Displaying 0 To 0 Of 0 Comments Let’s Put the Blame Where it Belongs Other than being able to vote these guys out (which will be hard considering the gerrymandering, voting restrictions, etc), I suspect that only way that things will change is when it affects them personally. When a bridge collapses or a road washes out and one of them or theirs is directly affected, only then expect to see some changes. Assigning blame doesn’t do a lot, sort like peeing in your pants in a dark suit, feels good for a while but nobody notices. Why is it that so many are so willing to vote against their own best interest? How is that mindset changed? Why are the downstream consequences of their actions, or lack there of, not seen or acknowledged by these folks? Why do these folks not see themselves as part of the greater US but only as a select part that is impervious to problems? The real challenge is to get people to recognize that there is only a us (as in US), not a us – them. » Posted By NWGuy On July 16, 2014 @ 4:42 pm Religion & The U.S. Constitution: The Official Record Great article and research into a pivotal point in this country’s history. I can’t imagine any of our current crop of politicians being able to work on such a tough issue with such integrity. Of course, they were united in trying to give birth to a new country and government, whereas today’s group is more interested in how they can improve their own (or their handlers) profit margins. Zeke, Thanks for your work, I enjoyed the information. » Posted By NWGuy On July 3, 2014 @ 1:10 pm Is The United States Of America A Christian Nation? Interesting that the GOPT keeps referring back to the founding fathers as a guide to where they want the US to go, yet, the founding fathers were fighting against much of what the GOPT is currently pushing. » Posted By NWGuy On July 2, 2014 @ 10:36 am The Whys And Wherefores Of Suing The President “… the Court adhered to its holdings that, in order to possess the requisite standing, a person must establish that he has a “personal stake” in the dispute and that the alleged injury suffered is particularized as to him.” My understanding of lawsuits is that there has be injury. I don’t see where Boehner nor the HOR has been injured by anything done by the POTUS. Suing because you don’t like what the other party is doing has no grounds. However, as alluded to above about the POTUS suing on behalf go the people, I’m sure that the lack of action on behalf of the HOR in performing their duty or just the fact that they are not meeting their job descriptions yet are still costing taxpayers, may be enough. Possibly, even the publicity of such a suit may have an effect. » Posted By NWGuy On July 5, 2014 @ 10:11 am McDaniel Lost…The Shot Heard Around The World “SO what is he saying about HIS side. a) True conservatives do not reach across the aisle Makes it abundantly clear that the interest in these folks is to Rule, not govern. They are intolerant of others opinions and needs thus they really are intolerant of democracy. What was that quote/warning about America’s fall will come wrapped in a flag and bearing a cross…? » Posted By NWGuy On June 27, 2014 @ 1:30 pm Obama 41% Approval Rating Proof Of The Public’s Lack Of Basic Current Events Knowledge “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” Joseph Goebbels When people are more knowledgeable about current events watching the Comedy Channel than some news channels you know something is going on. The GOPT purposely have suppressed anything good that Pres Obama has done and twisted everything else into being a direct result of malfeasance by him. Many people don’t read past the headlines or able to read anything longer than a tweet, so this falls right into what the GOPT wants. There is a reason the GOPT are so against education. So are the people just lazy and not examining issues more thoroughly, being purposely mislead for political purposes, not interested or too burned out on on-gong political shenanigans to care anymore, or too busy trying to keep their heads above water? Probably any one of the above in different situations. Regardless, the lack of an informed electorate is a dangerous thing. The right has done very little to help the country since Obama took office (how long is their list of accomplishments?) with their goal of doing only what will promote their party (more specifically, their party’s donors). » Posted By NWGuy On June 22, 2014 @ 8:38 am The inability to look past the immediate is a character flaw prevalent in the right wing hierarchy. They couldn’t see past the initial invasion of Iraq, which they saw as the quick fix of the whole Saddam problem. They did the same in Afghanistan. You’ve heard them clamor about invading Syria and Iran, but never hearing details about the, “OK, then what?”. It is also their SOP dealing with the economy – if this quarter’s profits look good, that’s all that matters. They want tax breaks now, but have no plans on how to cover the cost of rebuilding an infrastructure teetering on the brink. They can’t deal with the climate change issue because the impact is beyond the next quarter’s filing. The only time you hear them being concerned about the future is when they blame Pres. Obama for the debt or if someone wants to do something about climate change. » Posted By NWGuy On June 15, 2014 @ 10:38 amComments Posted By NWGuy
