Kalima, actually I’m very glad about that – I believe it would put us newbies under too much stress, if we were to appear on the main. I don’t know how many of us published something other than comments so far.

That’s ok with me, DawgBone. Thanks for triggering the idea though – I still think it’s good to process what we experienced there and to figure out the mechanisms, as you had suggested in your post yesterday.

But I for one am not willing to let AH go off the hook so easily. While I’ve repeatedly stated that I’m grateful for her to bring us together (although for the wrong reasons) I do think her deceit and abuse of thousands of people should not go by just like this. Personally I couldn’t care less about her. Yet I think she’s enough dirt on her to publish a couple of well researched articles about her how things really are with her. After all she deceived the entire progressive community – and: she continues to publish as “the main voice of the Progressives”.

Did you notice, there was not much criticism in the media at large. Her Palin-like behavior let’s things slip through that are utterly un-acceptable. That’s one of the reasons why I’m not willing yet to let go. And: I want to understand the dynamics. How can something like this happen? I want to know!

It doesn’t matter where it is, Kalima. It’s fine in the media section under Huff, btw. We just hoped to bring together more information about our experiences and many want to figure out what was really going on. That was when we concluded we’d better do it together and therefore start this Invite for Collaboration. Yet Deygirl was so fast to publish, that we didn’t talk again how we want to proceed from here, so I try to figure out what she thinks, while I share my ideas. And then there were also chasethis and Dawgbone… and maybe some more people who would like to join?

Deygirl, this was a very good start. I think to proceed we could just make it an ongoing series to take it to the next level and to see how it develops. Just an idea: what if you include DB’s comment, which started off the whole enterprise and explain how we then (thanks to you) concluded, it would be a great idea to write an extended article together. As I understand it: at this stage we are collecting the material to do so. An important question to ask the readers then would also be: what is on your mind about Huff Post? Then you could invite those who want to join to write the next parts, asking what do we want to share about this subject. What do you think?

Someone should do a serious piece on HP comment section dynamics. It’s really rather interesting in a bizarre way. Paid trolls. Alphabet agency disinformation. Ego manipulation. Misleading, tabloid headlines designed to generate clicks.
A total and complete zoo and addictive at the same time. It’s good to be recovering from that.

In India they’re cashing in on men too. Indians, who are so beautiful, women and men alike, somehow think they have to have white skin to be good. That’s why the “fair-cream” market booms, and they make also one specially for gents. All the Bollywood stars are almost white and to my taste this looks ridiculous if anything!
Of course it has to do with class consciousness here. The darker the skin, the more down they are on the social ladder. Because those who work in the sun, for example farmers and construction workers have of course a much darker skin.

Thank you for bringing this up, abby. I always wondered what this Hollywood fuss was about. Once I saw a film about a youth band that was “promoted” by some corporate hacks. They forced the bands they “promoted” to put subliminals (if that’s the correct word) into their music, so all their young fans would buy a lot of stuff they really, really don’t need. In the end the courageous band leader defeated the corporate hacks after going through various very dangerous situations. But she didn’t want to sell out to them and she and her band crushed the hacks in the end.

As far as I’m informed advertisers do use subliminals – I forgot how exactly this is working – some music and words that are played in advertisements and that influence people on an subconscious level. So it seems those who profit from a perfect body don’t even shy away to manipulate even the subconsciousness of people. They have a vested interest in people having low self esteem and thinking they have to be different than they are to be ok.

And to conclude my comment: These are just more reasons why an open and accepting place like Planet POV is extremely valuable. Here we see it IS important to be the way we are. Each one contributes in his or her own way, and everybody has her or his own gift to bring to the table.

AdLib, I’ve contacted my bank concerning e-banking. They informed me that the recipient needs to give me a SWIFT or BIC code. So far I got only account No and Routingnumber.
Moreover the form that I have to fill for the payment asks for an address of the recipient, so I’m not sure if I can fill the form without one. Please email me.

There is one thing I truly value her for: she brought all of us together, by creating the HP community – although I’m aware she did so for the wrong reasons. But thanks to your and the other founders’ foresight and creativity, the Planet was already quite strong when fate corrected course and swept many more of us to The Planet….
