)…

Most crimes of this nature go unreported, it is IMO understandable that they waited to come out. At the time of the alleged act, Cain was not possibly going to become the candidate.

Perhaps she should of waited for him to become the nominee, but she is also a republican and it would make sense to not wait knowing what he allegedly did.

There are all sorts of motivations for her to come out now, rather than before. The most telling for me that this is legit, is that she is accepting no funds for any interviews and Cain on late night shows was joking about it.

I just wanted to recommend a novel for everyone on their spare time… IMO it should be read first, then Brave New World.

“Player Piano”, http://www.amazon.com/Player-Piano-Novel-Kurt-Vonnegut/dp/0385333781

I just wanted to come in a drop a few recommendations for two documentaries.

An Unreasonable Man – it is about Ralph Nader, before watching this I knew him as the green party candidate that cost democrats elections. I have much more respect for him now.

“All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace” – about human behavior and the evolution of the ideas behind it. Pretty fascinating, however I hope nurture has a bigger role than it suggests.

I always thought congress had that power? In the worst case, an infinite cycle of congress passing a law overruling the courts, and then the courts could overrule them if a case is brought to them… and so on…
