Time Out for O/T – Vol. 17

Hi Adlib! It HAS been 24/7 Christie today! The blob is supposed to make a speech at the Reagan Library tonight, and the rumors are flying…will he? Won’t he?

Just now, MSNBC said Christie was NOT going to run. Oh well, who knows?

Most people probably don’t watch the news with the same jaundiced eye that we do. It’s sad to see the out-right manipulation of public opinion by the MSM. When one uses that jaundiced eye, it’s really easy to see what they are doing!

Oh…and did I mention he’s FAT??!! Grossly FAT! It’s enough to make me gag!

Khirad, I noticed the orange Palmetto flag too. I would assume it’s the Clemson thing. It’s almost as pervasive in SC as orange is in Tennessee for the UT Volunteers. I have seen the Palmetto flag mostly in dark blue or green. Not sure of the “official” color.

I would have to confirm your doubts…ain’t none of these good ol’ boys history buffs!

Good morning, Planteers!

I have to rant a little more today! What’s this constant drumbeat from the MSM about Chris Christie?? I am already completely sick of hearing it!

Christie, IMO, is the LAST man we need to represent us on the world stage. I can just imagine him waddling across the stage at some global conference, taking the podium and bullying other nations. Can you just imagine him confronting Putin? We could see the Cold War flare up all over again.

In my mind, he personifies everything the rest of the world despises about the US…tactless, bullying, selfish, and yes, grotesquely FAT! There, I’ve said it!

FAT! OBSCENELY FAT! Just the image we need to project around the world! Never mind his miserable politics, union busting and budget cutting, with no regard for the people he hurts.

Thank you for the opportunity to vent. Hang around for a while and I’ll tell you how I REALLY feel! πŸ™‚

Hi Kalima! Not to worry…I had to read it twice to make sure it was not actually a quote from her. After her rant yesterday about Hezbollah missile sites in Cuba, anything is possible!!

Khirad, I don’t know how much time you’ve spent in the South, but I’ve spent most of my life here, although North Carolina is not nearly as bad as other places, especially parts of SC down near the coast where cotton is still king. The poverty and ignorance there is stunning.

To other people, it’s shocking that anyone would be that insensitive to the feelings that this flag engenders in the black community. But I can tell you…there is no counting the number of pick-up trucks that still ride around with “rebel” flags flying or at least, decals of it on the windows! There are also easily obtained plates for the front of your vehicle with Confederate designs on them.

Some of the idiots that still think it’s a good idea to fly this flag, IMO, are just dumb rednecks that never had a critical thought in their tiny little brains, nor would they care if it upsets anyone. They revel in the “rebel” image, the “good ol’ boy” who displays his rifle in the rear window of his truck, drinks incredible amounts of beer with his buddies, and still holds it against the North about that nasty little war. In their minds, they are still fighting that war, hating all things “yankee”.

But the person in this article is obviously trying to cause problems. How sad that some people are not able to put that sad chapter of our history away forever.

Sorry…didn’t mean to get on a rant! πŸ™‚

Sue, are you sure you aren’t MIchelle Bachmann, masquerading as our beloved Sue???? You sound just like her…could it be??? Have you been fooling us all this time? πŸ™‚

LMAO!!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 27, 2011 @ 2:05 am

WOW! This is pretty fantastic! Congrats, Planet!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 27, 2011 @ 2:00 am

And SHE’S on the INTELLIGENCE committee???? LMAO

Seriously, I don’t care how many law degrees she has. I don’t think she is qualified to sit on that committee that deals with all kinds of very sensitive information. She is not only batshitcrazy, but dangerous as well! There’s no telling what she might say!

KT, As I just wrote above, Rev. Al is covering the redistricting issue, citing corporate money behind this. 1% less African-American voters in North Carolina and Obama will lose the state!

Rev. Al’s title is “Republicans Launch Massive Crackdown on Voter Rights”. They are also discussing ALEC! I am so glad this is hitting the MSM!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 26, 2011 @ 3:52 pm

KT, this is good. I just hope we can get enough signatures to our petition. It is so obvious what they are doing! I hope the DoJ stops them in their tracks.

ADDENDUM: Rev. Al is covering the redistricting issue right now on his show!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 26, 2011 @ 3:45 pm

Hey KT! They wouldn’t let me in!! LOL

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 26, 2011 @ 3:41 pm

Bito, this is incredible! I’ve not heard about it before. Being Buddhist, I think it’s great! If the Dharma is needed anywhere, a violent prison would be it! Even though you say it’s been stopped, I hope these men will continue to benefit.

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 26, 2011 @ 3:39 pm

Hooray!!! This is great! Good for the DoJ! There should be investigations elsewhere too!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 26, 2011 @ 3:36 pm

Good one, KT! πŸ™‚

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 26, 2011 @ 3:25 pm

Hey KT! Those would be a hot seller in Texas, I’ll bet! πŸ™‚

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 26, 2011 @ 3:24 pm

Hey Kes, you must tell e’cat about the hearings in Congress last week about the python regulations that would smother free enterprise and choke off jobs…pun intended! πŸ™‚

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 26, 2011 @ 5:10 am

Hey Kes, I’m really happy to see that you are keeping this very important story out front!! πŸ™‚

To hear the rethugs tell it, our economy depends on “freedom for pythons”! NO REGULATIONS!! Regulations are bad…didn’t you know that??

Yep, it’s a jobs killer all right…and if they don’t stop these damned snakes, it will be a people killer too! πŸ™‚

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 26, 2011 @ 5:08 am

Great comment, Adlib! I concur 100% and completely support the protesters!

What the police have not figured out yet is the fact that their brutal tactics are only making the protesters more determined. Surely the MSM cannot ignore this story much longer. I was encouraged to see the ABC coverage.

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 26, 2011 @ 5:04 am

Hi Invient! Please, please…just be careful! We don’t want anyone to get hurt! The police in NYC are using some pretty brutal tactics! I hope that won’t happen where you are.

What can we do to help consolidate the message? That seems to be a problem with this protest…too many disparate issues. While I understand that they all pretty much concern the same topic, we need to put our heads together here.

One good thing…ABC News is covering this morning! Maybe the rest of the MSM will catch up!

Keep us posted, and as I said, please be careful!

I thought you all might like to start out your week with a laugh!

The triumph of age and experience:

A farmer stopped by the local mechanic’s shop to have his truck fixed. They
couldn’t do it while he waited, so he said he didn’t live far away and would just
walk home.

On the way home he stopped at the hardware store and bought a bucket and a gallon of
paint. He then stopped by the feed store and picked up a couple of chickens and a
goose. However, struggling outside the store, he now had a problem: how to carry
his entire purchases home. While he was scratching his head he was approached by a
little old lady who told him she was lost. She asked, “Can you tell me how to get
to 1603 Mockingbird Lane?”

The farmer said, “Well, as a matter of fact, my farm is very close to that house. I
would walk you there but I can’t carry this lot.”

The old lady suggested, “Why don’t you put the can of paint in the bucket… carry
the bucket in one hand… put a chicken under each arm and carry the goose in your
other hand?”
“Why, thank you very much!” he said and proceeded to walk the old girl home.

On the way he says “Let’s take my short cut and go down this alley. We’ll be there
in no time.”

The little old lady looked him over cautiously then said, “I am a lonely widow
without a husband to defend me… How do I know that when we get in the alley you
won’t hold me up against the wall, pull up my skirt, and have your way with me?”

The farmer said, “Holy smokes lady! I’m carrying a bucket, a gallon of paint, two
chickens, and a goose. How in the world could I possibly hold you up against the
wall and do that?”

The old lady replied, “Set the goose down, cover him with the bucket, put the paint
on top of the bucket, and I’ll hold the chickens.”

Have a nice day, Planeteers! πŸ™‚

Funk, I really love the lightening strikes! That’s cool! πŸ™‚

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 25, 2011 @ 5:41 pm

funk, it’s ironic that the Guardian newspaper in the UK has more coverage than I’ve seen anywhere. The NY Daily News did cover it today, but as yet, TV has not done anything! If things continue to go in the same manner, we will be seeing more police brutality…but only if we go and hunt for it!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 25, 2011 @ 5:37 pm

Bito, I saw this on the live stream. The cops or whoever they were encircled these women and then just started spraying them in the face. It was horrible! The women were doing absolutely NOTHING to warrant this! I hope their legal aid will sue the cr*p out of the NYC cops!

Thanks for posting and keeping us updated!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 25, 2011 @ 5:23 pm

Sue, not sure what you mean…

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 25, 2011 @ 11:47 am

Kes, this just set my hair on fire!! Thanks for supporting MY bad mood! Those arrogant BAST*RDS!!

We need to post this video anywhere and everywhere we can! This just about sums it up!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 25, 2011 @ 11:06 am

Bito, I agree with you…they need to consolidate their message and get everybody on the same page. But this is, after all, a REAL grass-roots movement. God bless the students who are putting themselves out there on the front lines! They really need someone like Michael Moore to go down there to help get them organized. I did notice last night that there is union support now. Perhaps they can help.

I tuned in to the live stream last night for a while. They were asking for milk of magnesia, vinegar and other supplies for medical staff to treat people who have been pepper sprayed. I did not see, in the time that I watched, any behavior that would warrant arrest or pepper spray.

I would venture to say that this just may be the beginning of things boiling over in this country. I just hope that no one gets seriously injured.

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 25, 2011 @ 10:59 am

Kes, don’t ya’ just love it when you’re only “on call” on a Sunday afternoon? πŸ™‚ Let’s hope the moon is not full!

You just indulge yourself! I just wrote CNN the following suggestion:

“I cannot understand the media coverage blackout of the demonstrations on Wall Street, which have now spread to other cities across the country. Yesterday, for example, the police in NYC arrested over 100 people, using nets and pepper spray on restrained protesters. There is video of these events by independent journalists who have also been arrested, their equipment confiscated and in some cases destroyed. Considering the police presence in the area with a large number of “paddy wagons” as well as officers on foot, I am completely stumped at the total blackout of coverage. This is not simply a one-day event…today is Day #9 if I am correct. Why is CNN NOT covering this?”

I don’t know if it will do any good at all…but it makes me feel better! At least, I put my two cents in!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 25, 2011 @ 10:44 am

There there, Kes! It’s OK! You can be in a bad mood if you want to! In fact, I’m right there with you!

I think I’m going to write Howard Kurtz at CNN who usually does a pretty good job on the media about this story. I would like for somebody to explain to me why this is NOT being covered AT ALL! If there was ever a question about the media being a tool of the RW corporatists, this should clear it up! GRRR!

If, for no other reason, you might think that the MSM would cover the 100+ arrests of those nasty socialists!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 25, 2011 @ 10:24 am

Bito, thanks so much for posting this.

I loved the way he ended it with a slap on the side of the podium! This is President Obama at his very best! Fired up and ready to go!!
πŸ™‚

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 25, 2011 @ 10:16 am

Kes, now if we could just get them to listen to him!! But they don’t listen to anyone! πŸ™
