Displaying 18,361 To 18,390 Of 19,504 Comments The evil distraction of Cap And Trade Thanks for this link FrankenPC! I agree with KQ’s point and that a direct carbon tax is the way to go. As you and the video point out cap and trade is too easily manipulated to be consistently effective. Since it is indeed reliant upon regulation and depending on the country and what party is in power, that can vary greatly. Imagine if a Republican became president with Cap and Trade already in place, he could put coal industry cronies in as regulators and the whole concept…goes up in smoke. » Posted By AdLib On December 6, 2009 @ 9:27 pm Perpetuum Jazzile – Accapella Choir – Ljubljana Slovenia escrib, just to let you and everyone else know, we got about a 50-50 response to continuing sending email notifications to Authors when people comment on an their posts, so I’m going to halt it for the time being and see if I can work it out as an on-demand thing. » Posted By AdLib On December 6, 2009 @ 6:00 pm A happy turn of events for this greyhound escribacat, wonderful article and congrats on posting our 300th article! I fixed it for you, you almost had it! When you upload a photo, you need to click the “show” in the bottom right hand corner to see all the info on the image. Then scroll down and on the left side you will see “Link URL”. To the right of it should be a URL similar to this: “https://planetpov.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/9-20-07dogs-w.jpg” If the box is empty, click the button “File URL” and it will appear. Be sure to copy the full URL, paste it in the “Value” box under “Add Custom Field”, select “Preview” in the pulldown box under “Name”, click on “Add Custom Field” and you’re done adding your preview image. I do wish they made it a bit less complicated. » Posted By AdLib On December 6, 2009 @ 1:23 pm Moongal6, welcome to The Planet!!! » Posted By AdLib On December 5, 2009 @ 11:55 pm Extra! Extra! Read All About It! I’d be prepared for the worst…which is what he is as far as Dem Senators go. » Posted By AdLib On December 7, 2009 @ 1:24 pm Absolutely cool to ask this here. And BTW, no worries about posting C&Ps, it’s not breaking the rules, it’s just our preference and theme that the front page is primarily for presenting your and other members’ perspectives on the world. Folks can go to many places on the web for the same C&P news articles but when they come to The Planet, we want to present unique perspectives on that news and more. As for images, here are a few helpful pointers: 1. Before you click on the “Insert Into Post” button in the window for a graphic, there are three sizing choices for the image, try to choose the middle one for a moderately sized image. Also, you can always re-size an image by going back into Edit Post, click on the image then on the icon that pops up on the image. 2. The red x is an issue may be with your computer not being able to view the image for some reason, it has happened with another user. In that case, the image did show up properly on the site anyway. 3. For Preview image, you need to upload the image to our site and use the “URL Link” in the “Value” box (URL Link is in the image’s info window that is visible after uploading and clicking “Show”). The URL Link looks like this, always having “planetpov.com” in it: “https://planetpov.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/image12_06_09.jpg”. BTW, Preview does not work with URLs for other sites. Hope this is helpful but please feel free to contact me you run into any more issues. » Posted By AdLib On December 6, 2009 @ 10:10 pm Er…I just decided to change it to each week to that week’s winning Super Lotto numbers. Hope you don’t mind. » Posted By AdLib On December 5, 2009 @ 4:00 pm I’ve taken to steel toed Bother Boots. Why waste the effort with two kicks when one kick can get the job done? » Posted By AdLib On December 5, 2009 @ 3:59 pm He has really gone downhill. » Posted By AdLib On December 5, 2009 @ 3:45 pm It just happens every once in a while to all computers, your Mac still loves you. » Posted By AdLib On December 5, 2009 @ 3:44 pm Heh! I’ll leave HuffPo to take care of the oozing, they’re experts in ooze. » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 10:21 pm Thank you BDM for helping make it such a success! And we’ve renamed it now from Planet Chat to Vox Populi. Just to sound like elitists. Have to run now to eat my arugula salad and put Grey Poupon on my broiled steak tartare (hamburger). » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 10:14 pm Props to KQuark for the cool image for this article!!! » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 9:29 pm Oh!!! Gotcha now! » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 9:28 pm I think it’s all just MSM hysteria to alk about Beck as being a legit choice as a running mate for Palin. I mean, can you imagine everything that could be dug up on him about his past?! That alone would be worth having this media fantasy come true. » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 9:26 pm I used to use “geek” as an insult of choice back in high school…for all of these reasons it does seem to fit Beck like a geeky glove. » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 9:24 pm Night nellie! You were part of the reason for its success! Sleep well! » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 9:23 pm Beck is making too much money as a goofball, he may have aspirations but aside from running in a heavy Republican state, which have loonies as elected officials anyway, he has no options. He’s like Arianna, just trying to amass power and wealth so they can be more “important” and bigger celebrities. He is not some Machiavellian genius, he’s a panderer to the lowest common denominator carnival performer. » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 9:13 pm I don’t think that will help, it does sound like your Mac needs a reboot. » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 9:09 pm Heh! Poor Mo missed it again! Would have enjoyed for him to have jumped in on Afghanistan. Night kesmarn, glad you got to join us! » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 9:08 pm When I looked it up in Merriam Webster during the chat, it said “Elitist” was created in 1947 and the original definition appears to be intended as derogatory. » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 9:07 pm Agreed, that was very interesting, and I say that as an elite elitist. As a word maven, I would point out that there is a difference between “elitists” and “elite”. “Elitists” was created and has been maintained as a negative reference whereas “Elite” was not and is used often as complimentary of something. » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 9:04 pm You can go back there right now to read it, I will archive them too so each week’s conversation will always be available for review. » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 9:01 pm My pleasure! Though I’m not the only one here coming up with new features. KQ, Kalima, Nellie and K7 have all come up with great new features too. That’s part of what we’re trying to do here, keep innovating and developing a site that is the most fun and satisfying. We really want and listen to the input of our members…because that’s who this site is all about! Cheers! » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 9:00 pm Did you try again, right now, to check? I have a feeling your Mac probably needed a reboot since you’ve used it on previous weeks and nothing has changed on this end. » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 8:58 pm nellie, you are the best! Thanks so much for the very kind words! » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 8:56 pm Heh! Does get the adrenalin going! » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 8:56 pm It does sound like a local problem, meaning your Mac. If that was to happen again and clearing your cache didn’t work, I’d suggest rebooting your Mac. » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 8:55 pm You have to write, read and think a bit faster but you and everyone else were great. You can tell, I’m very pleased with how well it went! » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 8:50 pm Can you try going back there now to enter a comment and press the Return key to see if it works? » Posted By AdLib On December 4, 2009 @ 8:49 pmComments Posted By AdLib
