Time Out for O/T – Vol. 15

La parole est à vous mes dame 🙂

» Posted By ADONAI On March 24, 2011 @ 12:49 pm

Friends! Why must we fight? We all worship the same GOD here. Reason.

Let us not turn away from it, even in the face of perceived slights.

Do you not value the opinion of others as much as your own? Why then must we cast stones?

Ketchup or Catsup?

» Posted By ADONAI On March 23, 2011 @ 10:31 pm

Nope 🙁

» Posted By ADONAI On March 23, 2011 @ 10:27 pm

*sigh* Still Applebees. I’m a creature of habit.

» Posted By ADONAI On March 23, 2011 @ 5:07 pm

HA!

I’m the same way when I see my food coming. I get super excited and I try to lick the waitress(I do not recommend it)

Then I ponder what life is all about for several minutes before I begin eating.

2ccp, very true my friend. Very sad and very true.

» Posted By ADONAI On March 23, 2011 @ 3:15 pm

Well that’s some bullshit. Nothing can excuse delaying justice.

» Posted By ADONAI On March 23, 2011 @ 3:06 pm

So the appeals process isn’t over? That’s good to hear.

» Posted By ADONAI On March 23, 2011 @ 2:53 pm

2ccp, I hate to say it because it sounds so callous but I kinda expected this too. Outwardly I was full of confidence that this would go the other way and we would finally have some semblance of equal rights for all of our citizens. But inside I just couldn’t shake the feeling that this was inevitable.

It’s frustrating. Frustrating beyond belief. How is this not common sense? Despite whatever differences you may have, where does it say that it is cool to deny American citizens equal rights FOR ANY REASON!? And any argument involving religion and churches is irrelevant because we don’t elevate any faith above another or the rule of law.

I guess I understand why this is business as usual for you but I can’t even begin to understand how you feel. To be denied something so many other people take for granted simply because someone you’ll never meet decided they didn’t like you. It’s preposterous!

People get mad when I say someone is a second class citizen. i;m not being mean or degrading, just stating simple fact. A shameful fact that should be addressed. If you aren’t allowed the same rights as every other citizen, you are a second class citizen. Like black people were. Like women were(and in some cases still are). The Irish. Mexican Americans. Native Americans. We’re running out of people to hate.

Having Breitbart there drives traffic and brings them clicks. It will be tough convincing them to move him. It’s AOL calling the shots now I believe. They don’t know what “journalistic integrity” means.

Well, I gotta get to bed. AdLib, fox, truth, chase. I enjoyed the debate. I hope I didn’t come off as too combative. I tend to do that. I respect your views, I just disagree with them.

Goodnight all!

**EDIT**

And if there are unanswered questions I’d be happy to pick this back up again in the future.

» Posted By ADONAI On March 22, 2011 @ 11:35 pm

AdLib, voting in assholes to run our government has real world consequences.

Consequences that far outweigh my non-participation.

» Posted By ADONAI On March 22, 2011 @ 11:33 pm

truth, my solution is not to vote for either of them and further validate their bullshit.

» Posted By ADONAI On March 22, 2011 @ 11:32 pm

The McCain/Palin Presidency: More war, more drilling, more tax cuts for the wealthy, less transparency.

Obama/Biden Presidency: More war, more drilling, more tax cuts for the wealthy, less transparency

I do take responsibility. I try hard to make a difference. The thing I don’t get is people who elect these politicians and then turn around and blame them for all their problems. The first problem is the people who voted for them.

» Posted By ADONAI On March 22, 2011 @ 11:31 pm

AdLib, I wasn’t referring to you but to political Parties who seek my vote.

Again, I don’t fear the Republicans. The country has survived much worse than them.

So, no, I guess it isn’t “worth it”. Not to buy into the endless struggle between two sides who are both wrong.

» Posted By ADONAI On March 22, 2011 @ 11:11 pm

yeah, can you imagine if the Republicans had won the last Presidential election? More wars in the Middle East, lower taxes on corporations, higher taxes on the poor, more drilling, ….

It’s not ideological purity. It’s staying above the fray. But see that’s my point. it’s not that I don’t vote that bothers people, it’s just that I don’t vote for a certain side. If I voted Republican, one side would still be just as angry.

So when one side loses I’m a convenient target for “not supporting the cause”. A cause I never took up to begin with. In a country that gives me that right.

Is it weird that I see my vote as something more than a poorly conceived offensive in a futile war of attrition between two Parties with similar methods?

» Posted By ADONAI On March 22, 2011 @ 11:08 pm

AdLib, But what if all those people who hadn’t voted

Voted for Bush? Would it still be a bad thing?

I can’t see the logic in throwing it on non voters because that assumes they would have voted that person’s way.

Maybe people should offer us something better than guilt. ‘Cause I don’t feel any.

» Posted By ADONAI On March 22, 2011 @ 10:35 pm

chase, I value the vote. I guess I am angry at the process and who we vote for.

I have no one to vote for. And I don’t share the Democrat’s or Republican’s cause. I feel like I’m just voting purely to satisfy other people and that’s not a very good reason to vote.

» Posted By ADONAI On March 22, 2011 @ 9:48 pm

chase, I guess. I will strongly consider voting for Obama the next time around and maybe convincing a few people to do like wise.

But no promises! 🙂

» Posted By ADONAI On March 22, 2011 @ 9:17 pm

fox, It’s like I’m being made to feel bad for not willingly contributing to a corrupt system.

What if one day everyone just decided not to vote? What a glorious day that would be!

» Posted By ADONAI On March 22, 2011 @ 9:14 pm

Believe me, I got a “talking to”.

Apparently I should still vote even if it’s meaningless and will never benefit me or anyone I know in any way.

And “pick yer switch” still sends a chill down my spine

» Posted By ADONAI On March 22, 2011 @ 9:06 pm

It was gonna come up eventually.

» Posted By ADONAI On March 22, 2011 @ 8:57 pm

HA!

FDA approved

I mentioned this on HP earlier and it brought all kinds of heat against me. so I thought I’d see how it floats here.

I don’t vote. I voted once. A long time ago. The guy I voted for won, everyone who pushed me to do it said it was great and that I made the right choice and blah blah blah. Things would get better. They didn’t. it actually got worse. Much worse. For a whole fucking decade. I decided to no longer participate in a process that never favored me or my people. I feel like if I just voted to be doing it, I would be dishonest. My vote would be meaningless. Even if the person I voted for won. They don’t represent me or anyone I know. At all.

So does that make me unpatriotic? A bad citizen? A bad person? For a while I thought it did but I consulted my mentor Mr. Carlin and he said it was cool as long as you really didn’t feel represented. So I stuck with it.

I salute this kid for being a true patriot.

I would like to point out that I did my duty years ago as a high school junior.

KT, I love this video. Saw it on Tosh 2.0 awhile back. As soon as the asshole turns around he realizes there is nothign he can do about it. Wish more people shared that guy’s sense of civic duty.

**EDIT**

And I’m guessing that dude gets laid, A LOT.
