I totally agree on everything with you, Kalima.

And Gaza is one fourth the size of San Antonio. Our population is 1.35 million, Gaza’s 1.65. So one quarter of the area, and about 300,000 more people. It’s a shame.

I totally agree – I’m tired of MY tax dollars going to support Israel, and then people like Adelsohn trying to buy our politicians so they can do the will of Nuttyahoo. It’s enough to make me want to move to – oh, I don’t know – Canada or Scotland……

Terribly rushed, but here’s a trivia quiz about Gaza: How large an area do you think Gaza comprises? Compare it to some geography in the U.S. The answer will blow you away. Bonus: compare population to some area of the U.S.

I know tons about Palestine/Israel. I’m a pro-Palestinian advocate. I believe in Israel’s right to exist, but not at the cost to other human beings it has exacted. Shame on the Zionists.

So sorry to hear about Heidi. I know how much you can learn to truly love a car. My first truck -a black Datsun (pre-Nissan) DIESEL (God, they stunk back them and rattled like marbles) took me back and forth from Seattle to San Antonio time after time after time. Many solo journeys, driving across MT at 3AM, turning off the motor and watching a porcupine amble slowly across the road with no other traffic. His name was Billy Bob. He was from Texas, of course. I slept in him when I was at a music festival in CA and bears were invading tents. Sigh. When we decided to “upgrade” (to Honky, the white F-150), my husband sold him to a dealer who was taking him to Mexico. A reverse immigration of sorts. I have never forgiven the Blov for that one.

So I’m sorry. Truly.

GACK! I missed by not including Canada (not that I’d know that answer anyways). Do I get points, or perhaps a sparkly from the tiara that Kes owns, for getting the U.S. counterpoint right? Maybe I was just channeling a la Dittleman the question for today being U.S. based.

I’ve driven I-90 which is eternal. I’ve also driven I-10 both ways, and it only seems eternal when you are in Texas. I guess one of these, likely I-10 because of that Texas factor, but not discounting the twisty turnies over the mountains on I-90.

Funk? Care to weigh in?

I agree- Olympic Cat-napping Competition! I will challenge you for the gold. Went to walk today, and honestly felt as if I had walked into a steam room. Yikes. Off to work – and working full days for now as we are very busy. Many assaults on public broadcasting. For what? It costs – literally – $1 per person per YEAR to keep NPR and PBS funded. Low hanging fruit for small minded idiots.

I had a friend who once wrote a song about gun violence called “Whenever Kindness Fails”. The lyrics went something like “So I shot ’em down, one by one, and I left ’em on the rails. I use my gun whenever kindness fails.”

That line has been haunting me during the Aurora tragedy. You did a great job defining success vs. failure there, missy. Even if you didn’t know Barrow from Dillinger and/or Capone, you should get points from defining true success.

Morning, Kalima. I had time to skim the headlines, then read the story on the Afghan “honor” killing. So stupid, but then he’s from Helmand, and likely a Pashtun with that Pashtun-wali code of stupidity.

Oh, I’m glad you don’t eat octopus! Here it is “pulpo” (spanish word), and I once almost ate it. This after having fallen in love with a young octopus named “Doris” that was in a marine science lab, and who had fallen in love with one of the male biologists! She would honestly blush when he came to see her, or walked by. At that point, I could see what truly wonderful and wonderous creatures they were, and swore never to eat one. (Funny, but knowing a cute little pig once didn’t make me not eat bacon…..)

Tweedledumb and Tweedledumber – hard to tell which is which!

Going to think about the rivers. I knew yesterday’s quiz, just didn’t get a chance to post it!! Darn it.

A consensus of the Bitch, Blov and LavGirl (my friend from Austink) says: Apostrophe. Blov says the DSS were written in Coptic and they used no punctuation. But I like the way “apostrophe” sounds and is spelled, so I convinced them to vote with me.

I think they are voting just to shut me up….

Kalima, you made me weep. What you have said is truth itself. Yes, only we know what the puzzle means. And those missing pieces – however difficult they may make it for us – cannot keep us from seeing the “big picture” if we just keep working (maybe a little harder) at it.

My “big picture” today was a photo (OK, two) of my beautiful girl in Damascus, showing off her engagement ring!!!!!! Fifteen more days until she is HERE; fewer still until she is on a plane, en route. I hold my breath, and say a silent prayer each minute.

Getting ready for long trip (fun trip) to Lewdisiana. Maybe I’ll put on some leopard print spandex and stop by to say “hey there” to Mr. Vitter.

Karzai’s orientation came from a secret but VERY reputable source. I agree about aid – screw ’em. Until the day comes they hit the streets shouting “Death to the Taliban!”, I’d rather keep the money AND the soldiers, thankyouverymuch.

Kalima: Our Baby Girl is working hard on a project to bring over handcrafted goods from AFG widows to sell, and then (relying on her family and trusted student cohorts) get the money raised back to the women. She is SO strong – an arm “like an ant”. I’ll let you know how it goes. So some good in the otherwise crappy world of life under the Taliban. Hamid Karzai is not only a crook, but maybe mentally ill or drug psychotic. In addition, there is some speculation that he is gay (not that there is anything wrong with that – at least in MY world – but imagine how twisted he must be if that is true in HIS world). He is definitely misogynistic, regardless of his own orientation. May he be reincarnated as an Afghan woman. That would be real karma!

Good morning, K! Glad to see the MB is where it should be. Again, in a rush, but skimmed headlines. I snuck back on at work yesterday to read the items I gravitated towards – ah, such a guilty pleasure! Hey! It was my “eat at the desk” lunch half hour!

Today I think I will read about Syria. I have 20 more days of anxiety before my dear one arrives. Richard Engle did a great piece on Rachel last night that paints a very different picture than the news. I trust him more.

Sigh. the genius of Floridian politicians. What more to say?

GOOD morning, Kalima! Welcome “home”. You’ve been missed. Only glanced at headlines – work day, you know – will get back later. As to the Taliban shooting the adulteress: Alpha Pup told me last night that two men were also executed, but no news of that here. One was even a Taliban commander. Executed for adultery. Now that’s progress??? Sigh.

Israeli settlements “jeopardising” Palestinian prosperity? Ask me to upload a photo the Blov took of Hebron, and then let’s talk about it! Better yet, let’s get him to do so and then he can answer questions.
