Correction: Hillary Was Never a Progressive, but Johnny Reid Was …

KT, that is the most important outcome to any election. But, I would like to see a female Prez someday. However, not a Bachmann or Palin. They give us girls a bad rep. There are others out there with much more to offer and I know there are those that are Dems. (No doubt more qualified) Perhaps after Obama’s second term they will surface. But, Hillary made a good start. I just hope I am still around to watch a “she” finish the race.

I was being specific to this article not to the site. I know the site welcomes all comments. I also watch Bill Mahr. You don’t have to agree with someone to listen to them. And, because you do doesn’t mean they are spoon feeding you. If you don’t listen to others, you don’t know how to defend, campaign or challenge someone in the debate of issues. I don’t retain everything I hear and many times research things that don’t sound completely right to me. In order to criticize, you have to have heard the subject. If I didn’t listen to others, whether I agreed or not, I wouldn’t have any friends. Doesn’t mean I would follow them off a bridge.

Maybe I am not welcome here. I campaigned for Hillary and I would again. I did vote for Obama and I will again. But, I am not ashame of either.

The Debt Ceiling Crisis Thread

Cher, I agree! The people need to keep the pressure up on these guys in Washington. And get out and vote but don’t let those that got your vote forget to do their job you put them in once they get there. Even if you made a mistake in someone you voted for, let them know they have lost your vote in the future if they don’t check their ignorance at the chamber door. Every vote from us counts! That has been proven. We have shown that we have power in our purchases. We don’t have money, so, we can’t buy. Take more away and we will buy less and less. Not by choice necessarily but because our money is limited because we don’t have jobs, extra money, benefits cut, and health issues. Keep them focused.

Okay, back to painting. I have missed being here. That damn picket fence went on forever. It looks so great that now we have to do some painting on the front of the house, like around the front door and the door! Oh well, I will be back someday. Keep up the work, guys!

Well, AdLib, I don’t think that Wall Street always know if they have it rigged or not. If they did, I don’t think we would have been brought to the point we were in 2008. I won’t be surprise to learn that someone is gambling on speculations of the default or not.

» Posted By SallyT On July 22, 2011 @ 7:00 pm

True, AdLib, that is why you don’t elect someone based on who you would like to have a beer with.

» Posted By SallyT On July 22, 2011 @ 6:52 pm

It does if you look at why that is in the 14th Admend. It was put there after the country was in a Civil War, not before. The President was allowed to cover the debts of the War. Also, you have to remember that the TParty guys say there won’t be any catastrophe. They say nothing is really going to happen that will be as terrible as everyone is saying.
Now, if on Monday there is no agreement and the stock market starts to sink to depth of the unknown and continues to fall and other nations start to panic because they hold our bonds, I think that will be cause enough for the President to use it.

» Posted By SallyT On July 22, 2011 @ 6:48 pm

I think they are looking at it from two sides. If they can force the Dems to give them SS and Medicare more profits and money for them. But, if they push to hard and far they have a lot to use. Wall Street and its gambling.

» Posted By SallyT On July 22, 2011 @ 6:41 pm

I listened to a Constitution Professor who said that the 14th Admend was available to the President but that it could not be used unless the country was in the process of decline It could not be used to avoid it but only after. He said, of course, this would be too late because of the economic affects would already be happening in response to the decline. So, it can not be use to avoid but to respond to actions that are already happening to show an emergency was in effect. To do so before would be argued that it was not necessary because nothing was in decline and they would argue that the unknown was not a reason for it to be used.

Bito, because he can’t find those people on the golf course he plays.

» Posted By SallyT On July 22, 2011 @ 5:37 pm

The real problem is none of this would keep us from losing our AAA rating. That will go and so will the world economy. The President acting in an emergency doesn’t prove us strong financially just that we have a President that reacts to an emergency.

» Posted By SallyT On July 22, 2011 @ 5:29 pm

I would be interested in hearing what those people that voted these TParty guys in office think of them now. I think you would find more people with the opinions of those in Wis, Ohio, and Fl, get the bums out! Voter remorse.

» Posted By SallyT On July 22, 2011 @ 5:21 pm

Cher, I never truly disagree with you but I think it depends on the subject matter. I think you might be surprise to find that when it involves more cuts to the middle class, those Independents like to see the fight and no one getting away with running over the President.

» Posted By SallyT On July 22, 2011 @ 5:01 pm

Bito, I’m a chicken=sh=-. I muted when Buchannan comes on. I’ll let you listen and tell me anything you find interesting. Me, I can’t hear him!

UPDATED FOR SATURDAY: The Daily Planet, Vol. 112

C’Lady, is mmmmm a mumble? 🙂

» Posted By SallyT On July 8, 2011 @ 6:20 pm

C’Lady, well, I thought you were but than again I thought you may have stopped reading after the first sentence and didn’t get to that. No problem, I like people that mumble!

» Posted By SallyT On July 8, 2011 @ 6:14 pm

Cher, I don’t know anyone getting that much either. I made a 6 figure salary and I get a little over $2000. I lost about $300 a mo because I did not work while sick for 2 years because I thought I would get well. And, during that time my lifetime contributions suffered taking my SS down.
Whatever your last statement from SS showed is the amount you should get. It will show the figure at an early draw too. Be sure to read up on it, tho.

Adonai,
1. Yah!
2. Yah!
3. Yah!
4. Yah!
5. Yah!
6. Yah!
7. Yah!
8. Yah!

Was that enough support?

» Posted By SallyT On July 8, 2011 @ 4:15 pm

C’Lady, I think that is what I said. Something is better than nothing.

» Posted By SallyT On July 8, 2011 @ 4:11 pm

You can butt in anytime, Sue. Your friend needs to read up on that. A lot depends on her age. Here is a link that might help you understand:

http://www.ehow.com/about_5040592_ssi-surviving-spouse-benefits.html

I hope that helps. But, the SS website tells you everything you need to know.

http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10035.html

Tell your friend that your friend on here said “Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.” A lot of things get involved in the chicken coop. 🙂

» Posted By SallyT On July 8, 2011 @ 4:06 pm

Are you drawing SS or SSD? On SSD you get the amount you would have gotten if you were 65 right now. (Of course, we all know you are younger than me.) 🙂 Anyway, you shouldn’t have to pay taxes unless with your husband that puts you in a higher tax level. I don’t know what I would do without my dog. Yes, I have Mr.T but he doesn’t wag his tail when he sees me anymore. My neighbor is subject to the same property tax I am. All these people that paid too much for their houses in our neighborhood have caused us old timers headaches! See that affects you, too. Cher, she is living on way less than you will be getting. I don’t know how.

» Posted By SallyT On July 8, 2011 @ 3:21 pm

Cher, I don’t wish to argue with the writer at DOS but I can comment from personal experience. I have never seen a cost of living of $34. I think the most was like $22.50. And, like I have said there hasn’t been one for 3 years. Now, I am better off than some of my friends because I have a husband still working. But, those that don’t are hurting. Many things go up in price from food, healthcare, utilities, and taxes. My personal property taxes have gone up more than $34 a mo. I think everyone would give up 14 cents if they could get anything to help them out with the cost increases that have raised in everyday life. People are scared because of reads as this one. Yes, it makes sense unless you are one of the old and they think something like that says they are just greedy. But, the ones I have spoken to have said that they would take less if at least there was something. My husband gets a cost of living through his union contract (love the union!). I am telling you about the neighbor lady up the street that is hurting so bad that she had to give her dog away because the food had gotten to expensive. She now sits on her porch and asks you to let her pat your dog when you go by. And, with tears in her eyes says: “I use to have a dog. I couldn’t keep him. I miss him so much. You never know how lonesome it can get when you no longer have a tail wagging when they see you.” Bless her heart. Mansion and I make it by every chance we get.

All The News That’s Fit to Pit

KQ, if that sounded cross, I didn’t mean to be. Just frustrated about several things including health and SSD. Like I told you earlier our cost of living has been frozen for 3 yrs now. That usually amounts to $25 a mo. That may not seem like much but this year those 3 yrs are now $75 a mo. So this year @ $300 a year results in a loss of $900. Perhaps you can understand why people are scared and concerned. I still have my husband but many of my friends don’t and it has been hard on them.

I don’t know OFA or setting up WI means and I am not an ED fan but there was no national news reporting on the strike until he got there. Even the strikers thanked him for getting them the attention. There was a big write up in the WI newspaper and of course Michael Moore thanked him because no one else was reporting. I may not like the guy but I will give him credit when credit is do for doing something right.

Ed was a little over the edge tonight. However, it was Ed and his overreaction that did bring the media to Wisconsin when they needed to be there. Sometimes when he screams it does helps.

jkkFL, well, we have a thing about all our pets names starting with the letter “M”. So, since he is going to be as big as a house, why not a Mansion. He will be a year old on the 13th of this month and he now weighs 175 and he is 6’2 on his hind legs. Dog house? No way, he sleeps with Mr T and me in our bed. Spoiled, yes.

» Posted By SallyT On July 7, 2011 @ 7:50 pm

KQ, I don’t know about you but my SSD has taken a cut for the last 3 years with there being no cost of living increase. And, we all know the prices of everything hasn’t changed in the last 3 years. NOT!

» Posted By SallyT On July 7, 2011 @ 7:00 pm

SwamWow, Bito!

» Posted By SallyT On July 7, 2011 @ 6:54 pm

jkkFL, no kidding. I don’t know but I am pretty sure the cookies are cheaper than the other. Mansion, he just likes to drink out of the faucett which is much better than the toilet.

» Posted By SallyT On July 7, 2011 @ 6:45 pm

Now, Adonai, by my calling Mansion a hippie like you I was meaning that he’s just a big, happy go lucky, tail wagging, party animal. And, if he could smoke it, I think he would. And, I love him for it. 🙂
