The Occupy Wall Street Thread

Thanks! Good to be of service.

I have another guerrilla wiki at my domain that was the progenitor for those projects located here: http://gorgeaccess.net/ow/index.php?page=Main+page

It is in what I call AnoniWiki (1 wiki, 1 user) mode (no log-ins) that I put up in solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street volunteers. Just Post’n’Go. Anybody can make a page for their group. Easy to embed stuff there. Easy to update, too. Every user is a mod. One user+one wiki ready for divide by zero! Go, Go, 99%ers!

Hey Everybody! Long time no see, I know, but I still love youse guys.

I linked to this thread here:
http://ows.ettruck.com/story.php?title=the-occupy-wall-street-thread-%7C-planetpov

It’s a little place for folks to post links to news sort of like a mini Digg for the folks and friends of the Occupy movement, only totally non-commercial, hosting sponsored by my pal Carl.

If you do a blog post about the Occupy Wall Street phenomenon feel free to log-in and post a link to it in the Blogs-OWS section, or any other section that happens to be more appropriate.

Carl is also donating hosting for a MediaWiki install: http://owswiki.ettruck.com/wiki/Main_Page

Hope y’all that are behind OWS will find them useful or at least informative and, hopefully, fun!

Democracy Is Not Broken

I never thought so, either.

» Posted By TekVahana On February 11, 2011 @ 11:21 am

Didn’t the Democratic and Republican parties wrest control of the Presidential debates away from the League of Women Voters right after Mr. Perot’s first run for ‘Prez’ and give the handling of the debates over to a little ‘org’ they created together in order to shut out any other parties? Is that how democratic representational republics are supposed to function?

The Failure That is Fox News

The only thing missing from your post was the link to get that bumper sticker: TurnOffFox.org

And for fun here’s a little tune from another site:

50 Ways To Leave Your Blogger

A certain software company from Redmond was famous for creating Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt (FUD) to suppress sales of their competitor’s products.

Rove added a new element, creating Fear, Uncertainty, Confusion and Doubt. You can pronounce the acronym for that anyway you choose as long as the kids aren’t around if you happen to say it the way I do!

I wish I did. But I don’t do Windows. I’m getting the old “Busy or unresponsive script. Cancel or Continue” error dialog box twice on each page load in Firefox this evening that I wasn’t getting earlier. Any chance they are related?

One thing I hated about the ‘Po’ was there were just too many fracking scripts running on every page. Definitely not designed for accessibility from older hardware.

Lots better here from that stand point in spite of having to click ‘Continue’ and then repeat again for every page load. At least this one hasn’t crashed my browser like HP did if I hung out too long.

Not only looked at, but READ through top to bottom. After reading the TOU my first thought was ‘Ah! Civilization!. How nice!’

I never had any socks at HP. (The only time I ever use them is when I’m setting up a web thingamajingy and need a generic user ID to check the install out from that perspective instead of as an admin).

I hardly log in over there any more, usually just a short lurk for a quality check, and to see what my favorite peeps may have to say.

The quality has been going downhill for well over a year and never seems to get any better. It’s more tabloid and the ‘Maudes’ just keep getting goofier. Sorry to hear about so many folks getting the banhammer dropped on them for expressing themselves in any civilized manner.

I copied the PlanetPOV logo and re-sized it to one half and added it to the banner rotation of a small site I do volunteer work on, and will add PlanetPOV to the links pages on the few client sites I currently have when it’s OK with my them to do so. (Will also add a link in my sigs soonest). Best I can do to help promote PlanetPOV at this time. Need more graphic elements from 80×15 on up to 468×60. Is there a ‘link to us’ page I’m missing that has that kind of stuff? If not, I’ll try to knock a few together as soon as time allows.

Time Out for O/T – Vol. 15

Hey! Even the ‘Maudes’ for the /b/tards at 4chan are smarter than that.

Cool! I put it back to html and saved in a plain text file anyone can copy and stashed it here to help save everybody editing time: change.txt (right click to open in a new tab/window or save). Just save it with an htm or html extension and it’s a re-direct page!

Let me know when you get the js one up and I ‘ll be happy to rinse and repeat.

Doing blog posts about the great migration and adding PlanetPOV links as well as adding to sigs for emails and forums is another way to point folks here, too.
