Emerald, do you also remember when it first came on the market that you could only get it if you were married or could show you were engaged and the wedding set? Maybe that was only in my state/Missouri but that how it was. I don’t think even those women in Mississippi want to go back to that. They may not make it public but when they are all alone in that voting booth they aren’t going to let it go backwards.

Emerald, that is wonderful. If that had passed, I think I would have lost faith in the female race and their fight for position. That “pill” did not only keep us from getting PG but gave us power. It started with giving us control over our body and then gave as power to get out from under male dominance. No offence my male friends but those other guys still want to keeps us barefoot and PG and at home. I am glad the gals said no way tonight!

Murph, I know all of that. I have study this many times and watched many documentaries on this subject. You are not telling me anything new and you don’t need to convenince me. Yes, Khrushchev took the hit for it because Kennedy took a shot to the head. We do not know if he would have suffered at re-election. I am only trying to say how we felt at the time. You know that all things look different with time and information that comes out. And, it is easier to point out the mistakes after you know the results. I appreciate your knowledge on the subject and the information that has been made available to you with many years of investigation. But, since I was one of the children being drilled how to get under your desk in case the “big one” happens, I can say that I am glad there were level heads around the button.

Two decades from now people will see Obama much different than we do now. Maybe better or maybe not. Pres Kennedy was killed almost in front of the whole American People. A shot into our beliefs that we were the most powerful and respected people of the world. Yet, we killed our President. It took away our incidence. People born after that time won’t understand that because times have changed. But it was different back then and news was just news. Presidents had secrets that weren’t spoke of or reported. I don’t know if that was totally good or bad but that is how it was. And, that is why he is on the half dollar piece. It cost us more than 50 cents and yes we raised him to heights he may not have gotten to otherwise. I am happy that the Democrates have Kennedy and not Reagan but hell, that is just me.

As I said, history tears into the actual. It is very true that we can take every President and find fault with their time in office. Most are not prepared for that position when they enter unless they were Vice President prior. I don’t find fault with that because time does shed light on issues that have pasted. I think there were level heads on both side of the Cuban Missile. And, yes he was luke warm on the Civil Rights Issues but it was early on. There are many things now that we said Obama should have been stronger on but the answer back is usually, “Yes but it is a start.” Sentiment?? Well, I just am speaking from the time I lived and my feelings at that particular time. My memories that history has teared into. That is how I wish you would have read it instead. No pedestal to knock down.

I think it took level heads on both sides of this action. Neither was listening to their military commanders but trying to find away from it. Who was the one more level headed than the other, don’t know but am glad it ended as it did. Sure as hell glad it didn’t happen under Bush and Cheney! For sure I don’t think I would be typing now since I was around during that actual time.

The story of Camelot and the Knights of the Round Table, when you think about it, does relate in other ways to that time. Not the song but the stories and the failure and fall of the King’s hope and dreams. Kennedy was young and came into office with many people dreaming of change and improvements. Was he capable of making anything happen, change, or improve? We will never know because he was cut down while in service. Those that don’t remember that time because they weren’t there or too young might just take a minute and remember how we felt about President Obama when he first came into service. My hopes are that he is given the time to make his history. My last memories of President Kennedy I pray I will never experience again. But, I do remember the hopes and dreams of a young President with a young family and working for a future for his own and mine. History tears into the actual but not into the memories.

Yes, they have a lot of money before they got into office and make more while in government. Are those the ones he is talking about or is he talking about the lady behind the DMV booth?

KT, it is always easier for the Bee to go from flower to flower until he has tasted the honey. Then it gets sticky.
Abstaining is always easier until you get a taste of that honey. I don’t care if you are a boy or a girl. Young people need to be educated that it comes naturally and this is how you protect yourself from having to make decisions about things you probably aren’t ready to make.

I don’t know if this contributes anything to your conversation but I know of a company that made components for something in China. However, they brought that production back to the States because they were not saving that much money in costs. The labor cost was less but not the shipping parts to China and then back and it having to set in Customs for several months costing them time in getting it to market. Also, packaging was done here. Several companies have to keep some production in China in order to sell their products in China. That is China’s requirement.

KQ, oh you are so right. They wouldn’t have made it any easier on her. I don’t know for sure how she would have responded. I have an opinion. But, would her reactions been any better for the outcome? Don’t know. I am still supporting Obama but he has let me down a few times. I am sure she would have, too. You can’t have everything no matter how hard you try. And, having everything isn’t always a good thing.
