Time Out for O/T – Vol. 2

I hadn’t watched this in several months — yet it’s made me cry all over again. It’s very sad that we as human beings can’t or won’t provide the same comfort for one another.

It always has to be divisive — me, you, pointing fingers, us, them, Republican, Democrat, and on and on.

And? In the end, we all end up in the same place. No one should be alone, and if we as humans are to stubborn or proud to be there for others — then God bless these beautiful animals and their owners.

BDM,

Moments with Baxter

Don’t know if anyone has seen this, but it’s been around for awhile. When I saw it the first time, I had mixed emotions. Right, wrong, or indifferent, it’s touching and this family loved Baxter dearly. Break out the tissues, you’ll need them.

Better than a Flu Shot!

Miss Beatrice, the church organist, Was in her eighties
And had never been married.

She was admired for her sweetness
And kindness to all.

One afternoon the pastor
Came to call on her and she showed him
into her quaint sitting room.

She invited him to have a seat while
she prepared tea…

As he sat facing her old Hammond organ,
The young minister

Noticed a cut glass bowl
Sitting on top of it.

The bowl was filled
With water, and in the water
Floated, of all things, a
condom!

When she returned With tea and scones,
They began to chat.

The pastor tried to stifle his
curiosity
About the bowl of water and its
strange floater, but soon it got the better of him
and he could no longer resist.

‘Miss Beatrice’, he said,

‘I wonder if you would tell me about
this?’

Pointing to the bowl.

‘Oh, yes,’ she replied, ‘Isn’t it
wonderful?

I was walking through

The Park a few months ago

And I found this little package on the
ground.

The directions said

To place it on the organ,

Keep it wet and that it would prevent
the spread of disease.. Do you know I haven’t had the flu all winter.

nellie,

I came across this yesterday and thought you might be interested.

Tiger…

I couldn’t agree more!

» Posted By boomer1949 On January 26, 2010 @ 9:43 am

oh nellie,

I never thought she got her due 10 years ago here in the US. Hate to admit (but so what) the first time I heard this was exactly 10 years ago, after work, during Happy Hour, on a Friday night. I have the CD from then.

This version — her voice — 10 years later — is nothing short of phenomenal.

Dear Auntie,

You need to hang around here on a regular basis, dear. Dr. Suits is the tip of the iceberg; your contributions will only add to the success of The Planet.

Okay everyone — nothing political Chavez, Obama, International or otherwise…please cut me some good old fashioned slack…and apparently leftover from Friday Night’s Ramp Up to Vox Populi… πŸ™‚ Thanks 😳

I was hangin’ around http://www.pbs.org looking for something completely unrelated to this (okay, I was looking for a recipe from Everyday Food πŸ™„ ) .

I found Bill Moyers Journal; it aired January 15, 2010.

Thank you, kesmarn and it felt pretty damn satisfying to his “Send”.

Sue,

I sent it to Info@huffingtonpost.com

It was the only email address that made any sense.

If nothing else, it’ll make you feel better. I think I may even convert it to Word and actually send an old fashion snail mail letter.

πŸ˜† Excellent!!!

Thank you bito, I seem to be on my soapbox today. I guess my boss needs to go out of town for an entire week more often!

I read further down the page, and your news sucks; pure and simple it just sucks. I’m right there in unison with everyone — please count me in if there is anything — absolutely anything I/we can do.

Hello Everyone,

I just sent this to Ms. Huffington and her toadies:

Dear Ms. Huffington and Editorial Staff:

I am not sure what has happened at HuffingtonPost over the last twelve months, but whatever it is, I dislike it. I disliked it so much I canceled my account a month ago.

However, I had been thinking about doing so since shortly after President Obama took the Oath of Office. I thought the negativity, the nasty comments permitted on the threads, over zealous moderating, censure and banning were just figments of my imagination. I kept giving you one more day, one more week, one more month. When it only got worse, and you did nothing to assuage my concern, I gave up on you. I realized HuffingtonPost had become nothing more than a tabloid.

What you call journalism, Ms. Huffington, is nothing but a three ring circus, with so many things happening at once, your audience does not realize you are peddling snake oil. You suck people in with your flashy headlines, inaccurate reporting (if one can call it reporting), supporting President Obama one day, then stabbing him in the back the next. You and your toadies have flip flopped on so many issues, you have incited confusion, distrust, hatefulness, and utter chaos in the minds of many. How do you sleep at night?

Ms. Huffington, do you and your staff know the meaning of the word sedition? Maybe you should brush up on your vocabulary.

HuffingtonPost today is not the HuffingtonPost I enjoyed for two years. Your staff is out-of-control, and I think you should hang around the office more instead of flitting from talk show to talk show like Caribou Barbie. We all know where those performances got her — she landed a job at FOX!

Nonetheless, Ms. Huffington, I would like to thank you for stirring the pot, by taking advantage, by sticking your noses into areas of our government for which you have no training, and last but not least, commenting on topics for which you have no clue just to hear the sound of your own voice.

Ms. Huffington, you have succeeded in throwing many of your fans under the bus. However, we are resolved not to let you throw it in reverse to run over us again.

Sincerely,
boomer1949

Over at “the other place,” there is a thread asking people to review and comment on President Obama’s performance in the last 12 months.

I was reading, but not commenting and I ran across a post by Gretel1or2:

How would A H do as president after one year? Let’s take a poll and see.

Question:

Anyone know if the Queen Bee (I called her Cleopatra earlier today) has traded her three inch stilettos for hiking boots and gone to Haiti to help with the relief effort?

Time Out for OT – Vol 11

kes,

You’re too funny! Are you sure you’re not appearing at the Funny Bone disguised as an R.N.? πŸ˜†

» Posted By boomer1949 On November 29, 2010 @ 6:47 pm

Thank you kes, thank you. It just seems so simple, but “they” make it so darn complicated. Why are some humans so selfish?

And…somehow I just can’t picture Boehner, Cantor, or McConnell purchasing clothing for a family whose home burned to the ground a couple of weeks ago. Yet, this is what my “overpaid, teacher daughter” did last weekend. And, not because I’m looking for kudos, I did the same. Did I have the extra 50 bucks to spare? No, but I could not stand by and see little kids without warm clothes, food, or Christmas gifts.

I also wonder how these selfish assholes are able to sleep at night.

We really should refuse to pay for their HC insurance. They should be required to sacrifice the same as what they expect from everyone else. Selfish bastards…are you sure this isn’t Friday? πŸ˜†

» Posted By boomer1949 On November 29, 2010 @ 6:12 pm

Thanks bito,

I think what bothers me most is “they” think we’re all stoopid; it’s infuriating, absolutely infuriating.

It makes my head spin!

Boehner is a bigot, an opportunist, and only interested in advancing his sorry white ass (obviously never been to the tanning bed) political career; never mind he’s been in DC for 20+ years. Ex squeeze me?

It’s not like he is one of the “newbies” on the block. He’s obviously been around said block enough times to know how to manipulate it and the system; truth be known, he has contributed to the current state of affairs, the current economy and, more important, our image. Boehner is a piss-poor-representative for what we’re supposed to be about.

He is selfish, opportunistic, and as I said somewhere earlier, reminds me of two people in my life…my alcoholic father and an Uncle who was a bigot, who stole from every company he ever worked for, who everyone in the family despised, yet when he died, everyone (‘cept me) acted like he was a Saint.

I refused to go his funeral, and was admonished for the decision; my father HATED the man, yet because I refused to be a hypocrite, I wound up the black sheep. Pretty disgusting. Can we spell dysfunctional?

Nevertheless, Boehner, Cantor, & McConnell haven’t fooled me. Some of us have been around the block just as many times and can spot a fake faster than they can blink.

Now, please tell me how we can explain it to those more easily seduced?

» Posted By boomer1949 On November 29, 2010 @ 6:03 pm

Oh my goodness and here I thought it was Friday!

Dear me, I went off on a Facebook Tangent (my daughter will be sooo embarrassed), yet…I couldn’t help myself.

The only way to get the message across and into the thick skulls of these bigots is to NOT let up, we must keep reminding ourselves and others that their agenda has absolutely nothing to do with making this country better for all of us.

Yet we must increase the pressure on these Yahoos to produce SOMETHING in the short term, the same as they’ve DEMANDED from the Obama Administration. Period.

They just want to see President Obama fail. Go figure, but it isn’t rocket science either.

Now wouldn’t one think the “majority” party would want to make all things fair and square? Don’t bet on it; it has never been a priority or on their agenda.

The GOP/TP/Flannel-Shirt/Pick-Up Truck/Gun Rack/Bigoted SOBS have been getting off on the prospect of bringing the first African American POTUS to his knees since November 2008.

No time to take a breath or analyze. PRODUCE SPEAKER BOEHNER! PRODUCE!

WHERE ARE THE JOBS?

What are you going to do for the unemployed Tea Partiers you seduced into voting for you. WHAT?

Why are you holding the unemployed hostage to prove the point of your bigotry and to get this administration to cave to your “demands.” Sorry John Boy, but you really don’t like the fact that an African American is living in the White House…now do you? BTW…JB…I live in OH-IO. And, don’t become complacent…many of us see you for what y’all are; bigots and racists. John Boy, you remind me of a long deceased Uncle. You JB, are as much of an asshole as he was when I was 11 and that was 50 years ago.

None of these “white guys” (okay I realize John Boy has issues) could give a rat’s ass about anyone other than themselves and the corporations padding their wallets; oh, and some lobbyist MUST be paying for John Boy’s trips to the tanning bed, his Jergen’s Bronzer or, at the very least his propensity to enjoy Happy Hour on a daily basis.

Very disconcerting that there are Ohioans who can not even put food on the table much less have a Jack Daniels on the rocks, a straight up Martini, or freaking Bud Light because THEY CAN’T AFFORD IT!!! Yet, John seems to be able to…what’s wrong with this picture?

And…none of these Republican White Guys are happy. Why? Think about it. An African American family is living in “their White House.” Give me a freaking break and get a clue folks.

http://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=111073562295535&id=138529979532186&ref=notif&notif_t=like

What can I say? Way beyond annoying (and as I stated before, the daughter will be totally embarrassed). So be it. I refuse to have my tax dollars pay for a freaking faux tan and the health care benefits of a BIGOT and someone who wants to deny the same for any other Ohioan or American Citizen.

John and his “compatriots” need to be called to task, not given any breathing room, and should be able to produce ON DEMAND by God, ON DEMAND!! Fix it John Boy, fix it!!

Yet, today? He admitted he/they probably wouldn’t be able to. Jeeze, what a fucking surprise!
