I hope I don’t make this more confusing than it should be. All posts here are assigned categories by Authors when they create the post. The list of categories is at the bottom of the header (Arts & Entertainment, News & Politics, Speakers Corner, etc). The site is set up so that links and excerpts from posts appear on the front page from every category except Speakers Corner. Speakers Corner is a category for posts that are not about issues, members can write any post they want under that category but they won’t automatically appear on the front page. In the case of Morning Blog, we are taking it out of Speakers Corner in the early morning to put it on the front page so it’s easy for people to find, then return it to Speakers Corner during the day, when issue related posts take the spotlight. To find Morning Blog when it’s not on the front page, click on the Speakers Corner category link above and you’ll find it and all other posts from members that aren’t about issues. Army officials had said they would prohibit coverage of Palin’s on-post event, saying it would turn into political grandstanding against President Barack Obama. The Associated Press and The Fayetteville Observer objected and the military changed its position slightly on Thursday night. It will grant a pool of reporters restricted access to Monday’s appearance. Fort Bragg spokesman Col. Billy Buckner said members of the media will not be allowed to interview the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee and will be barred from talking to her supporters on post. Buckner said the setup will allow reporters their right to access while preventing the event from turning political. So, they are preventing their hosting of a potential GOP Presidential candidate who has called Obama someone who “pals around with terrorists”, “a socialist”, wanting to kill your Granny, etc. from turning political? What a fucking farce! You get what you pay for, if you pay $500 a year less in premiums with a private plan but your deductible is $1,500 higher, what are you really saving? In essence, private insurers can offer virtually useless plans for less than a Public Option with solid benefits and reasonable deductibles. While most Americans would be able to observe the new experiment with government coverage, few would actually participate. To make images smaller right after they’ve uploaded, there are three “Size” selections, “thumbnail”, “Medium” “Large” and “Full Size”. Please select “Medium”, that will usually be the best size though you can always change it. To make images smaller after you’ve inserted them into your post, go into your Dashboard and click on “Edit” under “Posts”, select your article, click on the image and two small icons will appear on it. Click the first icon that looks like a picture of a mountain and a window will open that allows you to scale the picture bigger or smaller by percentage. It is natural for people in any gathering to gravitate more to some than others but the affirmative does not mean the reverse is also true. Simply because two or more people are close, it doesn’t mean they are exclusive of others. That is the difference between HuffPo and here, there I’ve witnessed “group think” and cliques of members who are clearly exclusive, treating those that are not part of their “clique” with prejudice, ridicule, disdain or just ignoring them. I can say with confidence that such behavior is clearly not the case here. Everyone who comes here from HuffPo comes with the experience of that site, positive and negative. The friendliness you see there that goes along with exclusive cliques may resemble the friendliness you see here that has no connection to cliques. I think if you consider how you’ve been welcomed and appreciated here by all members, shunned by none, you’d recognize that the positive relationships members have here with others is unrelated to the “clique” mentality you’ve grown accustomed to at HuffPo. » Posted By AdLib On December 10, 2009 @ 7:36 am javaz, I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope you try to put aside the guilt that naturally comes in this kind of situation. Families are so complicated. When people fall apart in families, there rarely is any justifiable finger to point, there are the ones who push away and the ones who let go. Neither one can stop the other from doing as they feel they should or must so there shouldn’t be guilt. It is natural, just as other kinds of “marriages” don’t work out as people grow older. It is unfortunate but for some people, it is too painful to continue relationships with some family members, it can be too toxic to them. Sometimes, even once someone has passed away and there is regret, it may have been for the best that the potential for severe emotional conflict was not endured for a lifetime. Sometimes, distance is necessary to avoid pain…or hurting someone you don’t want to hurt.
