A Loving Heart

Everyone. As I’ve mentioned so many times before, you all have helped me see things from other perspectives and from knowing, understanding eyes. I do want so very much to think that I have some purpose left in my life…I just can’t see it. I struggle for clarity, direction and hope by the hour. I can think of nothing but my girls. I know that if I can just find work somewhere in these times to afford a place to live, I think I could begin to piece the 2nd half of my life together. Jesus, I feel like the biggest loser on earth. How did I get here? The worst part is feeling as though there is no place for me in the future. I feel like the world has passed me by. There are long stretches where it truly feels like I am dead, yet I keep going through the motions of the living. Empty.
All of your words rattle in my head and I love you all for them. I have lived a very strange, wonderful life until now. I’ve lived more, seen more, loved harder and have filled my soul with lifetimes of incredible moments that few ever have the chance to experience in 3 lives. All of this I know and am so very thankful for. I’ve always been able to see the way ahead even if the skies were dark and murky…this time I see nothing. At the end of everything I am just a photographer and a poet…not much call for my kind anymore. I’m a ghost in time. You all are my tether to this place and what little hope I have. You all are my greatest gift. Knowing you are out there in the ether sending me best wishes helps me find some direction.

Well, what is there to say? After losing everything in my life this year, this is the 1st Christmas I have ever spent alone. I miss my daughters more than words can express. My heart is just shattered and recovery may never happen for me. I am trying so very hard to keep my shit together and stand strong, but jesus…the holidays are rough.
I simply popped in to tell all of you how much you all mean to me even though we’ve never met. I have bad days and worse days and weird days. Yet, I can count on all of you for intellectual stimulation, a kind word and great Friday night music. You all mean a lot to me. Please hug your family and live in the beautiful moments. I will be thinking of all of you….Happy Holidays

Oh Lady,…I can’t know what you’re experiencing, but please stay strong. Heck , I look to YOU and your wise conversation here as an anchor sometimes. ~smile~
And like anchors, the stronger it is the better able the boat is to weather the strongest storms. Just know that I am here if you need to vent or yell or cry or whatever…

How old IS everyone in here, anyway? I’m 41.

I mean, I realize that’s a question I shouldn’t ask, but MY music tastes are fairly eclectic. People often say sort of brashly, “..You’re too YOUNG to remember that song !”…

To which I typically respond, “…that’s true, yet I listen to 150y/o Classical music, too…”….

Haha~

» Posted By TheRarestPatriot On December 18, 2009 @ 6:45 pm

I have never heard that song in my life…but I can dig it.

One of my very best cuts from the background soundtrack of my misspent youth….ahhhh…I really forgot how much I love this song…

» Posted By TheRarestPatriot On December 18, 2009 @ 6:07 pm

No offense to those with delicate sensibilities, but I have purposely, ..on more than 1 occasion, …made certain this song was in ‘the mix’ for the 2am seduction scenario….LOL~

Other than the entire Dark Side of the Moon album, of course….

» Posted By TheRarestPatriot On December 18, 2009 @ 5:52 pm

I vaguely remember this as background music to my younger days, as my sisters played this quite a bit. Wow…

My sisters are all gone now, but this song brought them right back…Thank you…

No other song, ever….has made me look down and see 100mph on the speedometer on a long open stretch of highway…and I had NO idea I was going that fast…LOL~

Oh God, …no, no….no, no, no…haha~

I think I was just a schlub in the right place at the right time. Heck, for all I know about the process…I could just be a blur in the background…LOL~

It was exciting though…tedious, but met some super, super neat people for sure. My fake date is a Nashville music singer and I just adored her. We just bonded in like the 1st hour and were inseparable after that. (almost like an ACTUAL couple…LOL) It was so much easier to act with her because we hit it off as friends. Two others buddies there had dates that when the scene was over they just disappeared until the next shot. I teased them both nights that they’d better reign in there dates….LMAO~

» Posted By TheRarestPatriot On December 18, 2009 @ 5:33 pm

LMAO, Q !

I’ll tell ya’ what, after working for 17hrs straight on the 1st day and 18hrs the next…if I do indeed have ‘IT’,…I’m going to the doctors office for a shot to kill ‘it’.!….LOL~

Hey everyone! I am back from Nashville, TN finally! I just couldn’t miss Friday Night music here….Haha~
As some might remember, I had a bit of serendipity earlier in the week by being asked to come to Nashville to shoot a few stills from the set of a new EPIX network TV series, TOUGH TRADE. This was there pilot episode and they’re banking on it going over well. The series is about a country music family dynasty with 3 generations of musicians that are all drunks, womanizers, and just broken people. As Nashville ‘royalty’ they have slipped from the good graces of the industry and are banking everything on the youngest musician of the family to rescue the family from crashing and burning. ~whew~
Anyway, once there, they said they had changed their minds and no longer needed me because their ‘regular’ photographer finally flew in from CA. Big friggin’ bummer…..

But then…wait for it…..they said, ” Hey!…we want you IN the movie!…Get over to wardrobe and get all countrified!”….I know…crazy, right? (no offense to anyone but I’m no huge fan of anything ‘country’, but this looked fun!)
We shot one scene for 2 days…almost straight…. I play a non-speaking role of VIP Nashville Record Producer at the bar where the youngest kid comes to play and bombs….We filmed all over the interior of the famous Cadillac Ranch bar and wow….what an experience! The ‘extras’ had to play bar patrons, standing, dancing, etc…There were 10 tables for the VIP guests at the stage and I and my fake wife/date are at one of the tables! (So they can’t cut us out of the shot…haha!)
I met, Trace Adkins, Sam Shepard, Claire van der Boom, Joey Lauren Adams, Lucas Black, Boyd Holbrook, Cary Elwes, and is directed by THE coolest director alive, Gavin Hood (he directed Rendition, Wolverine, etc.)
I got to meet them ALL and they were the most down to earth, funny ass people ever! Sam Shepard was a little cold, but I did get to shake his hand at the ‘Wrap Party’…He said I was THE best background actor he ever saw….Haha~ The rest of the crew said he NEVER speaks to people and that he must’ve really meant what he said….Cool~
If I knew how to upload a personal pic I could show you my outfit and my ‘fake date’….I don’t have a url…it’s local to my PC. Any ideas?

OK, …enough rambling…my apologies to Adlib. Wasn’t meaning to highjack the thread, but I thought this would the best forum for this tonight.
I will grab some music and sit back and enjoy the thread tonight. Great topic, too!

Not the Shortest Way

Geez, …beautiful….

thanks for this…It has reminded me of the beauty of a moment or memory. We do, indeed, need to be reminded to ‘dance’ as often as we can as though no one is looking, right?

..oh….and thanks for reducing me to a blubbering mess after reading this…geez…..~smirk~

Thanks to all of you for the virtual ‘terrorist fist bumps’! I better get to bed. Can’t have bleary eyes staring through that lens….LOL~

Maybe I can jump on late tomorrow from the hotel and tell you all the juicy on-set shenanigans!
Maybe someone will show their boobs or cheat on their spouses !

Then I can sell the tabloid story to HP !!! LMAO~

Night all..and thanks again! You all are great.

Thanks Adlib! I know it’s stupid to get all YIPPIE~ over something so mundane, but right now, anything is a deviation from the norm….LOL~

As a newly unemployed, nearly homeless middle aged guy, I humbly thank you.

Just had THE weirdest call! I am still spinning trying to figure this one out, but listen to this: (my apologies to Pepe as the thread had gone quiet for a bit, please feel free to move my comment)

Because of my many talents ~smirk~, months ago I wrote to a local talent agency in Nashville offering to provide some photography services to them for their talent…headshots, comp cards, etc…

Well, I just gotta a call from MGM/Viacom/Lionsgate talent recruiter and they want me to come to Nashville tomorrow and Thursday to shoot some on-scene stills of the cast and crew of the pilot of a show called, Tough Trade. Apparently I will be shooting Sam Shepard, Joey Lauren Adams, Boyd Holbrook and Claire van der Boom. I do not know who the last 3 are but I loved Sam in The Right Stuff!
Is that not the weirdest, out-of-the-blue, sh&t or what? Heck, they are even going to PAY me for 2 days on-set! Only a couple of hundred bux, but dang!….NEAT…MOVIE SET…!!!

I surely needed a positive event to recharge the Hope-ometer !…LOL

Lotta’ people, huh?

You DID see I was in a very RED state, right?….LMAO~

» Posted By TheRarestPatriot On December 15, 2009 @ 7:39 pm

That applies ONLY if you’re holding hands at the time you have to separate. LOL~

» Posted By TheRarestPatriot On December 15, 2009 @ 7:38 pm

Here in the all -powerful red states where to say ‘terrorist fist bump’ would mean you being dragged behind a pickup truck until the tailgate fell off…one is required to say “TATER” after a fist bump. Don’t ask…..I do not have an answer….LOL~

The Public Option Flatlines

My 2cents.

I feel that Dean is right. Perhaps not for same reason I see, but seriously…this bill stinks to high heavens. I guarantee not a single GOP will vote for it, so WTF? Jam in the public option or single payer and squish it through with 51 votes! Why is this so hard?

Also, the Dems are going to lose the majority next year if they vote for this bill. I just know it; Because I like to think I know the mind of Americans. They will feel like they’ve been sold out and now have a new burden to shoulder because the Dems had no balls.
NOW, if the Dems stand up and vote this bill DOWN, perhaps the voters will recognize the thought and disappointment that went in to having to let the president down. This will endear the Dems to the people again and maybe they’ll get voted back in. Then the bill could be studied further, re-written WITH Dems options AFTER the 2010 elections and resubmitted for a quick ram through behind the defeated GOP. Everyone wins, we have a public option and Obama gets re-elected. Finally healthcare for all…

~Blech~….Yep, it’s true…it’s gruesome and frequently painful to watch the sausage being made. I just don’t have the words to express my disdain over Lieberman. We knew he was a wishy-washy lunkhead years ago, but now we get to see the vengeful side, too.

But it remains to be said that we DO have the majority and there are those Dems that are spoiling for a fight one way or another. Do the Dems bail on this bill to fight another day to look good to their constituency or get voted out in 2010 because they’ve created a monster? Bad position to be in.

IMHO, I think they should walk the hell away from this stitched together, Frankenbill’s monster. At this point, there isn’t much I care for in this stew of capitulation. The GOP has voted NO on everything put through so far…this hack~n~slash quilt-work of ‘bipartisanship’ is a ‘ship’ alright….the Titanic.

I realize some reform is better than no reform, but…geez…the more I see the GOP just laughing and smiling at puppeteering the Dems just makes me feel dirty and disgusted…..
