Time Out for O/T – Vol. 17

Well, howdy, strangers!

The Blov and I had the toughest week of many years; we decided to buy a NEW house and put our sweet little house up for sale. We’ve lived here sixteen years. My friend and realtor came by, and helped us with staging. So for five days, I packed up FIFTY FIVE boxes – mostly books and files – and moved them to storage. I begged and pleaded with contractors to come yesterday – because I treat all who work at or on my home as family and friends, they all responded. I have been amazed at the love and support from everyone. We are almost through and should have the home up for sale at the mid month. We would have BEEN through, but for much needed and long awaited rain, sweet rain.

So that’s where I’ve been. I still don’t have time to read and catch up, but will try and do this next week.

I did want to share something sweet on this rainy cool Sunday. On Friday, the 10th anniversary of our war IN Afghanistan (not with), I called five of my six kiddos who came for high school exchange and are now back safely here in college. (OK, I just “called” FOR the Pup, since he lives with us). This is what I said more or less to each of them:

I know this is a hard date for us. There have been so many innocent lives lost, so much “cost” to both my country and yours. And that makes me very sad. But selfishly, I have to admit I feel such joy today too in that without that event a decade ago, I might never had had the chance to be your coordinator and to meet you, to have fallen in love with you, and to have you be part of my life. And that, dear ones, is a blessing to me. So while I’m sad, I’m also very, very happy that this event took place.

Within hours, each had called back – from Nebraska, from Missouri, from New Mexico and from here in town. Pretty remarkable conversations. Bito, you would be so proud of “our” Baby Girl. She’s quite the mature young woman now. My hard headed Pashtun “mullah” is a tender hearted excellent student. And my “but…but…” girl, who would argue with a door knob if she thought it could open a door faster and who hates having troops in her country because it just furthers the death and destruction admitted that if one were to be perfectly honest, for every one of the children here, it would have to be a mixed blessing, with both good and bad.

A somber anniversary, much like that of 9/11. Good CAN come from difficulty, and during hard times, it’s helpful to remember that.

Talk to you all later. You guys are so amazing. Keep up the good fight. – AB

Gracias, my knight in bito armour!

Bito, I could not agree more. What a waste of skin.

Everytime I see his ugly sneer on TV, I call the Blov and tell him that the man without a heart (in so many ways) is on the TV.

So if Sue trips him, and I hock a loogie on him, what, pray tell, will your imminence do???? Why don’t you surprise us?

It’s so sad that I just can’t seem to let this one go. Lots of people piss me off; very few of them would I actually like to piss ON.

We are doing fine – busy and just found a new house I really, really want to buy. Took the Pup; his favorite part? He could access his bathroom directly from his bedroom, without having to dress and journey down the hall. Oh the joys of an unaccosted (sp) midnight pee!

Will send you an update soon. Refugee project FINALLY getting some legs, work at public TV too busy, and we are awaiting hordes of company in the next month. Yikes! Ah well. No time to be bored, I guess. xo to you – AB

Sue: OOPS – gave you thumbs down. My bad, and I meant thumbs up. You know it, girl.

If you see him and trip him, I’ll spit on him and then wait for him to apologize to US. It’s nicer than shooting your friend in the frickin’ FACE.

Now what to do about Liz??????? Sigh. I guess it’s time to “bless her heart”.

Thanks, Sue. Now if we can just corner them between TX and CA………….

Whoa-ho! I just got “tempted” to peek-a-boo at PuffHo (all the talk down below) and found an article where Sick Dick Cheney is saying Obama should apologize to the Bush/Cheney admin. Seriously? I didn’t click to read, but I sorta kinda regretted deleting my account. Just felt like saying, “Oh yeah, old man. Well, you can SUCK my apology DRY!”

Sorry – needed to come “home” to vent. Thanks.

Hey guys: I love Chris’ new show!! I now look forward to UP each weekend morning, and we tape it in case we miss it. Full of youth, vitality, meaningful discussion. Chris is the “anti-Scarborough” to the Blov and me – he actually LETS people talk and doesn’t blather on about “when I was elected to Congress in 1994″…..blah blah blech.

I watch Chris Hayes (MSNBC) and Fareed Zakaria (CNN). Even agreeing w/ Khirad (above) about the tendency to mispronounce “Yemen”, I like his approach and his guests MUCH better than Sick Dick Cheney and his evil ugly daughter.

Now we are out to brekkie, but will come home and watch both when we get back. – AB

I think I’ll bring him a coke – all decorated, if you know what I mean…………….

Seriously. If you just LOOK at Virginia (if that’s her name), you can understand WHY he behaved in such an inappropriate manner. Doesn’t excuse it; does explain it.

ooooooh- so diabolical, E-cat!

I have a savings account with them that started in my hometown bank when I was five years old. I keep it for sentimental reasons – the number is special to me. I remember well my dad taking me to open the account.

When BoA called me, I railed against them, everything they stand for, and all their practices. I also told them our balance at a brokerage firm (now getting ready to be moved) and how they’d never see a fuckin’ dime of that money, so help me God.

We have a local bank for our needs now, and one of my board members was the CEO/President until his retirement a few years ago. I love, love, love them – and him. He’s in his 70s, sits next to/across from me at most meetings, and always smiles at me non stop. He praises the work I do. THAT’S a bank worth doing business with. I will NEVER leave them, so help me God. – AB

In the words of Billy Connally, in my fave all time film, “An Everlasting Piece” – “sad, greedy little children”.

NOTE: Be sure to say it in your bestest Scottish brogue to get the full meaning. And frown as you say it. Better yet – watch the movie and watch HIM say it.

And everytime I watch 50 First Dates, I think of John, spewing fish! No offense to the fine aniactor in the movie.

SNAKE FARM – just sounds nasty!

After 9/11, I used to pray that they would capture OBL alive, and bring him to me, where I would handcuff myself to him for – oh, I dunno – maybe the next 10 years? Where I would just sit and smile at him, and talk to him nonstop.

Blov thought that was a non-starter, as it would have been “TOO cruel and unusual – even for the US!”

I had a very, very dear friend beaten to death by her soon to be ex; he used a heavy flashlight to smash in her head. According to blood splatter experts, it took about 15-20 minutes to actually kill her. I wanted to kill HIM with my bare hands, and often fantasized about it, as well as standing before my God, and saying ‘Yessir. I did that. And I’m not sorry for it.’

The SOB is in prison, LWOP. Good enuff for me – at least for now.

Congrats to you BOTH!

» Posted By AlphaBitch On September 21, 2011 @ 7:22 pm

Thanks Sue. I have actually had a very good friend murdered by her soon to be divorced husband on today’s date. I wanted (like Khirad) to kill him with my bare hands, and felt that I could actually do so. But that is a far, far cry from having the state act FOR me. He’s now in prison, life without parole. I’m OK with that.

Steve taught me a lot. He played with some of my music friends, so we talked a lot about this and I even told him that HE was the reason I had a change of heart. I’m lucky I had the chance to do this.

“There’s twenty seven men here
Mostly black and brown and poor
And most of them are guilty
But who are you to say for sure?

So when the preacher comes to get me
And they shave off all my hair
Can you take that long walk with me
Knowing Hell is waiting there?

Could you pull that switch yourself, sir
With a sure and steady hand?
Could you still tell yourself, sir,
That you’re better than I am?”

The genius of Steve Earle. Thanks, Bito.

I think the best and most succinct argument against the death penalty (which I had favored, until this night some years ago) was made by Steve Earle on a stage in Nashville, TN. He said simply:

“You can’t call yourself a Christian and support the death penalty without lying. If you can’t believe in salvation, forgiveness and redemption: what the hell did Jesus die for?”

Felt as if I had been bitch-slapped. Took me six weeks to think about it, but I decided what had struck me so hard was the simple truth. Changed my mind, never looked back.

Steve singing Billy Austin, his anti-death penalty most amazing song. Dedicated to all of you from me tonight.

I can only hope this serves to wake up many of the youth as to what is happening, and we see more and more turn out.

Can they use the bullshit they spew to build the levees????

ARRGGHH!! KT, the most beautiful moment in my life was listening to an a cappella version of this song, sung at dusk, by a group of some 30+ Afghan children, who had just had a fairy-tale type of day where they could play together in safety and without judgment. Still brings tears to my eyes…

How ’bout a preggers woman???

THAT’S why you have friends with talents that complement yours! I have graphic wizards in my pouch. They can put together any type of graphic and make pseudo ads for the competition. The Planet People are the smart arses of wordplay. I’m tellin’ ya – this is an idea that just might have legs!

Shite! from Louisiana. But NORTHERN LA, which is the real whack-a-doodle part IMO.

I’m headed to LA in October – to the Festival Acadiens in Lafayette. All MY friends from LA are Dems; they keep saying the reason LA picks such R-wads is that it’s all about Catholicism and the abortion issue. Some of the finest people I know are Cajuns. Odd – my daddy would let me date anyone – gender, race, religion – none of it would have mattered. But the one date “taboo” in my house was I was never, ever to date a Cajun. Took me years to figure out. NOW I know it’s because the men love to cook, play music and dance. All things I adore. But they tend to have a pretty hard scrabble life, and many drink more than they should. Maybe it was just daddy’s way of looking out for his little girl…..Laissez les bon temps rouler!

ooohhh….we are good…….

Be afwaid, you siwwy Wepublicans! Be vewy, vewy afwaid.

Let’s start the Planet Political Ad Team. Obama wants entrepeneurs. Let’s roll, team!

Wouldn’t it be cool if there WERE a contest, open to the Dems and the winner got a nice fat prize? I really DO think it’s a good idea. Think outside the box….

PATSY! Long time, no chat. Miss you, gal. I’m always on and then off, quicker than a hare.

Do you know what pissants are, Patsy? Here in the great state of Texas we have all sorts of ants – fire ants, carpenter ants, harvester ants, big red ants and pissants (I think they may be called sugar ants in other parts of the country, but we know ’em as “pissants” down here). They don’t do much damage, but they are a pain in the arse.

So consider that your entomological education for the day, dear Patsy! – AB

Unless the family is “bin Laden sized”. Let’s see – 50 children, 4 wives – now that would be around $7,200 (or a little less) per year, or a little over $100/wk/person. And Bito, don’t be cruel! What if all 59 members of his “family” are super sized? $100/wk isn’t much, when it’s McDonalds, Pizza Hut……

Wait! He owns Subways? The guy’s a flippin’ liar now, isn’t he???

What a wad.
