I posted this on FB – I’ll read later commentary here and respond. I’ve just been in a weird place and this invasion, as predictable as it was, was disturbing to me – as I’ve been working on my anxiety and anger issues and being calm and then Putin goes ahead and … I’m not a hippy, but seriously this is fucked up.

——-

I’ve been too spritually exhausted to deal with pro-Putin Republicans. Even those to the supposed left under 30 who are “liberals” I’ve encountered.

I started out arguing with Iranian cyber-basijis during the Green Movement in Iran in 2009. Even if it’s not from Iran, you could trace the provenance of the propoganda from their state media.

Propaganda has its own eco-system [and yes, everyone has it – don’t take me for a fool – I’m just consistent whether it’s my country or not.

It’s a fact, and I can identify tropes pushed by the opposition, because, rather than brute force – read their motives. (try to think like them)

Such it is with Kremlin propaganda. And I say that purposefully. And by Kremlin I mean the Moscow one [many old cities have kremlins].

I just love it when I hear from both the anti-imperialist “left” and the authoritarian right how Russia isn’t Communist anymore.

Well, I’ll be. Really? Wow, it’s as if the fall of the Berlin Wall didn’t happen in my life. It’s as if I’ve not been collecting East German stuff and an ironic Stasi uniform.

Good job not knowing Putin is an autocrat. A homophobic, anti-gun, and free-speech and corrupt monster who is prolly shorter than Napoleon was in real life.

Good job not knowing the Communist Party is still the second largest in the Duma as ‘controlled opposition’ for the pensioners – and there are those further to the right – which is why it’s so ironic for Putin to complain about Ukrainian ultra-nationalists.

But hey, I can forgive Trumpists [I’m not bringing all the GOP into this – this is why we have an establishment – they know things]. Anyone pretenting to be progressive and support Putin is a joke.

Also, one of the most revanchist and old-school far-right parties supporting Putin’s United Russia are the Liberal Democrats. Which brings me again to how names can be confusing.

Anyway, I will never let Putin fans forget this. Is Ukraine corrupt? Sure, and center-right at best – but Zelensky has impressed me. It’s almost Mockingbird.

Anyway, I’ve just been so pissed I thought it was better not to post for a while.

And also because sanctions? I miss the Prussians. Make Kaliningrad Königsberg again. Take that port from them. I get how some right-wingers like the machismo of Putin.

I’m like, fuck it, don’t want WWIII, but we’ll take that from you and offer it to Poland, Lithuania [although hyphenate those and watch out], or let Germans back at least. I don’t feel strongly about this.

I just think it would hurt. That, and Scandinavia blocking access from the Baltic Sea…

I digress. I’m sure these things are being discussed and I prefer sanctions to violence. Just saying. The Ukrainian people aren’t pussies, at least.

It’s ironic. They are literally acting out the movie of Red Dawn and taking up arms against Russians – and…

The Russia isn’t Communist anymore is a red herring. When the Islamic Revolution overthrew the Shah, they just rebranded. Just as the Bolsheviks did after overthrowing the Tsars.

Just… I wish it didn’t have to come to this. We’d already seen Putin with South Ossetia in 2007 (I think?). Difference is, other than latent feelings for Stalin (who was ethnically Georgian), it’s not the same as Ukraine.

The Rus, literally started in Kiev. But, that was a long time ago. It’s like America trying to claim Britain. It is pure cultural chauvenism. It’s not just about NATO, the EU and warm water ports.

So, been away for awhile. I wasn’t even banned from FB this time. Just unplugged for a while. I’m defs adding some SNL and other skit comedy gems.

But, to quoth Lenny Kravits, what I really want to know is…

Are we doing a SOTU chat?

» Posted By Khirad On March 1, 2022 @ 4:55 pm

This was in the back of my head…

And also you’ve prolly already addressed it but is the press so bored after Trump that they are trying to sink Biden? I wouldn’t quite say his presidency is a dumpster fire… but boy are they pouring on the kerosene. Them and purists like Kyle Kulinski and others.

As with the Borat, yeah I agree it’s mostly organic. Just don’t forget they have big big interest in Kazakhstan apart from natural resources.

Speaking of I have a post pending. I couldn’t think of a cover image, you do that voodoo that you do.

I couldn’t find the right link, but it is NOT your imagination. Countries with ‘Democratic Republic’ in their name ARE more authoritarian.

I forgot the Kuominton, Peronists, you get my point.

Ask Signapore, Russia, Mexico (PRI years), India (Congress years), and so on. There’s a technical term… but in Japan’s case I don’t believe it to be a controlled opposition. Interestingly, Japan has one of the most vibrant Communist Parties in the world.

Yes but this is the kicker Kazakhstan just happened to explode. I’m saying the CIA is involved but, if not, I’m sure they’d love to be.

Shout out to Kalima. I love this channel and keep abreast of as many countries as possible, but this was kinda like … even I know that. The Diet goes through governments sometimes as fast as Italy, but it’s always the same party.

Ebb and flow, I’d hold cautious optimism.

Kinda seems smoother I think.

Yes I saw this. I loved it.

I’m never gonna get another seque into an Andy Dick movie though… and well, the one thing – a hidden cult gem.

Let’s leave aside what you may think about Cenk Uygur and The Young Turks, because, quite frankly, it beats MSNBC. I’ve gotten into HasanAbi [Hasan Piker], who is Cenk’s nephew. And roll credits, yes, they are Turkish. I’m not into Twitch, like, VoxPop sometimes goes too fast for me. Nor am I a gamer, though I’m not not against it anymore than I am stamp collecting. Just not my thing. That aside, and I’m not backing either here, but it reminds me talking with my dad. I hope I’ve established myself as not being a delusional Trotskyist, but my dad always tries to tell me about banking and stuff – he was going to be an accoutent before getting a masters in Education. So, I respect his knowhow, and if anything play the Marxist devil’s advocate – which he gets (we both laughed at Texas when their privatized electrical grid failed). It is sad but Churchill was kinda ‘right’ – pun notwithstanding – about having to moderate as you get older. Whatever, it’s cliché. I just always try to tell the too cool “leftists” I’m with you – but, how do we make that happen, because – solipsism and zeal aside – we’re a minority. Also, like my Stasi personam the Soviet flag is ironic. Not anybody here, but I love being lectured like I’m a complete moron.

Does anyone here paint? I’m not silly enough to get into oils yet, but I was looking for deals on Amazon. Guess what: they’ll give me an easel (already have one), 10,000 colors when all I need are basic primary colors and a shit load of Titanium White. I’ll admit I need canvasses, a knife, shit loads of plastic palletes, decent brushes that won’t fall apart after the first washing, but I don’t need 10,000 colors. And I have drawing supllies foor two lifetimes, although… I can always use more sketch paper and kinda want an old school pencil sharpener. I draw more than I paint, because drawing is cheaper. But like I say – I just need a gallon of Titanium white and maybe 6-10 primary colors if I’m fancy. I don’t even care any more. It’s such a racket. I’m not a child I’ve taken art classes all my life, but I’m not a pro either.

I posted it for review, just because I was impatient. I can definitely take the images down from 2.1 mb to 600 or so kb. I just got lazy. I feel like this was a bigger project than I anticipated as memories keep rekindling. In any case. Something is better than nothing. I can polish it once published.

» Posted By Khirad On November 27, 2021 @ 9:55 pm

Okay, not done yet. I like the images, but can you format them better? Like, be my editor? I’m not quite done. This is my hometown, and hopefully if it’s well done I can link to all my hometown friends. I’m sort of happy as far as a blog post… I just need more time to review and add and cut out and such. I want the images more compact yet in context?

I thought Old Christine was cringe with her. But Veep was hawt. Sorry, but I loved Veep. Most honest DC I ever saw.

I suggest favorite comedy bits. I would hope I could get more than you, and I’ll be nice, but like – I’m more rock n’ roll to put it lightly.

I don’t it’s funny to be crass, but Gaffigan and Christian comedy doesn’t do it either… have a narrative and a point of view. Use what language you want.

» Posted By Khirad On November 26, 2021 @ 2:48 am

No, I do too! I do do!

I can’t say anybody gets cancelled. I just hate the canned shit. Even if you’re offensive… just don’t be lame. You’re not funny, but I respect you for not taking the easy way out.

I didn’t get into sketch comedy because another list. Of course there’s crossover, but I started with brute level raw. standup – in my my parlance – punk and metal subversive.

I dunno, if you believe the lie..

So I might as well address the maestro here. I spent so much time working on my article about Vancouver. I didn’t make a backup draft. I was working on it trying to fit images in [it’s so clunky, and I wish I could do this offline – because I don’t need my images to be like 2.2 mb – I’m just playing around] and then I swear I lost like 3/4ths of where I was – and I wasnt even done yet. If there’s anyway to go back a few drafts… because I’m exhausted and emotionally drained. All the blocks and stuff makes me feel almost nostalgic, it all just loads so slow. That why I wondered if there were an offline version I could upload… anyway, not trying to be ungrateful. It just sucks to lose all your work…

» Posted By Khirad On November 19, 2021 @ 7:03 am

I spent like three hours on my new article about my hometown and this is when I need Dymphna rather than screaming. I’ll let AdLib in on my frustrations later. Just breathe.

I’m so into religion I could go down a rabbit hole. Like I just watched a three hour documentary on the reformation and it’s not my first foray.

I find it all so fascinating, but, it’s like measuring a fairies wings. Losing the forest for the trees.

Again, the history of Christianity… not going there. It hurts my head. But I was listening to even Erasmus and Luther argue with Calvin about communion and transubstantiation and all that.

And that’s where I agree with Calvin and Knox. I believe in poetry and magic and I’ve taken it at Episcopalian services (where they let every one take it). It’s a beautiful ceremony, but I don’t believe it’s the literal blood and body of Christ.

That being said, the world would be a better place had Calvin and Knox not existed. It was an overcorrection, but the Catholic church was indeed not very holy itself. I don’t need to tell you that.

I of course like the Society of Jesus. I have my questions about whether he even existed, because John the Baptist was the only other Messianic figure. The closest we have is Paul, the Gospels are of uncertain provenance, especially Luke.

I disappoint my mom, because no matter how much she wants me to believe, I just don’t believe he died for my sins and rose again. I don’t believe in the Trinity [Father forgive them? – I could never wrap my head around that. I actually think Pelagianism, Arianism, and later Unitarianism made more sense.]

And yet I feel guilty because my mom is mainline Presbyterian – which has come a long way from the Kirk o’ Knox in Scotland to accepting gays like the Methodists and UCC, and even divesting from Israel. Like, I wish I did believe, because I hate how even my dad, who grew up in the Southern Baptist tradition doesn’t recognize Christianity anymore. And I’ll admit, as Christian as my mom is, my dad – when I started asking questions, revealed himself to be agnostic. He just said – I know there is ‘something’ because I met mommy.

All, I’m saying is I’m a Satanist for Pope Francis. Never repeat that, because Bill Donahue and the League of Colombus would have a field day with that. Yes, he’s still against abortion, but he has priorities. Again, I like him and Jesuits.

I disagree, but they’re so nice, I don’t hate them for being wrong. I’m sure they would say the same of me.

My new best friend? A Goth ally?

» Posted By Khirad On November 4, 2021 @ 2:47 am

Yes to Swedish meatballs, no to Norweigian lutefisk. And yes I dabbled in Ásatru, and still listen to Black Metal and wear a Thor’s hammer sometimes – I know how to read runes. I’ve dabbled in about everything. But not filthy Norwegian food (my best friend is of Norwegian stock and I’m trying to get him here by messing with him – the only problem is he agrees – because, humor).

He was establishment, but based in Spokane, which is a pale blue dot now with Gonzaga – a Catholic university. The Inland Empire of Washington [I’m dropping the state thing – just know it annoys us to no end – it’s just not me].

Also, the 80’s and 90’s. There were no progressives yet. Hell, the Republicans in the Northwest were very moderate until Trump. There were exceptions, but for the most part we wrote them off.

He is the only person from the Northwest I can think of to have that same power.

He was instrumental in the MIC and bringing Boeing to Washington. He was old boss powerful, but from Washington. He took that pork all the way back to our state.

Not a Robin Hood – but I don’t think Californian’s have the same experience as we did in our corner of the country.

Gary Shandling – we share the same birthday! I forgot him! I’m adding Bob Newhart.

I used to crack up at Gary Shandling, my parents loved him.

I only mentioned Johnny Carson for nostalgia, not old enough for Jack Parr. Also I saw Jay Leno at a local casino. People talk shit, especially with the late night wars, but he wasn’t awful. I veered towards Conan and Letterman – but, he wasn’t great. I also saw Seinfeld live with my folks. Same thing. If anything, I think Seinfeld is more of a creep.

I forgot Robin Williams! If you ever wanted to diagnose ADHD – and while I prefer ADD – he was ADHD+. I loved him.

I also forgot Richard Pryor, I know of him from movies, and tragedy. Eddie Murphy definitely modeled him – though took a straighter path.

Bing Crosby is a Washington [the state] hero.

I also forgot a few who I respected but wasn’t completely into? Steve Martin, George Lopez, Norm MacDonald – two were avante garde, and George Lopez tells more ethnic stuff, like Fluffy, Gabriel Iglesias.

I enjoy them, but especially with Norm and Steve Martin, it takes a lot for me to understand – even though I grew up watching Kids in the Hall and other Canadian humour.

I remember Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, and yeah he had a few right wingers. I think it was on after Jon Stewart before Colbert replaced the slot.

It was definitely a downer and was too abrasive for me. Colin hasn’t redeemed himself with working with Amy Shumer – who is a discount Sarah Silverman – though she herself couldn’t have happened without previous raunchy female comics – when it was still transgressive. I’m not offended, just bored.

However in defence of Colin – he is friends with Jon Stewart and Denis Leary [who I like, but he’s been accused of being the Irish-American Bill Hicks much as Carlos Mencia was caught for plagiarizing George Lopez].

He almost got Eddie Izzard with this, so I give him a pass. He’s a hard ass who is more liberal than you think – he just doesn’t wear heels.

I’m always wracking myself on that question, but I do think the average person who votes based on what they see on TV [and it wrecks my head that people bothering to vote end up going with the better haircut – as in Fahrenheit 451°]

This is a long rabbit hole conversation about party tactics. There’s this learned helplessness and gerrymandering and voter suppression in the Deep South – where black voters combined with liberal whites could easily win.

We’re starting to see it in Arizona and Texas – New Mexico was always an odd outlier, and honestly a Democratic Party failure – but it doesn’t have that “urban” element to attack.

Listen, the biggest states are going to produce the most ruthless, though I will say, I’ve generally been happy with the Democratic Parties in Oregon and Washington – but disgusted by even Nevada. And, I saw Sean Spicer talking about Ni-vaaah-duh and wonder how nobody punches them in the face. If a Republican came to Oregon and said O-reeee-gaaawn there’d be a riot.

Speaking of Eastern Washington [the state], Tom Foley was badass for our whole state, which is a state called Washington, not D.C. Sorry if I rub this in, but I’m from Washington, not D.C.

And during the Gingrich Revolution in ’94… I went to junior high to see some of my friends’ parents’ had voted for a proto-tea party Candidate locally as well as in the rest of Washington [the state].

We voted out the most powerful Washiningtonian [the state] to ever sit in D.C.
