NOTHING TOO BAD THOUGH** I recently watched the movie Skyline or, as I like to call it, “Watching People In an Apartment React to Cool Shit Happening Outside That You Can’t See”. Didn’t pay a dime to watch it yet I somehow feel cheated. Most of the movie takes place inside of an apartment! Every once and awhile they show you what is happening outside but it’s mostly people freaking out in an apartment with occasional trips outside where most of the “action” takes place. By action I mean more scattered panicking. You wait around the whole movie to find out why the aliens are there kidnapping people and they don’t really explain it very well. Plus,it doesn’t end! They seem to set up a sequel. The worst part, instead of showing you the final scenes of the movie, they do it comic book style during the fucking credits! It was ridiculous! What just happened?! What is that?! Why did that happen?! Those are the questions I was left with. And this movie isn’t getting a sequel! It was terrible! Where will they find another apartment to spend 75 minutes in!? Probably my favorite month of the year. The NBA and NHL are gearing up for the postseason. MLB’s spring training is well under way. And then there’s March Madness. A month long tournament/celebration featuring the best of the best in college basketball(and some teams that we can debate the rest of the fucking year as to whether they belong or not). And I know college sports has it’s problems. The NCAA is a bully monopoly and major programs seem to be investigated every year for improprieties. Coaches “cheat” and players are, well, they’re 18 year old college students. What are we expecting? But I love this time of year. Tournament time. For many small schools, their conference tournament title is the only way into the “big dance” at the end. And it is always so exciting. 95% of the kids at these schools have no shot at playing pro. At least not in the NBA. This is everything for them. And the excitement from the buzzer beaters, the joy of seeing these kids trying to process the unbelievable euphoria sweeping over them. It’s great. I root for Kentucky but every tournament I find a small team or two, a “Cinderella story”, to follow. You can’t NOT root for them(unless they’re playing Kentucky). I hope we get more than a few upsets this year because it always brings out the assholes on TV who can’t believe this “nobody team” ruined someone’s special tournament just for them. Why do Republicans always seem to get back ahead? Because they represent America. They represent the side that is vocally with them and the side that is silently with them. Because hate is easy. Very easy. It’s easy to divide. It’s easy to judge. WE are what is wrong with this country. Not our politicians. Not our businessmen. They come from us.
