LIVE BLOG – GOP Debate in FL

Please be advised, I’m not watching this debate at all. 😆

Normally a debate is where competing views are aired & analysed. In a Republican debate competing lies are aired all of which defy analysis.

Here’s a stupid question–if all these Republicans hate government so much, why do they want to be in it? #gopdebate

The Death of Troy Davis and Reasonable Doubt

AD, then get angry over this one before it’s too late.

I just don’t don’t want to be reading of the Clemons case as it was history and hearing about it as history like everyone is doing today about the Troy Davis case. He was convicted in 1991 and sentenced to death while a rape kit sits in the evidence room. Does his case have to wait until we are all writing “That WAS wrong” the day after? Now is the time to say “This IS wrong” and saying too late that it was an injustice. I want to rant before not after. Should we wait until it gets to the Roberts/Scalia/Thomas….court where the decision has already been made? That court has already has decided that it’s not doubt that matters it’s whether “the rules” were followed.

The issue is not Troy Davis and the injustice done. Troy Davis has been murdered. Long live Troy Davis. Now is time to concentrate on this injustice! https://planetpov.com/2011/09/01/time-out-for-ot-vol-17/#comment-151823
Start learning this name: Reginald Clemons

From Karoli’s words:

If we learn anything from the Troy Davis case, it should be this: The time to make noise is while there’s still time left, not at the eleventh hour. There should be pressure on anyone connected with this case to give it a fair, public hearing and arrive at a fair, just conclusion.

Lets not wait until we are typing: “Too Much Doubt” and adding AGAIN to the tag!

The GOP’s War on Women…at the State Level

KT, that was the very reason why states first passed laws allowing abortion, because too many middle class women were being maimed and killed by quacks.
There is/was a good site, I don’t have saved anymore, that has a good history on it.

atdnext, I think it was Angry Black Lady that had a post on the strange and wrong admiration of some so-called progressives and their admiration of R. Paul because of his somewhat anti-corporate rhetoric while actually being a polar opposite of progressive on 95% of all other issues.
I’m almost missing the “keep us out of the UN” and the anti-Mason talk and what about that “eye” on the dollar bill?

The following dividends are not qualified dividends.

Dividends paid on deposits with mutual savings banks, cooperative banks, credit unions, U.S. building and loan associations, U.S. savings and loan associations, federal savings and loan associations, and similar financial institutions. These amounts are reportable as interest income;

This is so wrong! We don’t just believe in tax cuts, there’s all those “job-killing regulations” we need to get rid of too!

Embracing Class Warfare

Another “face” of class warfare and the R’s depending on the voters to be ignorant!

Bachmann Claims Wall Street Reform Is ‘Killing The Banking Industry’ As Banks Post Record Profits

And not only repealing Obamacare, also repealing Dodd-Frank, which is killing the banking industry. I’ve got the bill to repeal both of them.

Huh? Killing the banking industry?

Some banks would be surprised to learn that they are on the verge of death, as they keep on reporting record profits. As ThinkProgress’ Alex Seitz-Wald noted when Newt Gingrich claimed that the banking industry was being killed by Dodd-Frank, “‘bank profits rose substantially‘ in the first quarter of the year, with banks showing the biggest profits since before the recession. Things were sunny in the second quarter as well”:

– Profits at JPMorgan Chase, the nation’s second largest bank, were up 13 percent.

– Third-largest Citigroup’s profits soared 23 percent.

– Fourth-largest Wells Fargo’s profits shot up 29 percent.

– Fifth-largest Goldman Sachs, meanwhile, “disappointed investors” when it merely “more than doubled its profits.”

–Sixth-largest Morgan Stanley’s profits were up an impressive 17 percent.

The actual Dodd-Frank bill was a bit unnecessary if the Bush Admin. would have “extorted” rules and regulations in the TARP bill when the banks were on the ropes. I can semi-blame the Dems (they controlled both houses) but the scenario presented to them was of “Pass this now or the economy will collapse, yesterday.

One “excuse” I have heard is it’s killing the smaller banks, possible, but I have two family members in banking, small regional banks and one said he had reached his payroll tax deductions in May. The Cut-off is 106,800 dollars, you do the math. Small banks suffering?

AdLib, on the news widget the other day their headline was something like “Obama’s plan is based mostly on taxing the rich.” And in the 2’nd paragraph it showed it was a balance between raising the taxes on the “rich” and cuts.
I know headlines are meant to be eye-catchers, but c’mon AP.

Meanwhile, the average household income has fallen 2.9% since 2009 and CEO pay has gone up 23%!

Damn right class warfare and we are losing!
