Most people wanted to make George Washington another king. Most people were against women’s suffrage. The Civil War was so much more complex than “we wanna keep slaves” It’s not like “liberals” were rushing to end slavery. Most people agreed with Jim Crow laws. And most of the political points, like the Patriot Act and the Iraq War, received full approval from Democrats as well. Liberalism and conservatism are generic tags derived from the old French Parliament.
