The New Apostolic Reformation has joined up with the Southern Baptist Convention, the largest Protestant organization in the country, second only to the Catholic Church. The SBC boasts a membership of over 16 MILLION members. While I am sure that there are individual churches that do not subscribe to the loony tunes, there are very many that do. The NAR has managed to insert itself into state level politics, currently putting issues on ballots in at least two states, Mississippi and Ohio, mostly relating to their “hot button” issue, abortion and women’s reproductive rights. I would also remind you that they have TWO “anointed” candidates running for the office of President of the United States! It would be interesting to know how many of their people are involved in local politics all over this country. Your town council is certainly not immune. This is their agenda…to get their people elected wherever they can. We should all remember the big flap in Texas about their textbooks and the teaching of creationism. Apparently, the textbooks approved by the state of Texas also go to many other states. Texas is a bastion of NAR activity with Rick Perry being involved up to his eyeballs. Sister Sarah is also an “anointed” and but for her own misguided campaign, could have become Vice President…one heartbeat away. Michelle Bachmann thumps her bible and preaches to anyone who will listen. Thankfully, she won’t get the nomination, but we still have her sitting in Congress! These people are not to be ignored or overlooked! They are steadily and stealthily making progress. Perhaps they count on not being taken seriously, but when they start getting their anointed candidates on the national stage, and when they begin to advocate burning books and banning contraception, we had better take notice.
