Time Out for OT – Vol 10

The line between sport hunters and big game trophy hunters is infinittesimal to non existent. Big game trophy hunters are wealthy, pay big bucks for guides, will travel anywhaere to get a trophy, and generally don’t have any appreciation for the life they are taking. A sport hunter might eat what they kill but is not hunting primarily for subsistence.

Why bother me with rhetorical questions? You know as well as I do that there is no one person or group of people in the US excluding Alsaska who is primarily a subsistence hunter. You also know as well as I do there are no subsistence farmers. The question you should be asking is, why are big game big trophy hunters and left wing animal rights people on the same side in this.

You have missed the point entirely.

I agree absolutely. The thrill is in the chase. The problem of course is conflict between megabillion dollar interests of ranchers and hunters. The odd bedfellows now are big time trophy hunters who give hunting a black eye and animal rights people. The sad thing is the subsistence hunter is lost in all this.

I am advocating the same thing the left wing trolls and animal rights people are advocating. Letting nature take its course. Hunting for food is part of nature.

I guess left wing trolls would rather see the wild horses suffer by not having enough food through overgrazing. Left wing trolls would rather see ranchers get fat by having the wild horses rouded up with helicopters so the horses don’t compete with livestock for food and water. Left wing trolls would rather see ranchers get fat taking government money to warehouse the wild horses after they are rounded up then sold to the glue factory when they get old and feeble. Please. Spare me about what I should stick to. Left wing trolls need to discover their ancient heritage. Right wing trolls need to discover the facts of life.

So, as everyone can see from my name and my gravatar, I’m a hunter. I have a collection of about 6 or 7 sporting arms and 3 strictly defensive arms. And if I didn’t have severe arthritis I would be out in the field doing what humans have done for millions of years. But I find this very sad.

Both for the horses and for us. State and federal agencies in the west have catered to ranchers and for years. They drill wells and put up windmills to create oasis in the desert for livestock and wildlife. Doing this has benefited the wild horses. If the animal rights people want nature to take it’s course, well, DUUHHHHH! Hunters are part of nature. If a hunter takes a horse and doesn’t want the meat, take the meat to the homeless shelter. What about the pet food factory. Having a legal wild horse hunt would cull the heard and save the state and federal governments money. But NOOOOOOO, the ranchers are getting fat so they are the ones responsible for this outrage.
