LIVE BLOG: Florida GOP Primary 2012 or “Can $16 Million in Negative Ads Buy an Election?”

Ad, too true. I expect this of the candidates. What’s surprising is that I haven’t heard even one question from the MSM about this issue.

Does this go back to my theory that if the MSM completely discredits the right, they’ll run out of enough material to fill 24 hrs? I hope my cynical suspicion isn’t true.

Hey Planeteers: Remember when the deficit was the most important thing in the world? I sure do. It was way back in 2010. Every single Republican in office or out of office rent their garments, shed crocodile tears, and pulled their hair over the size of the national debt and the deficit.

During the election of 2012, one would think this is a hot topic for the GOP primaries right?

Does anyone remember one question from the MSM during the 231 debates about how Mitt Romney’s tax plan is estimated to add nearly 2 trillion to the deficit 2015? Or how he expects to reconcile dramatically lower tax receipts with his promise to reduce the deficit and national debt?

Gingrich’s plan adds 3 trillion to the deficit in just 3 years.

How do any of these candidates propose to reconcile the 15-20% cut in revenue, and the 1% cut in domestic gdp due to reduced govt. spending somehow making the deficit smaller?

I guess we’ll never know until the general election. Maybe not even then.

Perhaps they’re rentals?

This is what Newt’s room really looked like before his speech. Tight camera angles can only work so well. Plus he had a hardware convention in the other room. Apparently a lot of the audience were hardware guys wandering over to see what was going on. 🙂

The inevitable Romney bataan death march to the nomination continues. Why can’t the GOP rally around Willard in disgruntled resignation? He’s all they have!!

I am really pulling for the four horsemen to keep the bleeding up for another few months.

The Daily Planet, Vol. 197

How would Apple have any idea that this is going on in their Chinese factories? After all, the only other mention I’ve seen of this was in WIRED magazine. They ran a 10-page expose on this about 6 months ago.

And I’m sure no one at Apple has ever ever ever heard of or seen that article.

AB, speaking of which:

Ken Jennings @KenJennings
Newt scares me, but I think it’s mostly because of his resemblance to that evil floating white ball thing from The Prisoner.

Murph, you’ve got to learn to tune in to the cosmos man. Anything is possible if you do.

AB: LOL, he’s fluffy-boned.

We did however score some new Virginia-class submarines for a cool 2 billion though. That should help.

Ana Marie Cox @anamariecox

Lack of applause for Newt’s “Castro is going to the Other Place” line has me wondering if audience are, in fact, English speakers. Or alive.

What if we threw a war and no one came?

Haunting thought for a Republican.

Why are conservatives deathly afraid of imaginary things, or things that MIGHT happen, but strangely un-afraid of real things that are happening right now?

Remember when Barney Frank and the poor forced Latvian, Spanish, Irish, Icelandic, British and Italian banks to also loan to poor credit risks?

Newt would like you to.

Remember when all of the billionaires in the 90’s had to sell fruit and flowers on the side of the road to make ends meet?

Mitt would like you to.

Damn West Coast. Grrrr.

Of course by now, I could probably just wing it and nobody would know any better.

It’s Romney v. Newt in a no-holds barred battle of the Network Stars: Romney is likely to open with this new move:

Romney: “You need to return money you got from Fannie and Freddie while you were a ‘historian’ under their employ”

Newt will counter with:

“Solo! Hay lapa no ya, Solo! Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha. Han, mah bukee, keel-ee caleya ku kah. Wanta dah …”

Romney breaks down in tears, the crowd goes apeshit….

The Daily Planet, Vol. 193

It’s utterly disgusting. What’s even more disgusting is how creeping normalcy has set in that this is just how things are done and how things are.

Sue, to be fair, they do now employ netting below the factory windows to catch the jumpers.

You have to give them that.

I’d like to address Mr. Todd’s rant: People that “idolize” things tend to be easily offended.

Perhaps Mr. Tool, I mean Mr. Toad, I mean Mr. Todd should employ a bit more journalistic objectivity and detachment before shooting his fat mouth off.

Cher, obviously Apple isn’t the only one outsourcing their work overseas. You are doing it too! There is no way that one person could churn out this amount of content. Admit it, you have several H-1’s living in your basement helping you run the Daily Planet.

Wow!!

Newt’s tax return. His individual tax return that is.

And his foundation.

Pretty unremarkable except for a big liquidation of assets in April 2010

That’s a good point.
