A warning about trolls

No need to explain about guilt–I am the typical Jewish mother (21st century version).

The other night my husband (who is Chinese) pointed this out to me. He was in bed watching TV. When I got in I wanted to change the channel, but before I did I said, “Do you want to keep watching your show, or do you want to get up tired in the morning?”

He started laughing real hard and I didn’t get why. When he stopped laughing long enough to tell me, he said, “Why didn’t you just say you want to change the channel?” Old habits die hard.

Hi Nellie– help!

I just failed at uploading a photo to my post. I uploaded it smack in the middle of the text. Can you save me from humiliation? either way, thank you!

Ponderous is right.

Please don’t do that KK! It is not that she is a self-described “libertarian/anarchist”– that position is kind of fascinating. It is that she is very divisive and I have yet to read any substance from her. She is the queen of lame snark, and her smug self-obsession is–to me –a pathology. She doesn’t have the intellectual chops and IMHO a light-weight 22 year old.

I’m here, KK. I am still toggling between both sites. Glad you are here too.

The New Face of the Senate Health Care Bill

I can’t stand Rahm and the DLC either. When Rahm’s COS appointment was first announced, I thought he’d be pretty good– I remembered all the times I’d seen him in interviews, eating Reptilians for lunch. He was a much better Congressman than a staffer. He is obnoxious and not nearly as liberal as I mistook him to be.

A happy turn of events for this greyhound

Yes- the butter! A whole stick was gone in a blink of the eyes. It must have gone down real smooth.

Plus, he’s really warm to lay next to. (Don’t tell my husband! He disapproves of dogs in the bed.)I love my pets so much. But Zorro is special– maybe because he was so young (about six weeks old) he never takes his eyes off me. Knows my every move before I make it. I’ll shut up now, but I bet you have a million wonderful stories about your “kids” too.

Escat– that was amazing! Great writing and a wonderful, wonderful post. I am a dog lover myself, but even if I wasn’t your writing was gripping.

I noted that the first thing you did when you met Country Girl was to walk her. Do you watch The Dog Whisperer? I love that show because it’s all about understanding the essence of dogs and treating them with respect for the wonderful creatures they are, instead of laying our own needs on them.

I have one of the best dogs ever now– Zorro– who I got from the shelter as a pup. He grew to over 100# and so tall he can easily rest his chin on the dining room table (how convenient). A big Shepard mix who wants to be a lap dog.

Thank you so much for the work you do with greys!

Please– no need to apologize! You were helping. I just finished tinkering and it’s fun!

» Posted By Chernynkaya On December 14, 2009 @ 12:45 pm

Thanks–yet again! One day, hopefully, you’ll never have these questions from me again. I am saving your answers. So funny, as I was posting that article and editing it, my heart was pounding in fear! You’d have thought I was making an emergency landing in a 747–like some stewardess in a 70’s action movie.

» Posted By Chernynkaya On December 14, 2009 @ 12:23 pm

It does help– a lot. But I got a screen message saying Nellie is currently editing this post, so I’ll do this next time.

I love you both!!

Good Morning, Kalima! I am a Left Coaster, so I am usually out of step with most posters, but that’s OK. I love tea! I usually brew it loose, but am not snobby about tea bags. And, like you, my first cup MUST have sugar.

Being new here I want to tell you about something I noticed yesterday: This place is beginning to have a positive effect on me!I spent most of my time at the Planet yesterday, only visiting my usual hangout sporadically. Each time I went there, I noticed how my blood pressure seemed to increase. But by the early evening (I usually get off the ‘puter by 4:30 PST)when I went over there, my whole tone had changed.

Posters to whom I would ordinarily snark or yell at, I reasoned with. There were two in particular–very spoiled brats who were adamant that the Dems were worthless(and I know that they ARE Dems). I started replying to them in a whole new way–with understanding at their frustrations and with plain facts. After a couple of exchanges, their whole tone changed. They started posting as if I were a real person, not an anonymous poster. They became sincere. There was something resembling a dialogue. I credit the atmosphere on this Planet for making me a better, calmer–and nicer–poster. Thank you for your work here.

Javez, I am so very sorry that your brother died! I know the pain of losing family–other than my son, I am all that’s left. And while the intensity of the pain lessens, as you sadly know, it never goes away. My deepest condolences to you.

The Failed History of Conservatism in America

KQUARK: first, let me just tell you that when looking for this article, I was absolutely blown to kingdom come by the wealth of content you have put on this site. I can spend days and days reading your wonderful posts! When will I ever get the time?! (But I’ll MAKE the time.) Just, WOW. I am so impressed and admiring!

Anyway, back to this subject. You do what i like to do, which is try to put things in perpsective by looking to our history, and sure enough, I always find that things have been worse in times past. Conservatism has an inglorious history– that’s indisputable!

And BTW– you also have great taste in music!

A New Way To Fight Right Wing Trolls on HP

darleneslee I just came form there and couldn’t take any more! WTF. “No difference” between Bush and Obama? Those people are outrageous. I am enraged. I feel it’s my duty to go there and try to reason with people, but I honestly can’t take more than about a half hour.
