I haven’t been following as closely as I should but I have heard enough that I now have a terrible knot in my stomach ……. not because of what has happened so far because of what I fear will happen – I do not think this will end well for those who protest against Mubarak. I watched the Foreign Minister being interviewed on PBS last might and the overwhelming impression I came away with was that this regime is stalling for time – not to implement the reforms but rather to allow Mubarak to stay until the elections and then make sure that Suleiman becomes President – and then watch what happens. My Nanna was a Cornish lass born and bred and I grew up with home made Pasties – she always used skirt (known as flank steak in Canada) and fill of potatoes and onions – and it was always crimped at the sides, never the top! I have her recipe and make pasties occasionally. The odd thing about our family, and I’m pretty sure it’s not a Cornish tradition (maybe it was started by my Gramps – not a Cornish lad) – when the pasty is served piping hot from the oven, we’d open it up and then poor some milk on it It must be nostalgia day – where I grew up, the South Downs, there were some woods on the hill opposite to where I lived, and every spring we would go picking bluebells (this was before the days of understanding that doing that could/would destroy the very thing you loved) and to this day I can remember the carpet of blue as far as the eyes could see – pure heaven!!
