The Daily Planet, Vol. 189

Khirad, the huge story about reorganizing Federal agencies just happened and I love it, I can’t wait to see how the Reptiles will scurry to oppose streamlining!
And Rush Linbaugh is a pilinoidal cyst on the hairy ass of the media. BTW, did you know his station, Clearchannel, is owned by Bain Capital? Heh. But hinestly, I cannot remember this blatant racism EVER on national media. We should be in the streets about that alone.

C’Lady, you’ve articulated my position exactly. As another example, I wish the same fate had awaited A Q Khan.

I didn’t know that about the fetus. These people are sick! Same as Santorum taking home the stillborn and sleeping with it. Yes, people deal with grief in many ways, but there is something very unwholesome about this obsession with dead baby bodies.

Sue, he spent a year in jail but was released. What gets me is, how people can game the election system like this. Whatever loophole he’s using needs to be closed.

KT, I’m thinking the same. But to be really honest (and I know intellectually that this is wrong) I think these kinds of actions are not that terrible, if the victim is a bad player. And I know–slippery slope.

Revelations of a 24-Hour MSM Cycle

Oh, I think you should! I take out some of those frustrations on Twitter. I follow most of the major news orgs and Dem bloggers and sites. Whenever I see something that is wrong, I reply to them with a correction and a link. Sometimes they follow me back. And most of them actually reply to me. My best coup was Joan Walsh–she follows me now because I corrected her. For those on Twitter, I really recommend following your local news affiliates–they DO respond.

Sue, this just plain rocks! I love it. I wish we could each spend just one hour per person watching one particular “news” show and report on the inaccuracies and the slant of each story. I know I spend a lot of time talking back to my TV and telling them how wrong they are! But what can we expect when the NYT’s writes (as they did yesterday)”Are we truth vigilantes?” If they have to ask that–this from the “Newspaper of Record”–we doomed.

As you may know, the state of the press in the US is one of my largest concerns and frustrations. So BRAVA!

Sue, forgive me for replying so late–busy day. First, I really appreciate your kind words! But second, I’m not sure I understand what you mean, it makes sense to me. What am I missing, because if it doesn’t make sense to you, something must be off!

Sally and CL: I just got new glasses–reading AND long distance (actually they now make prescriptions for computer users–who knew?) But I got tired of spending a fortune and went to Costco. Two pairs plus the eye exam for under $250. And I think the frames were nice. But as Sally said, they all look like crap on an old face. Still, I was thrilled at the price.

» Posted By Chernynkaya On January 12, 2012 @ 12:46 am

C’Lady, I’d forgotten all about that! That was a big deal and it was pretty scandalous. Thanks!

» Posted By Chernynkaya On January 12, 2012 @ 12:42 am

Yeah, I just heard her on Ed, and thought, “What’s up with her? Is she trying to sound grave and portentous? I did like “Goodnight Mitt” though. AdLib would have done it better.

Amen. You said it.

That’s a keeper, and I put it in tomorrow’s DP too.

My son has a friend who was in an even better study, Sally. He was paid to smoke different grades of medical marijuana to determine if they were strong, weak, made you paranoid, happy, hungry, etc. What a gig!!

C’Lady, I would reconsider if Arianna was no longer associated with HPAOL.

» Posted By Chernynkaya On January 11, 2012 @ 5:02 pm

E’Cat–Heh! No kidding! BTW we were talking about you on Vox Pop Friday, hoping for more Rashamon.

» Posted By Chernynkaya On January 11, 2012 @ 5:01 pm

KQ, I wonder what made Kos change his tune? Reality? Anyway, I’m glad. Also, you do know that Soros funds ThinkProgress–which is also my MOST trusted source. It not only publishes important news, it provides copious links for every assertion. (Sometimes I dread re-posting them because I’m lazy and it takes a long time to put up all their links!)

Lynettema, I appreciate BOTH your comments. I am actually more disgusted by those so-called Progressive sites than I am at, say, Fox. To me they are the same as Concern Trolls. That’s y biggest beef with Huff–it pretends to be Liberal while surreptitiously bashing Obama. I unsubscribed to The Nation too. (However, Melissa Harris-Perry blogs there, and I like her.)I agree with you–if it’s an important story (REAL news) I can find better coverage elsewhere. One of the frustrating things I found though, is that sometimes an interesting story will be on HPAOL, and since I refuse to click there, I find that more trusted sources are using HPAOL as THEIR source. In other words, it’s becoming increasingly incestuous.

» Posted By Chernynkaya On January 11, 2012 @ 4:56 pm

C’Lady, you’re a real mensch! Love you.

» Posted By Chernynkaya On January 11, 2012 @ 2:40 pm

Normally I would take offense, but I’m with you on this. I unsubscribed to TO long ago. I get most of my news from those I follow on Twitter, and I only follow actual progressives and never Emos. When one of my trusted sources recommends a TO article, that’s when I read it. Today I posted a piece from Bill Kristof of National Review! Why? Because he’s criticizing Bain.I think that’s something to know about.

BTW, I used t0 feel the same way about Daily Kos, but you know what? They have published more pro-Obama articles in the past 6 months than any other Liberal site. They have especially targeted purist Progs. I prefer to keep informed–and hopefully to inform PPOV readers– when there is good info, no matter the source. One exception: I will never post a story from HPAOL.

Sally, the Party needs to start grooming someone asap. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Sherrod Brown.

» Posted By Chernynkaya On January 10, 2012 @ 8:43 pm

Agreed CL. Plus, he already wrote that he admires Obama:

AL, I know it won’t happen, but consider this: Biden always said he wanted to be SoS, and Hillary said she might want to quit after the first term. So it wouldn’t necessarily be seen in a bad light.

» Posted By Chernynkaya On January 10, 2012 @ 8:27 pm

Sally, the thing is, I think she said she doesn’t want to run again. Also, she’s quitting as SoS after the election.
