Obama’s flourish of major legislation at the end of the year was amazing.

He still doesn’t get enough credit for it.

I felt the same way about Congress. When the Republicans won I said I hope they do what they said they will.

Bring us jobs. Real deficit reduction. I WANT them to succeed. I hope they drop these silly social agendas they are pursuing and start addressing our economy in a positive way.

I oh so agree hat people pinned unreasonable expectations on this guy.

People say he over promised during his early campaign but what politician hasn’t? It’s called running for President.

I just can’t remember a President ever getting buried so hard for it.

Also,I hate it when people make fun of the “hope and change thing”. They missed the fucking point entirely.

Obama HOPED people would CHANGE and start taking their democracy seriously. He miscalculated. Severely.

I’ve always felt people should support the President regardless of Party. Everyone is in this together.

Disagree with him all you want but we need to stop rooting for failure on both sides.

It doesn’t benefit any of us.

O.K. There is another quote I like that comes from the same time period as that one.

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

And I never had rosy glasses. I don’t see Obama embracing this system either. We seem to forget that since day one he has fought his own Party in Congress just as much as Republicans.

That he can only propose legislation. Congress then does what they will with it. But maybe it’s because I look at Obama as a politician.Like everyone should. And so far, he hasn’t disappointed me because I never pinned any unreal expectations on him.

Well, first of all, someone has to counter “over there’s” anti-Obama slant.

What, in your opinion, makes Obama “not a good man”. We can debate his policies all day, many of which I disagree with

But he seems like a “:good man” to me. Flawed like us all but his words and actions reflect someone trying to do the right thing in a system that doesn’t make it easy.

I only have 2 real problems with Obama. One is legit and the other is totally personal preference.

I don’t care for his decisions so far on Afghanistan and I wish he were a little tougher on the American people.

Like a lot of progressives, I won’t be happy til we are completely out of Afghanistan. I wish he would give us something other than the same revolving dates that Bush gave us.

And I wish he would get tough on people. I wish he would tell them that he is reforming credit card practices not just to “protect the people” but to address their addiction to credit.

I know it sounds crazy, but he needs a little Nixon in him right now.

I have a certain style to my posts that HP just doesn’t accommodate anymore.

Sure I could have stayed and tailored my approach to fit their ever shifting arbitrary guidelines but it was starting to wear on me.

If I can’t put down what I really think then why bother, ya know?

And I agree that you are far better here. Your style of posting lends itself to long form. You’re not a poster but a blogger. The restrictions and word limits only hampered your already spectacular posts in my opinion.

And the number one reason people won’t give up HP is because they think this site is an “echo chamber”. Everyone is always in agreement.

As though they don’t relentlessly attack anyone there who isn’t like minded. They only want dissenting opinion so they can ridicule it to feel better about their own views.

Finally removed my HP profile today. I wanted to keep “dual citizenship” but the last few times I posted there I couldn’t keep half of what I had written.

When my non abusive, profanity free post about the Muslim Brotherhood was deleted 5 separate times, I just gave up.

I disagree. I don’t like polls. People will say anything on the phone. I think this country is A LOT more conservative than those on the left want to admit.

The reason why many Democratic politicians don’t really push a lot of social and cultural issues.

I think it’s not that Democrats aren’t organized.

They just aren’t as quick to swallow their principles, to “tow the party line”

As many Republicans are. Exchanging their pride for some quick brownie points with Party leadership.
