Newt may just be the new “flavor” with both Perry and Cain going in the tank, but he’s got so much very old baggage. His personality is also a question…he’s do darn grumpy. Wait until the next debate. He’ll do what he usually does, chastise the moderators for some perceived slight. » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 11, 2011 @ 11:19 am Hey Auntie, read Cher’s latest piece about the pathology of the right wing! It explains a lot! You should realize why we don’t have that kind of reporting…commercials!! You gotta’ have time for commercials! » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 10, 2011 @ 7:14 pm Adlib, totally excellent! I am laughing out loud and the puppies are looking at me funny! π I have to watch it again! “Baby yo’ breath is killin’ me!” “Happy hooch day!” » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 10, 2011 @ 7:10 pm Bito, I was remiss for not inviting others to add to the list! Thanks! Every little bit of good news helps! π BTW, I love Kasich’s numbers! If he doesn’t watch out, he’ll be as popular as the repubs in Congress!! » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 10, 2011 @ 4:38 pm I’m in such a good mood tonight! There’s lots of good stuff happening that is looking great for our prospects! 1. The Do-Nothing Congress passed the Veterans’ part of the Jobs Act today. Bernie Sanders did say, however, that it was a “modest” bill. Maybe somebody read the polls? 2. Kasich got beat! Yay!!!!! Collective bargaining is safe in Ohio…for now! (Don’t ya’ know that Scott Walker in Wisconsin needs a clean pair of shorts about now!) 3. The Koch brothers lost a bunch of money on these elections!! YAY!!! 4. The Democrats took many elections all over the country…repubs’ buyers’ remorse??? YAY!! 5. It was just reported that 40% of repub voters now see Cain less favorably! YAY!! (But just remember, he has not harassed EVERY woman he’s ever met…just some of them!) 6. Rick Perry completely blew it last night!! YAY!!! 7. The GOP attempt to let corporations take over the Internet was defeated! YAY!! 8. One more sex pervert is going to prison for raping little boys! YAY!! 9. The Dems now control the Wake County School Board again, defeating the Koch plans to re-segregate the schools. YAY! Now, if we can just do something about that damned Citizens United thing… π » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 10, 2011 @ 3:56 pm Hey Auntie, Al Jazeera DID make a documentary about the sleazy Kochs. We had it here on PPOV about a week ago. It was really informative! I’ll try to find it and give you the link. Stay tuned…here ’tis! http://www.aljazeera.com/programmes/peopleandpower/2011/10/2011102683719370179.html Definitely worth watching! I don’t know why OUR TV won’t do stuff like this as a public service! » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 10, 2011 @ 3:34 pm Hey KT, yes, that was a really good movie. The man was completely insane for the last several years…just like our GOP buddies! » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 10, 2011 @ 3:31 pm Thanks to the Blov, AB! I stand corrected…but does it really make much difference? #49 in the country or #50…dumb is dumb! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 10, 2011 @ 3:29 pm OMG, Auntie! Flush Loosebowels!! ROTFLMFAO!!! » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 10, 2011 @ 3:25 pm KT, “It’s like the education system of Mississippi stuck in one man!” LMAO π » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 10, 2011 @ 2:45 pm Bito, FANTASTIC!!! I am really happy to see this news! The Koch brothers can just wait! (Smarmy bastids!) I’m glad the decision by the President is being put off until possibly after the 2012 election. Either way he goes with this, he’s going to catch hell! The Big Oil boys on the Hill will be all over him as “anti-business” if he turns it down. I can write the script! This nasty stuff is not going to do one thing to help our dependence on foreign oil. It is to be exported into the world market as virtually all oil is. We don’t really want it anyway as it produces up to 45% more green house gases than oil from regular wells. As a matter of fact, I think that the UK has already banned it there. Thanks for posting this! Along with the news about Net Neutrality, I am encouraged this afternoon! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 10, 2011 @ 2:38 pm Good evening, everyone! I just got an email with some really good news! Apologies if somebody else has already posted it.. “Earlier today, the Senate voted 52 – 46 to reject a GOP measure to overturn Net This is great news! The GOP will not give up easily though! We gotta’ get rid of those guys, once and for all! » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 10, 2011 @ 2:26 pm Adlib, this is outrageous! Someone is going to die in an episode like this. One baton hit on a student’s head in the wrong place is all it will take. We will have another Kent State on our hands. I have never understood why cops turn sadistic. I’m sure there are thousands of “good” cops out there, but it only takes a few bad apples on a power trip. They get away with violence and never seem to be punished for going over the line. Once the line is crossed, they all happily join in. Maybe there needs to be a standard of intense psychological testing before one can become a policeman. These guys clearly have some issues and need to be weeded out of the force. » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 10, 2011 @ 4:59 am Kes, I was somewhat confused on this Issue #3, especially since is it being argued in the courts and should eventually be considered by SCOTUS. If SCOTUS upholds it, I don’t know if it matters what the State of Ohio wants. » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 9, 2011 @ 3:30 pm Sally, love me some Steinbeck! That was a great one! » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 9, 2011 @ 3:23 pm KT, I have always thought that Johnson was manipulated by the big boys over at the Pentagon and the CIA who wanted their war. But I also wonder if it went a little deeper than that. Could Johnson have been complicit in JFK’s assassination? If so, the CIA and the Pentagon could have been putting incredible pressure on him to escalate. I have always thought the CIA had something to do with JFK’s death. I don’t want to open up Pandora’s box here, but there is so much that we’ll never know. I surely don’t want to live forever, but I would love to hang around long enough for ALL the documents about JFK to be de-classified! » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 9, 2011 @ 3:14 pm Sally, I saw the broadcast live the other night and laughed my arse off! She nailed it! We did have quite a discussion about it that night. Wish you had been here! Poetry from Pokemon, 9-9-9 tax plan from Sim City…this guy is such a joke! He seems to revel in his ignorance! His weird TV ad by Mark Block and the cigarette thing was just trying to tell us that Cain is “blowing smoke”! Cain is toast! There is no way the very conservative bible-thumpers are going to put up with a serial sexual predator as their presidential candidate! Joke or no joke! » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 9, 2011 @ 3:06 pm KT, I’m always in “pre-hibernation”, but I figured you were late getting here due to being out celebrating all night! In fact, Kes was late getting here too! Hmmmmmmm! What have you two been up to?? π Last night’s results are really giving my mood a boost today! Let’s hope this is a sign of things to come next November! » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 9, 2011 @ 2:53 pm Bito, one thing we haven’t really discussed today was the victory against voter suppression in Maine. This is wonderful news that the people stood up and fought back! I am so proud of them! This outcome and all the others around the country should be a huge wake-up call to the rethugs. They have over-reached badly and the people are not going to take it anymore! I am so encouraged! » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 9, 2011 @ 2:50 pm KT, good one! π That’s him alright! » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 9, 2011 @ 2:43 pm Hey bito, last night there was a good interactive map for Ohio. I’ll try to go back and find it and give you the link. » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 9, 2011 @ 2:41 pm KT, heh heh! Channeling the Village Idiot! That’s it!! π Cain has as much as said exactly that…he didn’t need to know the President of Uz-beki-beki-beki-stan-stan. He would just ask somebody! What an idiot! » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 9, 2011 @ 2:39 pm Kes, I’m glad you are here! That was my point exactly! I don’t trust this guy any further than I can throw that bus he’s under!! π He’s been working with ALEC on his little diabolical plans. I’m sure they’ve got something else up their sleeves to strip the people of their rights! » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 9, 2011 @ 2:20 pm KT, I had a hard time with that video of the judge beating his daughter too. It would not do for me to be there! » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 9, 2011 @ 2:06 pm Sally, I hate it when the thread runs out too soon! I am not worried about the OWS being able to put up a third-party candidate. They still seem to be so scattered with little consensus sometimes. And there are lots and lots of them who simply want nothing to do with politics at all. With their consensus way of doing things, I doubt they will be able to front any credible candidate. » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 9, 2011 @ 2:04 pm Hi KT! It’s about time you showed up today! π This is just so great! It was a really good night for the Dems everywhere! The Kochs took a beating last night too…how sweet it is! Their candidate for the Wake County NC School Board lost in a special run-off election. Not sure of the amount but it had been rumored that AFP had put a bunch of money into it. Too bad!! π You know they’ve got their panties in a knot today over Ohio! Again, too bad! And the Dominionists lost in Mississippi! (I love to report that so I can impress you with being able to spell Mississippi correctly!) π The pill is safe, at least for a while. The far right-wing religious nuts have already said they are not giving up. No surprises here. Congrats on the win up there! We were pulling for you! I guess Kes was out dancing all night! π » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 9, 2011 @ 1:58 pm Done! My god, is there NOTHING sacred??? » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 9, 2011 @ 1:50 pm Murph, the thread ran out too soon. This is to your comment below about debunking the claim that the Dems did this. Of course the Dems didn’t do this. Cain is not going to get the nomination and they know that. I think they’d welcome his candidacy because President Obama would eat Cain’s lunch! PBO is polling ahead of Cain by at least 15 points, and I can see nothing that would help Cain to close the gap. If Karl is anything, he is politically a genius. Anyone who could make the Village Idiot into a legit candidate in 2000 would have to be. I don’t think that he believes the TP will voluntarily go for Romney, but he’s counting on their intense hatred of Obama to herd them into lock-step when Romney is nominated. Let’s hope that Morning Joke is right…that the Repubs just stay home! That would be poetic justice! » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 9, 2011 @ 12:35 pm KQ, that is consolation to me that if a third-party candidate does come out, it will definitely be on the conservative side. They don’t seem to be astute observers of history and I personally hope that they continue in that vein. I don’t think even the professional left would be crazy enough to put another candidate up to siphon votes away from the President. At least, there has been next to nothing mentioned about it. » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 9, 2011 @ 12:25 pm Sally, thanks for sharing your personal story. I, too, had a number of “encounters” in my younger days. Unfortunately, these pay-offs happen too often too. Just take the money and shut up! That does nothing to expose the predators and puts the woman in an untenable position. I hope that this thing with Cain will open up a frank discussion about sexual harassment in the workplace that is sorely needed in this country. Enough is enough already! This also brings up the issue of how rape victims are treated by law enforcement and the justice system. Many women are hesitant to bring charges because they know they will be pilloried in court and in the press. It’s no wonder that a lot of sexual predators get off scot-free in these cases. The situation with Cain just puts a spotlight on the way women are treated in general. I wonder if we’ll ever see a change in the attitudes. » Posted By Emerald1943 On November 9, 2011 @ 12:17 pmComments Posted By Emerald1943
