You and me both, brutha!

Great selection Felonious! From Pulse?

» Posted By AdLib On October 30, 2009 @ 11:14 pm

Thanks for that Nicole! The lyrics fit trolls, Republicans and the self-righteous like a tailored suit!

» Posted By AdLib On October 30, 2009 @ 4:26 pm

KQ, as far as I know, you can post any embedded video in a comment at The Planet from any source. I just have the shortcut feature for YouTube though.

This one is dedicated to all the little trollies at HuffPo:

» Posted By AdLib On October 30, 2009 @ 4:08 pm

My expectations for our first HuffNo Friday are modest but it is interesting that it’s not as busy over there today.

» Posted By AdLib On October 30, 2009 @ 4:01 pm

Not sure what it is,, could be an add-on, will take a bit of trial and error. Just tried a new solution, we’ll see of it solves the problem.

Fingers crossed!

nicole473, sorry, a bit of a quirk in the software, it’s up now!

Please let me know if a comment doesn’t post immediately, working to fix this ASAP!

Hey KQ! Great post and tunes and thanks for kicking off HuffNo Friday!

Here’s my animated comedy short about HuffPo I made a while back but for those who haven’t seen it yet, hope you enjoy it!

Fight the intrusion of quackery and religious woo in health care reform

As Will Rogers said, “I belong to no organized party. I am a Democrat.”

Generally there can be two or three threads people post on actively but like at most blogs, the most recent threads are usually where you’ll find people.

I usually check out the Recent Comments section and click on a comment to see where people are posting or look at the number of comments on the threads on the Home Page.

What’s cool is that people are looking at this site a little differently, like the different threads are just different conversations at the same party and you can float from one to the other as you like.

And same here, so happy to have so many cool people discussing all kinds of things freely and without troll interruptions.

» Posted By AdLib On October 30, 2009 @ 4:25 pm

Cool, sounds like my kind of blog, I definitely want to to check it out.

It is kind of sad that we have these anchors on progress with as much influence as they have in this country.

And Americans feel superior to other nations. The only civilized nation without national health care and whose previous president declared God chose him to be president.

Part of this country is as backwards as Afghanistan.

Again, welcome to The Planet!

Really appreciate your bringing this up. It’s been flying beneath the radar, I didn’t know what they were up to but my Spidey sense told me they would be up to something sneaky on the bill.

My remaining questions on injecting religion into the health care bill are:

1. Will being possessed by demons be considered a pre-existing condition? Are exorcisms covered?

2. Am I covered if bitten by a snake I’m handling in church?

3. If I have a laying on of hands, could a happy ending be considered part of the therapy?

My Dog, Huff is like a morgue

HITO, welcome! Glad you made it! I did email you with a new password but I’m afraid some browsers,IPs or spamware block our emails sometimes. You may find the emails in one of those places as spam.

In any case. Happy to see you here!

First, a warm welcome to the site, AlphaBitch, love your handle and no worries, you’re among clever adults here who value free expression and have a sense of humor.

Really appreciate your insight on Afghanistan. I was listening to an NPR interview yesterday with Matthew Hoh (who resigned as a Diplomat) and he was saying many of the same things.

Mainly that we are not wanted there as occupiers, we have no actual “goal”, our killing of innocent people only pushes people away from us and towards the Taliban, Al Qaeda is very unlikely to have a physical area to gather at even if the Taliban take over because they have evolved into being a virtual movement around the world via the internet and already have many havens including Pakistan.

As he said, we’re pouring billions we don’t have into a war that there is no way to win because winning would mean occupying Afghanistan forever.

We need to get out, focus on Al Qaeda like a laser throughout the world, not just in Afghanistan where they are scarce.

Again, welcome to The Planet!

As K7 says, not only can you post articles, we’re looking forward to them.

A quick shortcut to composing articles is located on the right at the top of the first column. You’ll see, “Click Here To Write A Post”, click it and get crackin’!

I agreed with nearly all of your points but you did blow your stack when BSM just asked what your solution was.

Let’s put that behind us, it was late and all, and continue the discussion about Afghanistan though.

» Posted By AdLib On October 30, 2009 @ 8:59 am

I don’t wish to prolong or exacerbate a situation that was born on that lovely and peace-inducing site, HuffPo. I hope that all members here will always help to diffuse any disagreements that occur between our fellow members here.

The Planet is a place, unlike HuffPo, where all members must show a modicum of respect to each other. If there are disagreements, they need to be discussed respectfully.

What is important for all to know here is that there is an annoying glitch in the software that has emerged recently, that occasionally sends posts and comments into moderation for no apparent reason. I am working to fix that but it happened at a very lousy time and was understandably misinterpreted (I would have thought the same as BSM).

So everyone understands, no one else has the ability to moderate or delete posts or comments except me and I never have since the inception of this site nor will I unless the Terms of Use are violated…and that primarily means personal attacks or trolldom.

Many of us have spent a long time in the hostile atmosphere of HuffPo, it’s most healthy and constructive to leave that behind us and show each other and the folks around the internet how HuffPo is wrong and we can indeed freely express ourselves, interact and even disagree with respect and dignity.

Thanks!

» Posted By AdLib On October 30, 2009 @ 8:53 am

Totally understand your feelings but it is a misunderstanding which I can’t blame you for having.

There is a glitch in the WordPress software that rarely and randomly holds a comment or post, I am consulting with the WordPress guys to fix it.

When I woke up this morning, I found two comments of yours “gremlinized”, including this one and as you can see, they’re both up now.

Of all times for that to happen, this was pretty lousy timing.

To be clear, only I have the ability to moderate or delete posts or comments and I guarantee you and all other members that no comments or posts will ever be held or deleted for personal reasons, only in accordance with the terms of use which pretty much only apply to personal attacks and trolldom.

Your assumption was totally justified, I would have responded the same way, I’m sorry it happened and hope that if it happens again to any member, they understand that it’s unintentional and temporary.

» Posted By AdLib On October 30, 2009 @ 8:16 am

That sounds totally worthwhile. It’s what intelligent, self respecting people do, they make a statement and respond to a wrong.

The other type of people just lie back and think of England or attend teabagging parties oblivious to the double meaning.

HUFFPOST LAME CHANGES: VOTE!

Well said and the sentiment is very appreciated!

It is a bit disorienting coming here from HuffPo, there’s a whole secondary thought process of having to comb through your thoughts not to trip the censors that’s suddenly removed.

As for the trolls who whine, “echo chanmber”, the guys who call themselves “dittoheads” call others an echo chamber.

Excellent, take your time to express yourself just as you want, we’ll be looking forward to it whenever you post.
And the fact is, this site is open to all people with all views. Anyone whining about echo chambers is still welcome to come here and discuss and debate any POV but if they’ve come to insult, they’ll be gone quick.

» Posted By AdLib On October 30, 2009 @ 11:11 am

That’s no “joke”, I’ve seen material lifted from HuffPo then appearing on Maher and The Daily Show.

Yes, sometimes great minds think alike but if you’re a writer on one of these shows and instead of having to think, you can just browse a blog and get all the jokes you need, some lazy writers would be more than happy to steal material that way.

» Posted By AdLib On October 30, 2009 @ 11:04 am

Hey jillsond! Great to see you! Glad you didn’t stand on ceremony, no invite required or necessary to join here! This is a wide open site for everyone to join.

There is a little learning curve to coming here after HuffPo but check out the FAQ and it should get you up to speed quickly.

Once again, a big fat welcome to The Planet!

» Posted By AdLib On October 30, 2009 @ 10:10 am

Actually, it makes perfect sense.

If you’ve seen that conflict boosts your traffic and the amount of time people stay on your site…which translates into more money…you make sure that continues.

It’s all about business at HuffPo now, not politics.

» Posted By AdLib On October 30, 2009 @ 12:29 am

I sure would lean in that direction, sure seems more like a plant than genuine.

And why do they ban progrssive members who confront her on her lies and BS instead of her?

Either way, they’re in league with her.

» Posted By AdLib On October 30, 2009 @ 12:09 am

As I said below, she’s either a plant or a boon in their eyes, they have and will take out people who come at her strongly.

» Posted By AdLib On October 29, 2009 @ 11:07 pm

There are times that I think certain members are employed by Huff to be there and other times I think Huff just enjoys that they’re there and protects them.

AC is one of those. Either way, HuffPo likes and protects her against any and all.

What a fucked up game. I just can’t be bothered to play it anymore.

BTW, can anyone get in touch with AtomicSplash to let him know about this site. Would be great to have him here.
