As Winston Churchill said, “Leave it the Americans to figure out a way to do it….after they have tried everything else!” We may be bumbling around at times, but if anything we are tenacious! Praying for you, WTH and the people of Japan… » Posted By BigDogMom On March 16, 2011 @ 5:37 am Morning kalima, keeping you, WTS and the people of Japan in my prayers… Regarding the global rescue teams, I have given annually to the Search Dog Foundation that trains the rescue teams and their dogs for this type of work since 9/11. It is a great organization, I get e-mail updates on their progress in Japan, this shows the teams sent to Japan to help: http://www.searchdogfoundation.org/98/html/index.html My heart goes out to you, WTS and the people of Japan, pray that no more shocks large enough to cause any more damage or take any more lives…stay safe, you are in my thoughts. » Posted By BigDogMom On March 14, 2011 @ 5:25 am Morning Cher, it is in a way a jobs program, but it also funds the MIC. If these bases were closed, not only would we have large influx of unemployed, it would also trickle down to the contractors who service these bases. Forcing more layoffs and some businesses who mfg these goods to close…we have created a monster, and there is no easy solution to fix this. » Posted By BigDogMom On March 3, 2011 @ 8:18 am Morning AB, Cold here in CT once again, smelled like Spring yesterday, was out yesterday morning picking up all the branches that had fallen from my trees that were buried in snow for the last 6 weeks. Dog helped by chewing some of them down to mulch for me, then barfing them back up again…what a guy! Spent last night reading seed catalogues, how sad is that? Look forward to your pics of your garden… » Posted By BigDogMom On March 3, 2011 @ 7:53 am Morning Khirad, agree with you on Manning, what he has done does not, in my opinion, does not constitute the death penalty. I believe this is being thrown out there to warn others, if they were thinking of doing the same thing. Trivia Q: A: John Muir, founder of the Sierra Club is the only well known “naturalist” that I know of. » Posted By BigDogMom On March 3, 2011 @ 6:04 am Hope all is well with you, hubby and your brood…Charlie is on every station, on every blog and every newspaper, more than “GaDaffyDuck”…I know it’s bad when hubby changes the channel to “Morning Joe”, who he hates with a passion, then finally switches the TV off and sits in silence drinking his coffee…you just can’t seem to get away from “CHARLIE”! 😮 » Posted By BigDogMom On March 2, 2011 @ 6:11 am Here in CT, in fact most of the Northeast, you see stone walls delineating 1,000’s of old property lines, they are every where. Some towns you cannot remove them, because they are designated a historical monument, you can only repair them. There is an old joke in CT, “What do you grow on your farm?”…”Rocks” 😆 That is probably why we have so many stonewalls here…farmers removed them in order to till the land, so being the frugal Yankee, they built walls and homes out of them! » Posted By BigDogMom On March 2, 2011 @ 6:07 am Morning Kalima, re: Charlie Sheen V. Muammar Gaddafi…at this point it will be very difficult to distinguish between the two of them if Charlie starts dressing up in self-designed military uniforms like “Gadfly”…delusions of grandeur doesn’t even come close in describing these two, more like nucking futs! I’m going to go walk the dog now, need some quiet time with out Charlie in my face » Posted By BigDogMom On March 2, 2011 @ 5:38 am Agree PW, Sing Sing it is…. » Posted By BigDogMom On March 2, 2011 @ 5:33 am Morning boomer, I posted that same story here on Monday, (guess it got buried with everything else going on), makes you wonder what else they have in mind for us in the future. What saddens me is that this story will never make the MSM, unless the NYT or the WaPo picks it up, America will continue to live in the dark and then it may be too late. » Posted By BigDogMom On February 23, 2011 @ 5:25 am Morning Kalima, answer to Trivia Q: Silk Road » Posted By BigDogMom On February 23, 2011 @ 5:21 am On Putin’s million dollar Palace: A Russian magazine, Kommersant Dengi, reported last month that Mr Putin and Mr Medvedev share between them at least two dozen palaces, villas and mansions. In his official income declaration last year, Mr Putin said he earned the equivalent of around £80,000. Mr Putin may contest a presidential election which is due next year. His supporters believe the claim about the palace has more to do with politics and may be part of a dirty tricks campaign against him. Nah, no corruption there, he just was very frugal in his personal expenses and was able to save enough money from his $80K salary for the down payment on this nice little home…. » Posted By BigDogMom On February 15, 2011 @ 8:39 am Yes, it is the “purse” that hangs off the belt in the front of the kilt…some of them are quite nice! Sun is out here too this morning, but cold and windy… » Posted By BigDogMom On February 15, 2011 @ 8:24 am Morning Kalima, hope all is well with you and your brood…the first picture from the “reader pictures-affection” of the grandfather touching his grandchild, such a simple gesture of love made my heart swell. Each one showed the power of love conveyed not with words, but by a touch, simply amazing….thank you so much for posting these. Now on to more serious business, the Trivia Question: A: The Kilt My question for you is, which is also part of the Highland Dress, what is a “Sporran”? Hope your dreams are sweet and that you wake up to a wonderful sunny day tomorrow… 🙂 » Posted By BigDogMom On February 14, 2011 @ 6:38 am Afternoon here in overcast CT, hope all is well with you Kalima as you slumber away… That cake looks absolutely delicious, made a copy, now will spend the afternoon converting it from grams to ounces! Does anyone know if we can buy hemp flour here in the US? I wonder if I can use wheat flour instead… Trivia Q: Kalima, are you having dreams of going to Russia some day? Being on EST and one who goes to bed with the chickens, I seem to miss some good conversations… I’m with Khirad on the Trivia question, I say mirrors were removed from the palaces. Also, on the backstreet consmetic surgeries, disfigurement and deaths are increasing here in the US because of this, saw this story on GMA this morning. There are Internet chat rooms dedicated to this type of proceedures. As someone who has expressed his opinion about our laughable senator online for the last six years, it was a pleasure to be on hand and witness this now irreverent pain in the ass call it quits.” **Edit** CT Rep. Years went by before it became a household name, and well over a decade before it turned into a publishing phenomenon. But Schulz had been busy prior to that syndicate sale. His Peanuts forerunner, Li’l Folks, appeared once a week in the St. Paul Pioneer Press from June 22, 1947, to January 22, 1950. During this same time (May 29, 1948, through July 8, 1950) Schulz sold a total of 17 one-panel cartoons to the Saturday Evening Post.” » Posted By BigDogMom On January 20, 2011 @ 7:11 am Evening Kalima, A.
