Displaying 571 To 600 Of 1,300 Comments Fact: Failure to pass a bill will cause the Dems to lose seats in the House and Senate. We are about to see Clinton II. Somehow the Dems have fucked up passing health care reform and we will be stuck with a rump presidency. Except that this time we will have a series of external wars to prosecute, along with grotesque unemployment. And that mumbling little fuck from Connecticut will be laughing his ass off the whole way. Why oh why did not Connecticut have a sore loser law? » Posted By KevenSeven On December 15, 2009 @ 8:55 pm Hairyanna is a supposed progressive. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 15, 2009 @ 12:34 am While I do not carry any water for Israel, I can criticize their policies without hating people in general. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 15, 2009 @ 12:33 am Well, I gotta get some sleep. I have work to accomplish tomorrow. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 15, 2009 @ 12:31 am How many times did you read the suggestion that we cut off funding to Israel, in order to spite Joe? ‘Cause Joe is the only supporter of Israel in the Senate, you see. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 15, 2009 @ 12:02 am So. Who here thinks that Joe is going to run in the Dem Primary in 2012? Snerk. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 14, 2009 @ 11:28 pm Painful as it is, we have the magic number plus zero. If we had 63 in the caucus, Joe would be perfectly irrelevant. There is every reason to believe that we will gain seats in the Senate next year. I have not given up hope. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 14, 2009 @ 10:38 pm Hairyanna is obviously a hoot, and we all get our jollies bagging on her. An interesting point is that she clearly detests HRC. Any Clintonista who ventured to HP during the primary can tell you all you need to know about that. Hairy did all she could to deny the nomination to Hill. So what was she thinking? That Obama was great and Hill terrible, and Dog forbid that Hill win the nomination? Could Hairy be bent that Obama appointed Hill SecState? Or is it all just a need to be in opposition? The whole Contrarian thing gets you more ink than agreeing all the time? On the other hand is the PUMA attitude which has not receded. A prime dealer in that mess was Jane Hamsher. Jane at least is consistent. I don’t know that she ever had a kind word for Obama. That’s OK. What is strange is that Jane pretended to believe that HRC was more liberal than was Obama. Cough. HRC was more pure than Obama. Well, I suppose we can all convince ourselves of anything under the right circumstances. Certainly Obama is insufficiently pure today to satisfy Hamsher. Who are the pundits in the business of burnishing Obama’s image? I watch so little TV, I’m behind the curve on this one. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 14, 2009 @ 8:24 pm I’m not sure that Obama is not missing a chance to lead at this time. Rumor, which I am careful to not accept on face value, has it that Rham is pushing Reid to make Loserman happy. I have my doubts about Rham. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 14, 2009 @ 7:25 pm Sorry. Denny LET himself be painted a UFO gawker. He got hit by a truck and it is all his own fault. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 13, 2009 @ 8:24 pm Stupid is a Pre-Existing Condition: Whatever Happened to Suffering Real Consequences? He certainly knew how to keep the little head happy. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 13, 2009 @ 3:22 pm Did I say I objected to his wife giving him a hard time? Not that I have much sympathy. He was a multi-millionaire athlete when she married him. I don’t know where she got the idea that he was going to be monogamous from. Insert annoying smilie face here. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 13, 2009 @ 3:21 pm I am not convinced that he is not experiencing consequences. He is losing sponsorship and his wife is making him miserable. I think that would be about the right set of consequences, yes? Not that I much care. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 13, 2009 @ 12:31 pm Your first mistake was looking for fellowship with people arrogant enough to insist that they knew the mind of god. Moral judgment is all those people have. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 13, 2009 @ 11:27 am I’m sorry. But what infraction has Tiger committed that warrants any consequences that you or I should care about? I’m pretty sure it is not my problem. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 13, 2009 @ 11:25 am Un(der)reported News—Weekend Edition Kerry and his campaign were perfect pussies. Utter pussies. He deserved to lose, being such a spineless wimp. Obama was lucky that he was up against an old geezer who has still some modicum of self-respect. Not much, to be sure, but more than Bush. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 12, 2009 @ 5:54 pm Loose sleep? They are gloating to this day. Keyrist, do I detest Rethugs. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 12, 2009 @ 4:09 pm Now now. I’m in charge of snark around here. But I am glad that you are not alarmed. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 11, 2009 @ 11:08 pm Friday Music Thread – Your Early Faves Fine. Did you see my column? » Posted By KevenSeven On December 11, 2009 @ 8:14 pm Well, that is nice and all. But the reason is that his political power will suffer if he is too closely tied to a failure, while he will get all the credit he could use if it succeeds. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 13, 2009 @ 11:15 am Obviously they purport to be interested in seeing the bureaucracy shrink. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 13, 2009 @ 11:13 am I don’t find human selfishness amazing. It is generosity that is man-bites-dog. I don’t know that selfishness is the sharpest word for what you are saying. Perhaps self-absorption. Narcissism? Yeah. Hard to picture how the executive of a govt of a nation of a third of a billion is going to cater to anybody completely at all. You can please some of the people some of the time. Otherwise, just do what you know to be right. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 13, 2009 @ 1:11 am I exist, only to serve. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 12, 2009 @ 11:23 pm “Ideally, he would like to inspire everyone and to offend no one.” I think you just described all politicians. As for the threats. I heard the head of SS testify to Congress that that is not true, but that it is running the same as for Worthless. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 12, 2009 @ 11:00 pm A lot of people confuse Obama with liberalism because the reactionary assholes insist that he is a commie. Our political discourse has so been debased by the rethugs, that most Americans have no damned idea what a liberal is. But Obama is not nor has ever been a lberal » Posted By KevenSeven On December 12, 2009 @ 10:55 pm Yes, WTS. Why not debate the points she is making, rather than the tone of her voice? » Posted By KevenSeven On December 12, 2009 @ 8:28 pm You certainly have not clarified the question. What do you or anyone know now about Obama that you did not know before Nov 2008? » Posted By KevenSeven On December 12, 2009 @ 8:25 pm OK. If these people are disappointed with the Admin as it has turned out, then if they were not expecting a radically liberal admin, then what have they to be upset about? » Posted By KevenSeven On December 12, 2009 @ 7:47 pm One has to accept, I suppose, that he is ready to do the right thing without leading the charge, not on everything. » Posted By KevenSeven On December 12, 2009 @ 4:05 pm Tough to top Mandella.
