I think we all might have had our own Mrs Robinson in our lives at one point, I know that I did.

From The Graduate – Simon & Garfunkel – Mrs. Robinson

Touche! I really should have thought of that…

» Posted By SmotPoker On January 18, 2014 @ 10:29 am

Indeed AdLib, and right now I find it quite appropriate. Everybodie’s talkin at me, I don’t hear a word their saying…

This one is a bit more on topic and also quite appropriate for me personally at the moment. It is also a fantastic film.

Harry Nilsson – Midnight Cowboy Theme, Everybody’s Talking

» Posted By SmotPoker On January 18, 2014 @ 10:19 am

Ha! Not sure if this song ever made into a film soundtrack or anything, but it is MOST DEFINITELY my personal theme song for the moment.

Simon & Garfunkel – The Sounds Of Silence

The Weekend Music Thread – Life, The Universe and Everything

This song was also used at my mom and the man I proudly call dad wedding. I picked it out, and they both loved it.

Here’s a nice little toe tapper from my misspent youth.

Steve Miller Band – Space Cowboy

When I was a kid, I wanted to be Will Robinson more than anything else in the world. Remember this one?

» Posted By SmotPoker On January 11, 2014 @ 7:27 pm

Surprised that nobody has thrown this classic up yet. I wore the groovees out of several copies of this album growing up. Awesome stuff.

Montrose – Space Station #5

The first time I heard this song, I was about 12 or 13 yr old, and was eyeball deep into The Hobbit, and The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. I always associated this song with Bilbo creeping through the mountain.

Trans Siberian Orchestra – Hall Of The Mountain King

Now for the obvious choice.

Cocaine Blues – Johnny Cash

I hear ya KT. I used to sell Orange Sunshine, and Purple Microdots way back in the day, and I’ve done my fair share of hallucinogens. Used to be my favorite high, but these days I stick to the fine high grade, world class cannabis I have at my disposal legally. I figure I got lucky surviving the stupidity of my youth with my invulnerability intact…

I get high, and I get creative as hell. That article I wrote a couple of weeks back was driven by a nice buzz. Last night while kind of participating in the weekly live chat I got to dreaming a bit, and came up with this. I’m not a rapper or anything so it could be a rap song or a poem I’m not sure at this point.

Citizen Sheep

Gotta work like a dog from dusk to dawn,
keep ya working till ya can’t go on
Work it to the bone till you collapse in a heap
That’s the destiny of the Citizen Sheep

The Citizen Sheep is as blind as can be
It’s eyes are fully open still they don’t see
The Citizen Sheep doesn’t think for themselves
They declare their allegiance to Santa and his elves
The Citizen Sheep is awake yet asleep
The Citizen Sheep accepts his fate without a peep

The bankers they laugh with unbridled glee
If they get caught they cop a plea for immunity
They’ll pay a fine that’s miniscule
For you see it’s all well, as gold makes the rule
They’ve got their gold, they ignore the ridicule

The Citizen Sheep is as blind as can be
It’s eyes are fully open yet they don’t see
The Citizen Sheep doesn’t think for themselves
They declare their allegiance to Santa and his elves
The Citizen Sheep is awake yet asleep
The Citizen Sheep accepts his fate without a peep

The badges will search you at any time
Matters not that you committed no crime
The NSA has ears on your phone
Shit, they even got cameras in your home
Illegal as shit, but it’s spun to the masses
It’s for your own good, we’ve got your asses.

Citizen Sheep better wake the fuck up
Society has gone completely bankrupt
The winds of change are in the air
The Citizen Sheep better beware
The Citizen Sheep is in the wolves lair

A Nation of Sheep, Begets A Government of Wolves. – Edward R. Murrow

This one is a bit personal. This CD was a real integral part of my divorce. I wsa jamming to this CD all across the country as I left Idaho, and returned home to Michigan.

A fine line between genius and insanity. I for one think this qualifies as genius, and it always make me smile.

» Posted By SmotPoker On January 4, 2014 @ 10:51 am

I just happened to run across this pure internet gold. The song isn’t particularly well done, the musicians aren’t anything special in their skill set, but I can’t stop watching it for some reason. I can’t seem to put my finger on it…

» Posted By SmotPoker On January 4, 2014 @ 10:27 am

This one always leaves me with a smile, and in need of a new pair of speakers in my automobile.
