Gifford’s rehab and the plight of others without access to her level of care

It’s the “who you know, not what you know” mentality that King Reagan promoted that is still with us today…being able to manipulate yourself into higher and higher positions, more exposure, better deals, more perks for personal gain.

Hi Nora, good to see you here, as silentdances stated, we are becoming a two class society now, the haves and the have-nots, there is no middle class anymore.

We have allowed this to happen to us and until Corporations are taken out of the equation, via campaign finance and we rise up and demand equal care, it’s only going to get worse for us.

50 Ways To Leave Your Blogger

Thanks boomer, how do I do that? Is it in Faq? Do I have to read the directions? Will it be hard to do? Am I whining too much?

😀

Funny how on Face the Nation last month promoting her book she was a die-hard progressive and her blog a place for liberals and progressives came to discuss issues…

Adbusters: “The left built Huffington, and we can tear it down too”

”Socialite Arianna Huffington built a blog-empire on the backs of thousands of citizen journalists,” a post at Adbusters begins. “She exploited our idealism and let us labor under the illusion that the Huffington Post was different, independent and leftist. Now she’s cashed in and three thousand indie bloggers find themselves working for a megacorp.”

“But the Huffington Post is not Arianna’s to sell. It is ours: the lefty writers and readers, environmentalism activists and anti-corporate organizers who flooded the site with 25 million visits a month. So we’re going to take it back.”

“We’ll stop going to her site. And we’ll stop blogging for her too. Then we’ll give birth to an alternative to AOL’s HuffPo by using the #huffpuff hash tag to tell the world about our favorite counter-culture websites and indie blogs.”

“We are the ones who built the Huffington Post. And now we will be the ones who will huff & puff it down,” Adbusters concluded.”

Arianna Huffington, The Huffington Post’s co-founder and editor-in-chief, had been trying to downplay the importance of partisan politics after the announcement.

“We don’t see ourselves as left,” Huffington told Politico. “And I think it’s one area where news consumers are ahead of the media, because they know that continuing to see everything that’s happening as a right-left issue is missing what’s happening, and is also making it much harder for us to be properly informed.”

Is that what that booklet was for?

(Not reading the directions before using a product is one of my husbands pet peeves about me, I think it comes from the days when we all received new computers, (late ’80’s MAC’s) at work with no instructions…we all just kinda winged it and we would not succumb to RTFM)

Actually Abby it is a major tactic that Rove invented, by planting the seed of doubt, via story leaks to the MSM and local papers, that the Dems are not as strong as everyone thought and may not win. It led those who do not have strong convictions to follow the pack, to vote for the supposed winner, because everyone wants to be on the winning side.

The tactic has been updated and enhanced to meet the digital age and financed by the Koch Bros., who pays, via their many pseudo non-profit agencies, the many right wing trolls who serf the various blogs such as AOL and HP to plant that seed of doubt.

Most of these trolls are recruited by the “Young Republicans” from college campuses from all over the US, Andrew Briebart and his partner in crime, the “Pimp” started out like this.

They are not winning because they have better ideas and more people now are more conservative, they are winning because of deception…

I’m baaaccckkk! Client cancelled, had some lunch, perused HP, comment count waaaay down. Checked my comments to see if anyone responded to some older posts and funny thing, someone directed me to the Planet!

Welcome to the Planet PlatoSunTsu…great to see you and others here.

For the past few months most of their articles were fluff, it was like reading an US magazine at the check out counter at the grocery store…somehow the headlines never matched the content.

I think “she” is a “he”, I figured Flossy out when I had decent late night conversation with him close to two years ago, I pointed out to him, in a very nice way, that his statements regarding his own philosophical beliefs were a bit hypocritical and were rife with inconsistancies…he happen to admit it and basically told me this was just a game to him.

Since then I have kept his little secrete, because it would be a waste of my time to out him, knowing that he would vehemently deny it. Now when he sees me on a thread, he posts replies to me with a “smiley face” or a “lol”…I believe he likes that someone knows that he is trying to mess with peoples minds, it makes the game even more interesting to him.

Morning Glenmoredoc1, many here have been saying that the deletions, the heavily moderated threads and influx of trollage was a run up to the sale to AOL…kinda of like fixing your house up before you put it on the market, I tend to agree with them.

AOL is notoriously right slanted in their commentary and news presentation and it attracts a ton of right-wing commentors. I believe that Arianna instructed her writers and editors over the past six months or so to create articles that would incite the progressive/liberal posters to fight amongst themselves and attract RW trolls…and I wouldn’t put it past her that she sent in her own trolls to keep the conversation divisive and controversal. More clicks = more ad dollars/traffic, thus enhancing the final purchase price.

Looks like “LookToTheLeft’s” work, he has his own blog called “Southpawbeagle”, he is well know for that type of post. I believe he was banned, but comes back everyonce and a while with a doosey of post like this.

Welcome JackRusselTerrier…

The one thing that I did like about HuffPo was the comment posting abilities, the ease of use and format, but what I like here is the ability to edit and spellcheck your comment, along with ability to voice ones opinion without the mods or the conversation being manipulated by HP trolls.

If another site can duplicate that type of commenting set-up with great writing like here at the Planet, along with current news/blogs from other progressive/liberal/mainstream sites they would have a winning formula…HP like, but not HP content.

HotChocolate, if you go into ‘edit your reply’ and put a “v” after http the youtube video will come up…

» Posted By BigDogMom On February 8, 2011 @ 3:38 pm

Adlib, I swear those trolls work for HuffPo to direct the conversation and increase the clicks…the more controversy the more clicks.

Cher get better soon, drink plenty of liquids and rest..hubby had it a couple of weeks ago, now a good friend is down with it…take care of yourself, we’ll wait for you to come back.

» Posted By BigDogMom On February 9, 2011 @ 11:44 am

blindhammer, many months ago at HP many of us posters were so tired of the trolls that instead of fighting with them, we would just reply with bits of trivia and factoids to their posts. It was actually refreshing and quite stimulating..it was like playing trivial pursuit on a blog!

Or she was showing us how big Darryl Issa’s thing-a-majig was?

» Posted By BigDogMom On February 9, 2011 @ 7:19 am

Adlib, I’m more than willing to help build the Planet up to be a mainstream “go to” site for progressives. I tell ya, if I had the money I’d finace this baby right now…in the mean time, when I get paid, I’ll send you what I can…

(sorry been a little lax, tax time)

Typing certain words has become an art form over there just to get them through the mods, sometimes I have to stop myself here and remember where I am…at the big people’s table!

» Posted By BigDogMom On February 7, 2011 @ 3:47 pm

Adlib did a great satire on this subject, I think if you go to archives you can find it, if not yell, “ADLIB, HELP!”, that always seems to work…bito and cher are also great when you can’t figure things out… 😕
