I see where Trump, the crook-in-chief, has singlehandedly solved the immigration problem at the southern border. Apparently all that was needed was to threaten to destroy the economies of Mexico and the USA. Who knew? The stable genius has done it again. And the “wall” is no longer necessary.

I am cynical of crooks

https://fm-static.cnbc.com/awsmedia/chart/2019/4/31/Range%20bound.1559305667464.JPG

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/05/31/trumps-trade-wars-have-cost-the-stock-market-5-trillion-and-counting-deutsche-bank.html

What if? What if Trump, Mnuchin, Ross and Kudlow are telling their Wall Street friends when they are going to announce news related to tariffs, so they can short the market? Would anyone put that past Trump and friends? Whatever the problems are with trade imbalances with various nations, imposing tariffs on their products won’t harm those nations and it will cause more harm to American businesses and consumers than any of the nations tariffs are imposed on. So who gains from tariffs?

Since the market declines significantly when tariffs become effective and increases when progress is announced in trade negotiations, anyone who gets ahead of these wild fluctuations stand to make a lot of money. Trump and his cronies are crooks and I would not doubt for one second that they are using tariff rhetoric to cause the wild fluctuations.

I don’t know if this is actually happening and of course unless there is evidence that something illegal is being done, there is no justification for investigating Trump and his minions for manipulating the stock market. Just suffice it to say I am cynical of crooks.

THANK YOU for posting this link. I had not seen it. I think this is HUGE! If there is a lane for candidates who boldly stand for the rule of law, Warren has captured that lane.

I could not agree more.

THAT is a mouth-full Adlib, and I completely agree.

Watergate was then, this is now. There are currently ONE republican in Congress who is willing to put his patriotism over his party. That was not the case in the 1970s. No president has ever being convicted, although I suspect Nixon would have been. Common sense dictates that it is more politically risky to NOT impeach than to impeach. I will support primarying Democratic members of Congress who do not support impeachment.

If I were in his district I would vote for him, even as a Democrat.

We have critical mass in Americans calling for common sense gun control laws, yet Congress has rejected it until the 116th Congress in the House and still rejected in the republican controlled Senate. And there are many other things the House has passed in the current session that have died in the Senate. Just like Democrats will run on forcing republicans to explain their lack of support for kitchen table issues, they should also run on forcing republicans to explain why they did not support removing Trump from office. Of course, if they don’t impeach there is no reason to remove Trump from office and no reason for republicans to defend that position.

Every day that Trump has an appearance of winning because of his bullying delay tactics and lying, Democrats and the American people lose in the eyes of gullible people, and there are a LOT of gullible people who will be voting in 2020, as well as a LOT of people who will not vote at all UNLESS they are given some special incentive to vote.

I cannot believe Democratic leadership is expecting the American public to learn about Trump’s crimes unless someone LEADS them, when most Americans cannot identify the USA on a map of the USA. There is an interview of a Trump supporter being broadcast where she says before Mueller’s press conference the other day, she did not know there was anything negative about Trump in the Mueller Report. She also said she will STILL support Trump in 2020.

This is EXACTLY what separated Sen. Warren from the pack for me. She demonstrated the courage of her conviction by stating her position on impeachment without regard to polls, early on. I have suggested to her campaign that she commit to abolishing the DOJ policy of not indicting a sitting president, whether it is her or anyone else if it is proven that they committed crimes. Harris has suggested that she would have her Justice Department review the policy, but to me that is not good enough. IF we REALLY support the rule of law, we CANNOT allow even the suggestion or appearance that the POTUS is above the law.

Because of their political fear, Democrats are doing exactly what Trump and republicans want them to do. Democrats are ignoring their base, while republicans are doing what their base wants, in spite of knowing it is the wrong thing to do patriotically, even if it is the right thing to do politically. Were people motivated in the 2018 midterm election by health care, or were they motivated by holding Trump accountable and indeed impeaching him if impeachment is warranted? The same health care issues existed in 2016 that existed in 2018 and will exist in 2020. Many will still be motivated by defeating Trump in 2020, but many will be disenchanted by the lack of courage on the part of Democrats. ALWAYS do the right thing.

What if NOT impeaching get the very results Democratic leadership is afraid of? It is not a good look for Democratic leadership to base impeachment on politics. Nancy Pelosi and some of her supporters in this have said this very thing. Public servants have to be committed to doing the right things. The Constitution does not prescribe taking a poll before beginning impeachment proceedings. Pelosi and almost every congressional Democrat have said they believe Trump has committed impeachable offenses. If they don’t impeach, they are essentially saying they support Trump in committing those offenses. Not only that, but they give future republican presidents the okay to do those things. I don’t believe a Democrat would do those things, but even they could do them as it is apparently okay. I think most prudent Americans believe that although impeachment is a political process, it should not be based on politics, one way or the other.

I was with you until your Hillary comment. in 2016 Democrats nominated a Democrat who was in good standing with the party as our nominee. The primary reason Sanders lost the nomination is he is not a Democrat, although right now, I don’t know why anyone would want to be a Democrat.
The only “binary” reason to not select Hillary Clinton over Sanders or Trump is a misogynist bent.

Yesterday should have been a bad day for Trump and republicans, however it was not. It was not because congressional Democrats are cowards. Those people who have not been paying attention and have not seen and heard crimes committed by Trump and his minions with their own eyes and ears and are dependent on Mueller and others to tell them what to think, at least got Mueller’s confirmation of WHY he did not indict the traitors in the Trump administration. Those of us who already knew Trump and his minions are traitors are disappointed that we have such a weak-kneed opposition party that needs approval from the traitors before they can decided to do anything. Democrats, if you are not going to impeach Trump, stop trying to raise money by saying Trump needs to be impeached, and let him continue destroying the U.S. government in any way he chooses.

So we seemingly have two major political parties that don’t value the rule of law. One party has sold their souls to the devil, and the other is a political coward. Democratic leadership refuses to begin impeachment proceedings against Trump because they are afraid Republicans won’t vote for them. Earth to Democratic leadership!!! Republicans are not going to vote for you ANYWAY. Your immediate problem is keeping your current base. I will not vote for a candidate during the Democratic primaries who don’t support impeachment. A basic requirement of holding public office is a spine.

REVIEW: Predictable and Repetitive, Has American Politics Jumped the Shark?

Putin says traitors must be punished.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/vladimir-putin-says-liberalism-has-become-obsolete/ar-AADyiKu?ocid=spartandhp

Mr Putin made clear, however, that he had zero tolerance for spies who betrayed their country. “Treason is the gravest crime possible and traitors must be punished. I am not saying that the Salisbury incident is the way to do it . . . but traitors must be punished.”

Trump is a traitor because he and his campaign coordinated, colluded, conspired or whatever term one chooses to use, in influencing, tampering with, stealing the 2016 presidential election. Just the other day, Trump told a reporter that it is none of his business what he says to Putin in their private meetings. Trump’s attitude related to Russia is that he can do whatever he pleases and the American people can like it or lump it.
