Whatever evil plans he may contrive will only hurt him, not you.

I read you to say that you were not going to post here at all if he was allowed to post here. For anyone who actually sees things that way, I say, you have let the troll win.

It is not required that you be perfectly honest in your debate style, and I certainly appreciate your willingness to use your moniker. I anticipate plenty of disingenuous argument from you, should you participate. But I know that you can keep it civil, which is the price of playing here.

You know that I like a vigorous give and take. I for one have no issues with your posting here. Observe the rules, they are not complex.

Of the four founders, I have the most permissive attitude toward snark, as you may have noticed. But I fully endorse our standards here, they are not terribly obscure. An occasional bit of sarcasm is not going to get people bounced. A pathological need to disrupt will result in restrictions on posting. Dread naught.

Now just a minute. You may do as you please. But the rule is that until a blogger proves themselves, HERE, to be a creep, then they get to participate.

Assuming that SD is going to be a creep, then he or she is going to be shown the door. But nobody gets shived without mal-behaving HERE.

I risk paraphrasing AdLib: SD is what SD is, and if that is obnoxious and disruptive, then SD will experience the consequences.

You are under no obligation to post here while SD does, but I don’t think any of us has a black-ball of other bloggers. I don’t think that even if the four of the founders detested a particular blogger, that we would black-ball him without allowing at least one un-acceptable post.

Bring with you the courage of your convictions and make a coherent argument, and all will be well.

We are not perfectly free of snark, but there is a very low threshold where that is considered unwelcome snottiness. One quickly learns the difference.

You will be fine if your comments make even just a lick of sense.

Fan count! You want to know the quick way to drive your numbers? It worked for me three or four times.

Wait for some troll to say that you don’k know jack or your opinion is crud. Respond, “well, 300 other members see it differently”. The troll will instantly light into you for citing your fan numbers. Now, you engage in a tit for tat back and forth, you need to be cleverer than the troll, easy enough.

About ten or twelve new fans will be yours as you wipe the floor with troll. They will be coming on to announce their joining your fan base. It was such a surprise to me when it first happened, and even more a surprise each time I was able to repeat it.

What a hoot!

Glad you got here before me, you said it better than I would. But my response in bullet points:

I don’t give a tupney ha’penny damn what the trolls at huff are babbling about the planet, except to note the potential for laughs, and the indication that the planet’s presence is sufficient to aggravate the dim-minded. It’s a start.

Let the trolls at huff do our advertising for us. The are self-evident assholes, and every time they bag on us over there, they are passing the name planet to good progressives who may care to join us. Thanks for the boost in circulation, trolls!

Members here should in no way stifle their expression to satisfy the trolls. Obviously one does not want a flame war to leap back and forth, so I regret that I won’t be seeing a list of links to those comments at huff. I could use the laugh.

That said, at some point I personally would be OK if Huff was no longer a topic that anyone here felt a need to talk about. That’s me personally. If anyone wants to bag on huff in perpetutity, I’m good with that too. Just do please try to write gracefully, that is all I could ask for.

The day will come when there is no way that the planet will seem in any way the anti-huff, to even the most critical of critics. Just to pick a number I think it will come about the time we get to 500 members.

While AdLib has a closer seat to the statistics than do I, I would say that we will hit that number about July next year. Just a seat of the pants estimate, no solid regression analysis in there.

To sum, I am tickled pink that the trolls are bagging on us over at Huff. Fuck ’em.

Comparing Jews to Catholics is apples and oranges. “Jews” is as analogous to “Blacks” as it is to “Christians.

Hitchens is not anti-Christian, not even remotely. He is anti-theist. There is no organized religion that he does not want to see go away.

The Rome even today has a Cardinal who conspired to cover up child abuse. There is a guy in Rome that US prosecutors would like to interview. And Rome refuses.

Hitchens and Stephen Fry just participated in a debate, the Catholic Church is not a Force for Good in the World. The other side really could not deliver the goods.
