Morning monica and KT! I am sooooo envious of you both. Here in Vegas, it is a rare sight to experience a real thunderstorm and coming from both Pittsburgh and Chicago, I do so miss those evenings and nights of the thunder rolling in followed by the brilliance of the lightning, sitting on the front steps, taking it all in with a cup of tea. ahhhhh….good times! 🙂

CORRECT! But what I expect of these nations is for them to become more sophisticated in identifying the true culprits, the corporatist, the rich beyond measure who are the actual designers of the greed and rape of these nations. It has never been the simple, law abiding, gawd fearing everyday man and woman of America. In this, at least, we remain innocent, albeit somewhat gullible.

Where were they? Beats me! If I remember correctly however, Boehner also suggested it was Obama’s fault (like everything else happening in the world at large) AND there’d been no inspection since 1991. Obama became POTUS again, when? How about 2009? Prior to that, he was a Senator for …. Illinois? A far cry from the good state of West Virginia! To the best of my knowledge, Boehner is never, ever right about anything including but not limited to his obvious failure as a Speaker.

Oh dear…so sorry to hear of your dilemma. That’s a toughie. Though I can easily recall similar conversations with my now grown son, explaining to him when he was a child that many people believe we all go to heaven, he is now an agnostic so he’s clearly reached some conclusions as a adult on his own. I am certain however that it is not an issue young children should attempt to discern and whether one is religious or not, the notion of heaven, albeit temporary, is the way to go with young minds to resolve distress, at least until such time as when they are old enough to make their own conclusions. Suicide bombings…9/11 still boggles my mind and though I can understand frustration and outrage with a system that harms, taking innocent lives isn’t anything I can wrap my mind around. I’ve never been able to understand it and concluded not long ago that it will forever remain elusive, that understanding. How does one decide they have a right to take another’s life for whatever cause they are attempting to champion? I’m not obtuse, at least I don’t think so…I just can’t get there.

When I attended grammar school, we students recited this every morning. Ok….so that was a millennia ago, but there are states (California being one) who no longer allow for this and I’m wondering, why? Where is the harm?

A PR executive with IAC (the folks who own The Daily Beast & Match.com)tweeted a remark that ultimately got her fired. What she wrote was, “Going to Africa. Hope I don’t get AIDS. Just kidding. I’m white!”

She then offered an apology.

“Words cannot express how sorry I am, and how necessary it is for me to apologize to the people of South Africa, who I have offended due to a needless and careless tweet. There is an AIDS crisis taking place in this country, that we read about in America, but do not live with or face on a continuous basis. Unfortunately, it is terribly easy to be cavalier about an epidemic that one has never witnessed firsthand.”

My question is, did her remarks demand termination?

Last night my friend and I went to see the film, “Philomena”, a true story about a woman in Ireland circa 1952 who at 16 gave birth to a son, was sent to a convent by her embarrassed and ashamed family, and remained there for years doing slave labor seven days a week for the nuns who in turn, sold her son to an American family for $1000.00. Apparently THOUSANDS of babies were sold thus from these poor young women and to American families. I can’t express adequately how much this disturbed me on so many levels. The horrors of organized religion seems to have no bounds. The complicity of these presumably barren couples is daunting. It in fact is not the worst thing to happen to a couple, the inability to bear their own children. And no sooner that I believe, especially with the new Pope, that I might return to mass, I’m assaulted by yet another horror of the catholic church. My heartache lingers for these poor women, many of whom are still searching for their children.

Heard about that. I can just imagine how the parents instructed their attorney, “I don’t care what it takes, don’t let our son go to jail”. And how many civil lawsuits are there against them now? I wonder, do they still feel same way in light of losing an enormous portion of their fortune?

I’m not certain whether his beliefs are in fact a failure to transition the Bible’s scriptures or not. I’m not a minister. It doesn’t surprise me in the least that you’ve come across so many in LGBT community who are Christians as I’ve met quite a few myself. We could dialogue all day about interpretations of the Bible which was is not my intent. My point is and remains that as Christians gravitate to more acceptance for the LGBT community, and as gays gravitate to a more tolerable mindset of Christians, both sides need to be respectful and tolerant of each other’s views as what I see more most often is a condemnation from both sides! And particularly amongst gays who seem eager to throw all Christians out with the bath water. Not all Christians are unwilling or unable to accept the gay lifestyle and the vitriol towards them by the gay community is as harsh as some fanatical Christian groups about gays. Tolerance and acceptance is a two sided street.

Religious bullshit? Loud mouthed Christians? Oh dear, I see we may have to agree to disagree. I wouldn’t wish our rhetoric to deteriorate any further. I will continue to say however that tolerance is a two way street. As we must progress to accepting gays, so must gays accept those who follow the Bible. I’m not talking fanatics here. Just ordinary folks like myself.

I think tolerance is a two sided street KT. This man believes in the Bible or so he claims and has chosen Jesus Christ as his savior. Does the Bible not illustrate homosexuality as a form of bestiality? Does it not teach that homosexuality is immoral? Those were his words, used I believe directly from the Bible. Today we are being taught to be more accepting of those different than us and this is a good thing but for those who choose to honor the doctrines of the Bible, that’s a difficult road. Moreover, any criticism of the gay lifestyle is met with fierce intolerance. I would not ask a gay man or woman to change nor would I demand it of those who follow the Bible.

I would agree that A&E has the right to not only suspend but terminate. But I worry about what appears to be the loss of freedom of speech and only those with nothing to lose seem to have that freedom more and more.

Today John McCain spoke with Candy Crowley on CNN calling his initial remarks a “gross exaggeration” when he compared the occasion of the POTUS and Raul Castro shaking hands at Madiba’s services to an exchange between Hitler and Neville Chamberlain. He also pled guilty to the remarks as being “over the top”, an admission Crowley practically forced from him. What went so wrong for the maverick? It wasn’t like he was all that even before 2008. But why for a man of his years won’t he just retire? It’s gotten to the point that whenever he appears on the news, I feel myself becoming embarrassed for him. Having given us Sarah Palin, that’s what he will forever be remembered for and it’s not like he can do much about that at this point.

Unions are no good. I know of to many dues paying minorities who legitimately asked for help and what did they get? NADA! You don’t get to take dues and then not adequately represent ALL members. I see this happening all over our nation and frankly, doesn’t bother me one bit. They screwed themselves and my example is just ONE WAY of many. They were once needed and that was a very very long time ago, but now they only serve to piss off our corporatist bosses’ (now basically heads of state in most areas) by demanding to much! They’ve been out of control for decades now and corporatists have had it. I believe they contributed to the demise of Detroit and Pittsburgh (steel and auto) with demands that became ridiculous. So long unions….it was good knowing ya. Maybe we’ll need ja again in a couple of decades or two.

You assume that there won’t be a cover up IF in fact, the assailant’s actions can be attributed to right wing nuttery. If the assasination of a US President can be disguised for WHATEVER in hell it was, and I’m speaking specifically about JFK, then this would be a walk in the park. Why in hell would they reveal what you and I suspect? Even they are aware of potential consequences that would, with any luck, be a wake up call for those continuing to hang on to their rethug roots, ignoring the atrocious conduct of birthers, teabaggers, and right wing pundits.
