And they played a clip of VP Biden making a speech about it today. » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 20, 2011 @ 7:52 pm Cher, if there was every any question about the rethugs wanting to tank the economy for political purposes, here is the answer! » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 20, 2011 @ 7:36 pm BREAKING NEWS: @ 10:30pm Eastern time The Republicans have just blocked the portion of the Jobs bill that would have created 400,000 jobs for firefighters, police, and teachers! Just another day at the office…more of the same old shit! EDIT: I AM SO ANGRY RIGHT NOW THAT I CAN HARDLY TYPE THIS! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE????? » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 20, 2011 @ 7:26 pm Hi Sabreen! You are right…Cain is just plain stupid! He’s so far over his head and I think he’s just making it up as he goes along. Palin wasn’t treated that way because she wasn’t running for the Presidency. We were stuck with her after McCain put her on the ticket. And of course, she had every rethug male in the country drooling at her spike heels and little short skirts, doin’ a little pageant walkin’!! But the point remains that they are both given credibility by the MSM. I simply don’t understand why!!! » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 20, 2011 @ 7:24 pm Hi KT! I was talking with my very Democratic niece last night about politics, our favorite subject. We were speculating about what the President’s second term was going to be like…and what wonderful things we will be able to do…IF!! We gotta’ take back the House and pick up a few extra seats in the Senate! » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 20, 2011 @ 7:12 pm Hey bito, President Obama would surely win Florida! π π π » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 20, 2011 @ 7:10 pm Good morning, e’cat! You are so right! And the worst part is that this guy who owned the animals had once been charged with animal abuse! Jack Hanna, the conservation guy, was on TV last night and he was obviously very upset by this whole thing. He stated that there were so few Bengal tigers left in the world and that 18 had to be killed here! What a travesty! This whole thing makes me sick! How can Gov. Kasich sleep at night after this debacle? Oh, I forgot…he’s republican! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 20, 2011 @ 6:10 am Hey, Kes! I have been watching the coverage of the sad story of the exotic animals loosed in Ohio last night, and I thought about you as you live there. This is horrible! Apparently, your governor overturned the ban on having these kinds of animals…booooo, hissss! Governor Kasich overturned the ban based on the fact that it would “hurt small businesses”! A typical rethug rationale! But it did bring up an old subject, the attempt to ban the interstate traffic in pythons! Rachel brought it up on her show tonight. We’re back to discussing those huge snakes, as well as Bengal tigers and the like! What is wrong with these people…both those who would keep them, and the governor who thinks it’s OK to do so?? The end result is many beautiful dead animals! This is so wrong on so many levels! » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 19, 2011 @ 9:23 pm Hi Khirad! I’m glad you posted this, but what an embarrassment! It kinda’ reminds me of when Bush would go overseas and do something really dumb that made all of us cringe! Apparently, Mr. Etschmayer has not heard where Cain got his idea. The old computer game, “Sims City” was the impetus for this mind-numbing plan! Not exactly something to be proud of! http://www.stuff.co.nz/technology/games/5796688/Republicans-tax-plan-taken-from-Sim-City You have to hand it to “Herb” Cain! He’s got something really catchy and simple that the average repub voter can get his head around without any mental calisthenics! With his marketing experience from the pizza business, he would know that this cr*p would catch on! It’s the old “KISS” principle..keep it simple, stupid! » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 19, 2011 @ 8:48 pm Hi Kes! I saw that bit tonight. I just thought I felt sick BEFORE I saw it. After the clip, well…let’s just say the emesis basin is handy to have around! I don’t know who was the smarmiest!! I wonder how Marcus felt about that little scene! On second thought, no I don’t! I couldn’t care less! Hey, what’s Bachmann’s obsession with John Wayne anyway?? » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 19, 2011 @ 8:28 pm Caru, π π π » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 5:06 pm Hi Cher! Back some six months ago or so, Senator Chuck Schumer was the very first person to actually come out and make the statement that the rethugs were deliberately trying to tank the economy for their own political purposes. While this is exactly what I was thinking, I was shocked to hear anyone actually say it in the media. The comment was glossed over and little was said about it at the time. However, several other news sites picked up on the story a little later, and it seemed to come to the forefront during the debt ceiling debacle. To anyone that really watches the news or keeps up with Washington politics, it should be as plain as the nose on your face! There has been little doubt that this is what they are attempting to do, even willing to risk the credit rating of the US government so that they can make President Obama look bad! The simple fact that that American Jobs Act could not even come up for debate because of rethug filibuster is certainly in the faces of the American people! It is encouraging to me that they are waking up to the problems that the rethug Congress is causing. I sincerely hope that the thugs keep bashing the Occupy movement. This is energizing the President’s base and letting the people know who has their best interests at heart. I think the President should use this to his advantage, and he should keep pushing the jobs act, calling out the rethugs by name for their miserable obstruction! You know they will balk at passing even a part of the Jobs Act. This will just put more icing on the cake! » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 5:01 pm Yep, AB! How could I have been so clueless??? π » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 4:42 pm Bito, I think you might have a problem with the name “Second Harvest”. That is the name of our local food bank! π I’m serious! I don’t think they’d take kindly to your unique inventory and marketing strategy! In fact, you just might be viewed as “un-American” for avoiding the 9% sales tax! But if you need “seed” money, why not ask Congress??? They certainly have enough there to spread around! All about small business, you know! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 4:17 pm Haruko, thank you for posting this sad story. I have read about this lady some time ago and her wonderful work on behalf of native Americans. I know she will be sorely missed! » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 4:02 pm Hey bito, the part that’s so stunning is that he should know that someone would pull up that information about the American Petroleum Institute. Does he think we are all that stupid, or is he just that stupid??? Never mind…I know the answer to that question! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 3:56 pm Eewwwwwwww, AB! That is truly gross…but it’s still funny! Used food! That man is crazy as a bedbug! » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 3:54 pm Rev. Al just hit it out of the park! “Koch-Cain”…..hahahahaha! Seems that Mr. Cain has some strong ties with the Koch brothers! It’s getting hotter in the kitchen for sure! π Must be those pizza ovens over-heating! » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 3:37 pm Thanks funk! This is almost over my little pea-brain head, but I am saving it for reading later tonight! Great news!! 3.5% is terrific! » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 3:34 pm Hey Adlib, that has to be in error! π But…but…but the “job creators”!!! » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 3:32 pm This is really good news, bito! President Obama needs to make sure that every voter in this country sees that chart with its trend! » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 3:31 pm Bito, dumpster diving again? π » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 2:49 pm KT, excellent! And besides that, he’s dumber than a box of rocks! π 9-9-9??? He’s gotta’ be kidding! » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 2:48 pm WOW, Adlib! This is a real jolt! I was not expecting to see those kind of numbers…also funk’s GDP announcement just above your comment! Now you know that the rethugs will run to the mic and brag that their “job creators” have caused it! We could write the script, I’ll bet! π ADDENDUM: Just another thought – some have predicted that President Obama can be re-elected if the unemployment rate falls to below 8%. If this trend continues, he just might make it! Great news! » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 2:39 pm Hi funk! WOW! That would be incredible! Do you have a link for that? I would love to read it! Thanks for posting! That brightens my day! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 2:36 pm Bito, this is really interesting but something that I expected…no shock at all! One point that may or may not make any difference…blogs have sprouted like weeds in the past 5 or 6 years and seem to be much more active now than in the past, especially political blogs. I would like to see simply TV and print coverage rated, leaving the blogs out. My main reason for this is that many of them are simply not journalistic, but instead, some meat head with an axe to grind. How sad that only one candidate, Newt, got just a tiny bit more negative coverage than the President. Newt deserved it…Obama didn’t!! It would also be interesting to see how past Dem. presidents have fared against repub candidates at this point in their terms. » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 2:30 pm Hi cyrano! I’m so glad you read the President’s speech, but I would encourage you to listen to it also, if you have a chance to do so. It is so moving! He was definitely feeling it as he spoke. » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 11:53 am Hi Caru! Is THAT what we sent you to college for??? LMAO I hope things are going well for you! Keep us updated on your progress…not the juggling, but the rest of the good stuff! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 11:50 am Hi e’cat! Wow! That’s really good! Thanks for posting it! I hope you won’t mind if I share it. π » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 11:49 am Bito, you beat me to the punch again! π I was just about to post President Obama’s speech when I saw this. IMO, this has to go down as one of his best and most inspiring speeches of the first term! I am still stunned at his eloquence, even after listening to him for the past several years. He never fails to teach and inspire us to reach deeply for our best and highest ideals. I especially liked the part about government being the commitment that we make to each other…very profound! I will admit that I was moved to tears as he spoke. I believe that he was also feeling the moment. I am so completely proud of this man and the job he is doing! BTW, I saw this posted over at “The People’s View” this morning. One comment from a “regular” there said that she always printed out the President’s speeches to share with her grandchildren. I thought that this was a great idea and one that I am going to take up for my grandkids too. A scrapbook would be great with his speeches included…a kind of history of his Presidency for them to read, a personal version as opposed to what the MSM puts out. And also, I heard the President’s speech from Asheville, NC this morning. He was here in my state to push the Jobs Act. I can report that he received overwhelming support for his efforts and a very appreciative crowd! He is continuing to call the rethugs out on their obstruction…and that can’t be all bad for his electoral prospects! He will make two other appearances in NC today and tomorrow before traveling by bus to Virginia. Just FYI… » Posted By Emerald1943 On October 17, 2011 @ 9:42 amComments Posted By Emerald1943
