Displaying 1,081 To 1,110 Of 2,240 Comments Morning K! I got to glance at headlines before shoving the Blov out the door. I have the house to myself for the first time in months. I need to get a cuppa in my MB mug, then come read the stories. It’s hard, because none of the news seems good these days. The only “reasonable Republican” (I know, that’s an oxymoron) is out, everyone is fighting everyone else, and there is not a cute kitten/animal video to make me smile. Maybe I’ll pull the covers over my head and grab a nap first. But thanks – as always, always – for finding the time to share the news with us. I like to hear it from you, and Cher and Khirad vs other sources. Have a wonderful day – it’s to be warm here, but cloudy. Yesterday I DID have a wonderful experience: drove a couple of hours to a ranch/wildlife sanctuary, saw sandhill cranes, sang Happy Birthday to my 87 year old incredibly fit and active “illegitimate” mum (she was “adopted” by me after my own passed away) AND her – are you ready for this? – 90 year old boyfriend, who is the rancher, and who drove us around the place and who is sharp as a tack. Other than their love of all things Republican (including RW Limbaugh), they are PERFECT. I was blessed. Now I’ll go dream about that, and come back in a little bit. Just wanted to say hello, and thank you. » Posted By AlphaBitch On January 16, 2012 @ 6:43 am Hi K! Today is my second day back at work – FINALLY! A VACATION! Hoo-rah. At least, I sit on my tush and type. Something I have not been able to do for weeks now. New place painted, contractors hired, flooring and fireplace materials selected. And then that’s it. I crawled on my knees, painting baseboards, until my knees bled. I’m bruised from here to there. But it’s done, and we saved thousands. All the better to spend on fireplace granite and big tvs, I guess. And the Pup. But when I read so much of what is happening around the remainder of the world, I realize how very, very lucky I truly am. One of our neighbors is a 91 year old Navy Seal from WWII (called “Frogmen” back then). He helped invade Okinawa BEFORE the Marines went in. He’s a character, and seems to be very nice. He likes hugs, not handshakes. He also confided about the horrors of war, and how he still deals with the issue of PTSD. He loved the Pup, needless to say. Talk about SHARP! He’s still a business consultant at 91, and travels the world round. Pretty amazing. Most in the townhomes are elderly widows. That’s the secret to feeling young: move into a “nursing home”! At least we will be there to help everyone. They are delighted, and we have a new lease on life. OK, off to work. I have no idea of the first immigrant. I’ll guess Irish just because I’m part Irish (mostly Swiss/German, with a tad English, Irish, French and MEXICAN thrown in). Enjoy your day. I’m jealous and miss snow!! Soon though we can lock and leave and not worry about anything. » Posted By AlphaBitch On January 4, 2012 @ 5:49 am Happy Birthday to a favorite Welshman! Have a great day. Hope you managed to get everything from the store and are ready for the big celebration in the land of the rising sun. Los Angeles? Khirad: Enjoy your mug! What color did YOU get??? » Posted By AlphaBitch On December 28, 2011 @ 6:15 am Drat it! I SO miss that 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st! AND January-November too. During this MOST stressful time of remodeling AND holidays, it brought me such comfort and cheer! The boys are painting “those bits”, but we had a bit of a row because they did not follow El Jefe a la Senora’s orders. (NOTE: Is there a term in either German or Spanish for female leader/general?) (Generalisima???) So I threw a fit and a pout last night and came home and crawled into bed. Much happier this AM Although….my coffee was not served to me today in the MB mug…. Talk to you soon – off to run errands. Yay! » Posted By AlphaBitch On December 27, 2011 @ 7:10 am Hi Dear K! Sorry so long gone; I’ve spent most of my free computer time looking at an Advent calendar……….. sigh. Lovely. Trivia – Gosh, I don’t know. Big Mo’s Tree Lot????? I suck at UK History. Need to read the MB more. Blov got a MB mug – navy blue. Loved it! Friend got the chart of dangerous elephants – putting it on his desk at the college. Ho ho ho. Off for coffee in the almost matching MB mugs. OH! And the Blov asked me to navigate him around the site – where to go, what to check. Silly rabbit. It’s ALL good. Merry Happy to you, dear one. Nice to see Boomer here!! -AB » Posted By AlphaBitch On December 26, 2011 @ 6:28 am We are well in the den these days – thanks for the hugs, I’m sure they were the cure. We leave on Thursday for the small Christmas trip (the Blov’s surprise), and then come back to buy the new place and begin the painting and work. Sigh. No rest for the weary or the wicked, I am afraid. How are you, Miss K? The tribes all cozy? Our “fraidy cat”, Sable, who thinks anyone she has not seen at least a million times MIGHT be a monster, has taken to coming indoors. It’s cold and wet, and the Pup seems less threatening to her. I laugh, because prior to the Pup’s arrival, she and Beto claimed the guest room as THEIR room, and would sleep on the guest bed. They have not been pleased with the Pup asserting his dominion over the room. He went to housesit for two days last week, and both cats reclaimed his room instantly. A “cat vs. “pup”” war to be sure. Stay tuned. Off to the store now – it’s beef stew and cornbread for dinner. YUM. » Posted By AlphaBitch On December 11, 2011 @ 7:00 am Damn straight, ma’am. And Texas ounces are bigger, as we all know….. » Posted By AlphaBitch On December 10, 2011 @ 11:27 am 1,329. That’s for smooth. And it does NOT include shells. (I believe in going long and that everything is bigger in Texas) » Posted By AlphaBitch On December 10, 2011 @ 11:03 am Kalima: I am so sorry for YOU. Please don’t worry about us; we are a resolute bunch. But I’m sure I speak for everyone here (and Em was the first) to say that we love you, and send you our condolences and lots of hugs. Take care, my dear sweet friend. Check back with us when you can. – AB » Posted By AlphaBitch On December 5, 2011 @ 5:53 am Oh yeah, oh yeah, I won, uh huh, I won the quiz today!!! Channeling Cain is how I won. What does it say about me that the quiz I finally win has to do with Hades and Herman? I came darn close to Khirad’s quiz on the Qur’an as well. Mistress of the Dark Arts, am I??? At least, I would be according to Tony Perkins (wonder why he was named after the gay actor in Psycho?????) Yes, please, I’d like a Mimikaki. You can wait until I mail you YOUR package. I think it was the Blov’s PPT on Palestine, which you will enjoy. Got to run. Last day of work, then house cleaning and cooking. Need your prayers and blessings for our big attempt today -I’ll send an email explaining. -AB » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 23, 2011 @ 5:41 am No time to read today (unfortunately) – but I second dear Kes: what WAS that thingy ma bob????? Also, to respond to the trivia question: I’m going w/ Herman Cain’s favorite number: 9. Triple kes. Later. » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 22, 2011 @ 10:32 am K: That’s 3 cheers, 2 years – and ONE truly remarkable soul. Thank you a brazillion times. You are quite a “shero” to me, lady, for always finding the time to take care of your Planet and your friends! With love and admiration, AB PS Nice sparkles, AdLib! » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 20, 2011 @ 4:09 pm Ha Ha, Kes! I always thought the Bob in the Enzyte commercials was a ready to be made SNL skit. “There’s something different about Bob…” and then you see his big (er, I mean bigGER woody) » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 26, 2011 @ 4:24 pm Tortious interference, anyone? » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 26, 2011 @ 4:23 pm KQ: Maybe I still will. Let’s do a “you call yourself a patriot, I call you a traitor” meme. the Blov stands corrected. And I stand with the onset of a bad-ass cold coming on….. No mercy for the mouthy, it seems. » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 26, 2011 @ 1:36 pm I’ve got a suspicious nature by heart. I often mused how easy it would be/would have been to pick up the phone, if you were – oh, I dunno – Karl Rove/ Andrew Breitbart/David Koch, and just tapped into a few of your pals at some of the larger companies, and said “You know the easiest and most sure way of getting rid of that Socialist in the WH is just to sit back, wait and hire no one so the economy can tank. THEN watch how fast he’ll be packing his bags.” Blov thinks that would never happen. I think he is naive. Thanks for finding this, KQ. It confirms my suspicions and makes me seem less paranoid and more prescient. » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 26, 2011 @ 7:26 am Anyone doing a small business Saturday? I’m planning on doing one at a local gallery for THE BEST art school in the world (maybe on the Planet). Most of their items are pricey, but there’s a few affordables. Jewelry, tree ornaments, pewter works, fabric arts, handmade books, paintings, glass – you name it, it’s there. And NONE ARE MADE IN CHINA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 25, 2011 @ 4:12 pm Hey Kes – Tro-lo-lo to you, too! » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 25, 2011 @ 4:09 pm Was she also a Wal-Martian??? » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 25, 2011 @ 1:58 pm I’ll make you a new batch. With apples, sausage and pecans? » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 24, 2011 @ 7:35 pm Or come without socks. I’ll share some tootsy warmers wit ya! » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 24, 2011 @ 7:28 pm Good golly, Miss Molly! “Store”. Now if that isn’t an obvious enough category…. well, except for a Texas gal with a governor like Perry… » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 24, 2011 @ 7:21 pm Whew! I looked at FAQ, went to help, and then dashed to the place where I always find what I need. Check your mail, dear one! » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 24, 2011 @ 7:20 pm Not to mention it helps Boehner maintain his “orangina” effects when he runs short of Tang…. » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 24, 2011 @ 7:12 pm HEY! Where did our store to buy swag go????? I need badly to order two of the Charts of FUN-da!-mental Elephants. can’t remember what it was called – but you know what I mean. Hurry – need for presents. Also need a MB mug for someone….. » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 24, 2011 @ 7:10 pm No, but I think he needs some fresh ones. » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 23, 2011 @ 11:11 am AdLib: I am a devotee of VF, as you well know. I think we should do a monthly review of ONE article by them each month; I can’t imagine what I would do for REAL articles in print if it ever went belly up. Subscriptions are but $15/year. I skip all the fluff (OK, well SOMETIMES I skip the fluff) but chew down on the meaty articles, like the one about Greece, or Whoreyanna, or how Ohio was stolen in 2004 (by Christopher Hitchens, who actually voted FOR Bush). Not that everyone here doesn’t ALREADY have a full plate. Just sayin’. Glad to see you quoting from the “Holy Magazine”. – AB PS Read it? I HAVE it! » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 23, 2011 @ 6:49 am KQ: Even without live blogging (I admit, I tuned in because I was hoping for some live commentary and fun), i am enjoying your comments. Carry on, my good man! » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 22, 2011 @ 5:46 pm Funk: Once every two decades. Sounds just about perfect! Happy T-day to you, too. » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 22, 2011 @ 3:06 pm Bito – HI-larious! thanks for sharing, and bless its heart. » Posted By AlphaBitch On November 20, 2011 @ 3:56 pmComments Posted By AlphaBitch
