That shit is miserable looking. » Posted By ADONAI On March 2, 2011 @ 6:03 pm They’re protesting a funeral. I think we can “deal” with that, thank you. » Posted By ADONAI On March 2, 2011 @ 5:55 pm KT, restrictions on what can be said means that your society is less open. Not more open. But I am the wrong person to have this discussion with. As long as you didn’t kill anyone, I don’t give a shit what you say or do. Hurt feelings are not enough to justify censorship to me. Freedom of speech does not exist to protect you from things you don’t like. It exists to protect things you don’t like from you. » Posted By ADONAI On March 2, 2011 @ 5:53 pm Well, I was telling Abby the other day that I’d love to bring back the stocks. Just lock people in and leave rotten vegetables nearby. I think public shame is highly underrated. » Posted By ADONAI On March 2, 2011 @ 5:47 pm cher – O.K. ‘Cause I see hate everyday and no one is calling for it to be illegal. I felt maybe you were referring to a specific kind of hate. This country legislates hate. So,what is hate? » Posted By ADONAI On March 2, 2011 @ 5:45 pm @funksands Sorry to have misinterpreted you. I’m totally behind you on that. That is the only way to battle ignorance. I’m all about public humiliation for those who deserve it. » Posted By ADONAI On March 2, 2011 @ 5:42 pm What is hate? » Posted By ADONAI On March 2, 2011 @ 5:39 pm cher- If they silence people from speaking their opinion, simply because they disagree with it, then yes. They do. » Posted By ADONAI On March 2, 2011 @ 5:39 pm So that’s what we do now? We “squash” people we disagree with and justify it with the First Amendment? » Posted By ADONAI On March 2, 2011 @ 5:33 pm No, but many other laws do. » Posted By ADONAI On March 2, 2011 @ 5:29 pm It has nothing to do with an individual’s perceived notion of what is right or wrong. Only legal precedence. And that is what the Supreme Court ruled. What that “church” does is no better or no worse than a Klan rally. But we live in a country where people are allowed to speak their views. In public. Freedom is very much an all or nothing thing. That’s why it is called freedom. But you can’t really have that in a society so you do the best you can with what they allow you. Silence these people and you give grounds to someone to silence a group you may support. They’re horrible people but if you wanna live in an “open society” you gotta tolerate them. Not accept them. Just tolerate them. » Posted By ADONAI On March 2, 2011 @ 5:28 pm Freedom of speech does not exist to protect you from things you disagree with. It exists to protect things you disagree with from you. » Posted By ADONAI On March 2, 2011 @ 5:11 pm I think I’m pre-judging. So that actually makes me prejudice. Wait… what am I doing? I’m only making this worse! » Posted By ADONAI On March 1, 2011 @ 5:53 pm And sometimes they clash in unsavory ways a la Mel “Are you fucking serious?” Gibson » Posted By ADONAI On March 1, 2011 @ 5:45 pm Because and everything? » Posted By ADONAI On March 1, 2011 @ 5:44 pm I know I say this a lot but, I blame the Jews. » Posted By ADONAI On March 1, 2011 @ 5:31 pm Amen, boomer. Amen. » Posted By ADONAI On March 1, 2011 @ 5:25 pm boomer, I could meet you halfway on that. Most people don’t realize the CATO institute is just a front for Republican industrialists. » Posted By ADONAI On March 1, 2011 @ 4:59 pm But if you’re gonna have a debate, you can’t bring on two people who agree with each other. The Kochsuckers own the other side of this “debate”. » Posted By ADONAI On March 1, 2011 @ 4:46 pm boomer,In that case, I could not agree more. » Posted By ADONAI On March 1, 2011 @ 4:35 pm Facts?! We don’t need no stinking facts! » Posted By ADONAI On March 1, 2011 @ 4:34 pm boomer, Obama? Meh. I use to be one of the people who wished he would get more vocal but then he passed a bunch of legislation he had no business passing so I kinda have trouble criticizing him on that now. I just purely disagree with some of his policy stances. » Posted By ADONAI On March 1, 2011 @ 4:10 pm Average pay for teachers K-12, in many different categories. Each grade, experience, state by state, etc. Also includes bonuses, vacation pay and so on. Very detailed. http://www.payscale.com/research/US/All_K-12_Teachers/Salary Top 5 average teacher’s salaries by state 1. California($50,236) » Posted By ADONAI On March 1, 2011 @ 4:02 pm KT, I’m inclined to agree with you. It’s one of those “let’s go to the videotape” type of things. There were videos on Youtube put together after that shooting just to drive the point home that the Right pushes violent rhetoric on it’s base like it were crack. » Posted By ADONAI On March 1, 2011 @ 2:51 pm KT, people always go too far. I’ve never understood the need for such violent rhetoric in public debate. Politicians and the media alike are very apt to make such statements. The reason I like Obama is the same reason many criticize him. He follows the Teddy Roosevelt mantra of “Speak softly and carry a big stick”. » Posted By ADONAI On March 1, 2011 @ 2:26 pm Look, the tens of billions of dollars we’re missing by taxing corporations isn’t the problem here. The problem is the millions of dollars we’re missing by providing heat to the poor and quality education to our children. It’s the poor and the teachers who are our real problem! WAKE UP AMERICA!!! » Posted By ADONAI On March 1, 2011 @ 2:03 pm A “mark of Cain” type situation? Yeah, I could be down with that in certain situations. » Posted By ADONAI On March 1, 2011 @ 1:50 pm The girls in my family didn’t get whipped and that was about it. Mostly because the girls in my family were always pretty well behaved. Boys will just be boys. » Posted By ADONAI On March 1, 2011 @ 1:47 pm Abby, I’ve always found that shame is the best medicine for any asshole. And as for the other topic: When I was going through school, many states were contemplating ending corporal punishment in schools. I got paddled at school ONCE. Because, like you said, once was enough. And boy, did I deserve it. Where I come from, people whipped their kids. Not for everything but when they needed to make a point, the strap came out. On a side note, nothing was worse than my “Mamaw B” telling me to go “cut my own switch”. Basically select the instrument you are about to be disciplined with. Talk about regret. God I miss you Mamaw. » Posted By ADONAI On March 1, 2011 @ 1:42 pmComments Posted By ADONAI
