I went to the ENT and he gave me a shot of steroids in the ear. I also have drops to put in twice a day, along with Prednisone which is a steroid, and some anti viral medications. Internet research tells me I got about 10-25% chance of regaining the use of my ear, the ENT doc pegged it at 50-50 (I was already deaf in my right ear from a childhood incident).

Failing that I am a candidate for a cochlear implant on the left side but not for my right. If however, my hearing in the left ear returns, I could be a candidate for a Baha Cochlear implant for my right. In order for that to apply though I must have hearing in at least one ear without artificial aid.

As of now, it’s a time will tell situation.

I went to bed Tuesday night able to hear, and woke up completely deaf on Wednesday. ENT doc diagnosed it as SSNHL Sudden Senso Neural Hearing Loss. I’m as deaf as a stone.
