(In the words of the divine) I’m just getting warmed up! 8) » Posted By PocketWatch On February 15, 2011 @ 2:15 pm chase – It’s my baby… bought it in 1972 before I got out of the Army, been playing it ever since… I’m a fair-to-middlin’ rythmn guitarist. If I work at it… But when faced with real talent… sigh… 8) » Posted By PocketWatch On February 15, 2011 @ 2:11 pm woof – Except in Newfoundland, where you would be off by a 1/2 hour… they have their own TZ…. what’s up with that? » Posted By PocketWatch On February 15, 2011 @ 1:56 pm ADONAI – True enough, although I remember seeing something on the dreaded PBS about sat’s have the capability to turn themselves off and roll into a ball or something to avoid damage. 8) » Posted By PocketWatch On February 15, 2011 @ 1:45 pm chase – all you guys make me ill! It’s like my guitar… I once had the pleasure of sitting within 5 feet of Richie Havens’ sideman for 4 hours in a little club on the Hudson one night a few years back. Made me want to go home and set fire to my Ovation 12-string! (Love to be around real writers, though…) » Posted By PocketWatch On February 15, 2011 @ 1:41 pm ADONAI – Maybe so, and maybe no. Remember that almost everything these days is bounced off of satellites, including the bandwidth the interwebs ride on. 8) » Posted By PocketWatch On February 15, 2011 @ 1:37 pm bito – About your curiosity concerning comments…. Couple of points… HP had no OT thread. So, when people just wanted to banter, they typically found a thread that was relatively unused and not moderated, and people gathered there and just chatted about “whatever.” This usually happened later in the evening when people were just burned out and wanted to decompress some. Because you have an OT thread, I think you will see this sort of thing a lot. People like to just dash off a quick retort or comment to each other in the vein of a casual conversation, a pseudo chatroom, if you like. IMO, that is a good thing, and shouldn’t take away from comments about posts. In fact, to have the OT outlet, and gently (for now) asking people to take extended casual conversations over to OT, should keep the miscellaneous chatter to a minimum on subject threads. And to answer the question directly, yeah, this IS what it is like on HP, with quick, short, and sometimes terribly funny back-and-forths on threads. Personally, I think you have the best of both worlds. An OT thread where people can just chat and maybe wait for a comment that attracts them to an article thread (that’s what I do by keeping an eye on the current comment box and hitting F5 regularly) and posting a thoughtful response as the mood hits. Hope this helps… 8) » Posted By PocketWatch On February 15, 2011 @ 9:11 am Looks like someone had a rough morning getting this site back up. Dogs I have figured out. But this cat… whole ‘nother story! » Posted By PocketWatch On February 14, 2011 @ 7:45 pm e’cat – Ok, I has a question about my cat… I take her for walks outside every day, mostly off leash, but sometimes on, depending on where she’s headed. Anyway, there are lots of cats in different apartments, and while she’ll go up to the patio door and just sort of look and sniff, she’s not that interested. However, if she sees a cat outside and loose…. zoom! She cornered one stray, and then she just got belly down in front of it and stayed there.. But that’s not the problem(?)… there’s this one cat she’s obsessed with. She goes there every time we go out. This other cat snarls and yowls and swipes at mine and runs inside, and yet Maggie keeps going back… every chance she gets. Moves in ultra slow motion, trying to get closer… WTF is going on? 8) » Posted By PocketWatch On February 14, 2011 @ 7:36 pm E’cat: But….b.b..b..b…..but …. you are making me pay for something I don’t waaaaaaaaaannnnnnnn’t!!!!!! Of course, ignoring the fact that we have to pay for the guy when he hits the E room witha fractured pelvis from skydiving or somesuch. 8) » Posted By PocketWatch On February 14, 2011 @ 7:20 pm That can’t be good! I heard about this this morning. I am sad for my home state. haven’t lived there for a while, but from what I understand, the whole place has gone crazy. Sounds like this guy wants to be another Wallace, or at least thinks of himself that way. Good way to get in the news and on national TV. I don’t understand why else he would be making that sort of statement. As background, Wisconsin is the home of the Progressive Movement (ref: Bob LaFollette), the longest running mayor of Madison in the history of the state was Paul Sogland, who was arrested over 2 dozen times during the housing riots on Miflin Street in the ’60’s, but is also home to the national office of the John Birch Society and the home of the Posse Comitatis. Depending on where you are in the state, it is either really liberal/progressive, or really, REALLY conservative. » Posted By PocketWatch On February 14, 2011 @ 11:25 am https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pk7yqlTMvp8 My all-time favorite… » Posted By PocketWatch On February 13, 2011 @ 8:33 pmComments Posted By PocketWatch
