LOL » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 8:14 pm Hey KQ! Thanks for posting this article. It’s a fascinating subject to me. I took a layman’s course in particle physics last year and learned so much. This ol’ dog is still learnin’ new tricks! I just wish I had the mathematics background to be able to understand it all. Have you heard any news about the LHC lately? Last I heard, it was broken and it was back to the drawing boards! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 3:44 pm DNC Moving to Eliminate the Power of the Super Delegates Absolutely! I am appalled at the ignorance of some who have no idea how laws are made in this country! Passing civics should be a graduation requirement! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 4:00 pm I’m completely confused. I don’t understand this whole thing. Thank goodness for “the Google” and for knowledgeable writers on the Planet! Where we need to focus attention is on the Electoral College that completely nullifies your “blue” vote if you happen to live in a “red” state. For many years and many elections, I felt that my vote was simply discarded by this process. At least, last fall my state of North Carolina went for President Obama! My vote finally counted! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 2:58 pm Un(der)reported News—Year in Review Oh, I think they all want to be “revered”, but like the republicans, there is no one to step up to the plate. » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 8:36 pm Bravo! Most appropriate, nottoolate! I was very upset at this news today. I have not had time to research the reasons that the charges were dropped against these men, but I intend to. Something is wrong here. The CEO of Blackwater, Eric Prince, is a known bible-thumper aligned with the religious right-wing “powers that be” in Washington. I am wondering if he was able to influence this case in some way. » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 8:10 pm In a recent interview, Rep. Alan Grayson, the outspoken Congressman from Florida, stated that the House had passed over 100 bills and sent them to the Senate…where they remain with no action whatsoever. The Senate is definitely NOT doing its job!! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 4:50 pm There were so many stories this past year that slipped between the MSM cracks that I don’t know where to start. However, there is one that was completely unreported last February. The ACLU managed to get records released through a Freedom of Information Act law suit that were horrendous. These reports stated the three men had been beaten to death in the US-run prison at Bagram, Afghanistan. These men had been shackled to the ceiling and floor for days. The cause of death was cited as “blunt force trauma to the lower extremities”. I don’t think this needs any elaboration. Being the “news junkie” that I am, I waited for the outrage…it never happened. It was never picked up by the media in this country. That being said, the one story I do hope to see in 2010 is about the indictments and trials of G.W.Bush and Dick Cheney for war crimes and war profiteering. Few things would make me happier! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 3:19 pm My Poem ‘ A Thief in the Temple’ read by ME~ I completely agree, Hope! I think TRP is really on to something good here. A site for poets, with works read by the author, would be terrific! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 5:32 pm WOW! Scott, that is so much more powerful when you read it! I loved the poem to begin with, but this is great. Your voice is superb with good, clear diction! I’m not just trying to be “nice”…I’m telling you what I really think! Thanks so much for posting! I’m interested in hearing about your multi-media project. Again, a most Happy New Year! π Edit: I’m trying to discern your slight accent…where is it from? » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 31, 2009 @ 8:47 pm Hey Abby, I took more than an hour…it took that long to get the kitchen into shape! But when I sat down to take a break, I couldn’t keep my eyes open! Had to take a little “kitty nap”! These miscreants here on the Planet kept me up waaay too late last night! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 2:40 pm Yes, indeedy!! taffybelle joined just before midnight! Sorry you missed the festivities! It was nuts around here! And a good time was had by all! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 2:38 pm Okay, all you beautiful PlanetPeople! I have GOT to get offline and get some housework done! It’s all you fault that it hasn’t been done in several days! You keep posting the most interesting comments that I just have to respond! Don’t stop, please!! But I really have to sign off…beds unmade, trash to take out, sink full of dishes, and doggies that require some attention! Have a super day everyone! I’ll be back later, no doubt! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 10:05 am Hey Kes, I LOVED the ER! It made me really stay on my toes. You have to know a lot about everything and that was a challenge to me that I seemed to need. I also worked neuro ICU as well as immediate post-op open heart in the early days. But my favorite was ER. I have sworn to write a book about some of the experiences I had there. I loved the uncertainty of not knowing what was coming through those doors next. It certainly was NOT boring! And don’t get me started on health care reform!! I am so disappointed at what the Senate has done with it! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 9:53 am Abby, I wrote you a couple of comments on the turkey! I think they are on that thread…I lose track of where I’m at sometimes! LOL » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 9:42 am Great post, Pepe! I cut my musical teeth on “Big Band” as my dad was a jazz musician. Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Lionel Hampton…what great classics! Funny story…when I bought my first CD player some years ago, while the clerk was getting my purchase ready, I thought I had better buy a couple of discs to play. Having a rather eclectic taste, I chose a copy of Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” as well as Mozarts’ “Requiem Mass”. I cannot describe to you the look on that clerk’s face! It was priceless! But, as I told him, a classic is a classic! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 9:39 am Thanks, kes! I don’t blame you for taking on-call! Sometimes one just has to cut themselves a little slack! Having been an ER RN, I know what you do…and it ain’t easy! Have a good day, my friend! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 9:31 am Happy New Year, KK! Regarding the disagreement with the administration, I would have to agree with you. There have been some things that have given me pause. But the one thing we MUST recognize is that unless we as Democrats stick together and fight the republican attack machine this year, they will make substantial gains, perhaps taking control of the Senate again. This frightens me more than anything! I hope we can convince everyone who worked to get President Obama elected to once again get energized and get out the vote! If the Democrats stay home, you know what can happen. Again, my best wishes for a wonderful New Year! And my thanks…it just may have been your invite that brought me here! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 9:19 am Beautiful, WTS! But I thought the eternal question was, “Are we alone in the universe?” Just kidding! π I have made a few resolutions…to get up off my lazy buns and do some things around the house that need doing. I don’t know how well this is going to work out. I have this problem, you see…it’s called blogging at the Planet! I am positively addicted! I wish you only the very best in 2010! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 9:10 am I would like to co-sign your post, kes! This blog is fantastic and I love being with you all! Happy New Year! » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 9:03 am Abby, what an excellent comment! This could have been an article, standing on its own! I was thinking many of the same thoughts about the Planet. You underestimate your contributions, I feel. As for being a “newbie” here, we are all essentially new, none of us having been here more than a few months since the Planet was only born in August. What has impressed me has been the depth and intelligence of the people who have gravitated here. Who could have known from the short comments at HP that there was such a wealth of great opinions just waiting for a place to be expressed?? I am blown away on a daily basis! HP has lost more than they will ever know! Hope your turkey turns out well! That’s one of my few specialities in the kitchen! Constant basting is my trick. Have a great day, sweetie! I’ll be available to help you get rid of those left-overs! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On January 1, 2010 @ 9:00 am Okay, all you beautiful PlanetPeople! I’ve spent New Years Eve with you and enjoyed every minute of it! But my laptop is over-heating and I’m about to roast from it! Time to say good night and log off! I expect to see you all here EARLY tomorrow morning to take up the cause again! LOL A bunch of rowdy, hung-over drunks! Have a great night all! Love to each and every one of you! » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 31, 2009 @ 9:27 pm Oh, I may give that a try, although I really don’t want to go back over there to get bummed out with all the negativity! » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 31, 2009 @ 9:23 pm I tried to put it into a post that got promptly scrubbed! » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 31, 2009 @ 9:16 pm Patsy, good goin’! I love Steppenwolf! “Magic Carpet Ride” is a big favorite of mine! Reminds me of college…those were the days! » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 31, 2009 @ 9:14 pm We just have to bring the brightest and best over into the light! Are they still wiping the URL? » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 31, 2009 @ 9:10 pm Way to go there, KQ! Happy, happy New Year! I hope you will get better soon! You’d better…we need you here! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 31, 2009 @ 9:09 pm Wow! They are playing John Lennon’s “Imagine” over the crowd in Time Square! How wonderful…one of my all time favorite. I always choke up when I hear it! We have one minute to go here on the East Coast… My warmest and best wishes to you all! Happy New Year!! » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 31, 2009 @ 8:59 pm Agreed! Maybe in a few days we could ask again. I have so much respect for her brains! » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 31, 2009 @ 8:50 pm Adorable! I cannot believe that it’s less than half an hour ’til midnight for me here…and I’m sittin’ here watching videos of ferrets! LMAO » Posted By Emerald1943 On December 31, 2009 @ 8:37 pmComments Posted By Emerald1943
I plan to do everything in my power to see that it doesn’t!
Enjoy!
