Vox Populi, our weekly live chat about the week’s events begins tonight at 7:00pm PDT. Hope to see you then! AdLib 3 hours ago
Hey Khirad! AdLib 2 hours ago
I got here early. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Hey Murph! AdLib 2 hours ago
I mean it in the best way, but I know most of you are older than me and I know history, but this scares me… Khirad 2 hours ago
Hi Ad…hi Khirad…. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Khirad – These are scary times. We’re on a knife’s edge between democracy and authoritarianism, havoc and violence spreading across the country. But I think things are slightly leaning against Trump making that happen now. But who knows? AdLib 2 hours ago
Khirad….you are wise beyond your years perhaps….I am 70……share your age if you like…I have a friend who is in his early 40’s and has made it his business to know our history deep, long and wide. Way wiser than his years as a result. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
I’m forty, I have parents, I know ancient history as well, but is this better or worse than Nixon? Khirad 2 hours ago
Thankfully, the generals are coming out to declare that, in essence, Trump is a traitor to our democracy and I think people are starting to realize that there will be consequences for following Trump when he is defeated. AdLib 2 hours ago
I was in O’Fallon and Ferguson this week taking part in demonstrations….”“I know people consider Ferguson as Ground Zero,” Jones said Wednesday. “However, every time injustice is done, they don’t have to come here and tear up our city.”masked and at a distance.,…but there….the new mayor in Ferguson, a black woman, Ella Jones who just won election, is taking a role in shaping her town’s response that is very healthy. Agreat quote: MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Khirad – There was a great deal havoc back during Nixon and fear but there wasn’t a worry that there could be a military, dictatorial coup. AdLib 2 hours ago
Kirad…this is worse…much, much worse than Nixon on many levels. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
AD, that was the crux of it, also Murph. Khirad 2 hours ago
You know I know history… and… Khirad 2 hours ago
Murph – Really thrilled for Ella Jones, Ferguson and MO! AdLib 2 hours ago
I had ab unpopular idea of showing up with American flags and police flags and flowers. I’m not at war with good cops. Khirad 2 hours ago
Khirad – Yes, I know you know your history but to live through it gives you a unique perspective. Young people will be asking you what it was like when you’re older. Imagine being in Munich when Hitler was on the rise…but being part of the majority that stopped him. AdLib 2 hours ago
AD, I’ll write about Otto Wells and the Iron Front later, but I don’t want it to get there. Khirad 2 hours ago
brb – finishing interview on AUS Radio in Perth pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
They show up with semi-automatic weapons on the steps of state capitols. I’m say if we did that? Khirad 2 hours ago
Khirad – I think that’s a good idea. I have a perspective about the police being really exposed now, and it’s pretty bad stuff. AdLib 2 hours ago
PPO….you being interviewed? MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Hey glenn! AdLib 2 hours ago
Hi PPO! AdLib 2 hours ago
PP, is there any Cornish stuff left in Perth? Khirad 2 hours ago
I know a deputy sheriff in my county who says his department is fractured right now. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
PPO – You’re being interviewed? AdLib 2 hours ago
Hi Glenn. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Don’t make the police the enemy. You remember me talking about Iran or the Cold War. They are not. Khirad 2 hours ago
Ad…Jinx MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Evening, gents. These indeed are scary times. Perplexing, as well. I’m confused, perplexed, and absolutely pissed at ANYONE who thinks using the military, or much worse, unidentified “soldiers” to attack protesters is okay. It’s just unbelievable to me. glenn 2 hours ago
There are many good policemen out there but this militarization and “warrior” mentality, along with iniltration by white nationalists and other racists, is poison in the system that needs to be removed. AdLib 2 hours ago
I’ve been on the wrong end of the law and pulled over. I’ve also played with police in pipe bands. Khirad 2 hours ago
Murph – I know! Saw your comment just after I hit “send”! AdLib 2 hours ago
This para-military army of the unknowns assembled from a variety of federal policing grounds in the executive branch is vile…absolutely vile. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
AD, it’s the unidentified I was thinking about. That is different. Khirad 2 hours ago
Khirad–yes, there are many good cops out there. They need to make their voices heard more. There are also cops like those who resigned (52 of them) because 2 of their fellow policemen were suspended for pushing down an elderly man, causing him to bleed from his ear. Then they walked by him. These are the cops who need to go! glenn 2 hours ago
There is nothing constitutional about a gendarmerie in the USA. Khirad 2 hours ago
Khirad–exactly. It’s time Congress let the RTLB know this. It may be time for another impeachment. glenn 2 hours ago
glenn – Being that Trump spoke with Putin before this militarization, threats of the Insurrection Act and making the WH a fortress began, I think Trump asked for advice and told Trump he had to dominate and use the military to scare the public into embracing him as their strongman who will keep order. But this is America, we don’t roll like that and Trump is a failure at everything. The protests have only grown, the more he builds up his threats and military presences. AdLib 2 hours ago
Murph–it’s not only vile, I’m pretty sure it’s unconstitutional. glenn 2 hours ago
Sorry! I’m still in MEL, Radio Freemantle in Perth had an Irish show on so they interviewed me about my Dad. I was supposed to be on for about 15 mins, but they kept me for an hour! pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Murph – I’ve heard them referred to as Secret Police. That’s what they are and that should chill any American. And Barr, who has zero constitutional authority to do so, is commanding them. AdLib 2 hours ago
Ice T was escoriated for his track Cop Killer, and became a good friend of cops without changing his views. They are people and I effing hated them for a long time. There are those that get into the force for the right reasons and those who don’t – but have badge members and not part of some Praetorian guard/ Khirad 2 hours ago
Ad–I agree that the RTLB’s tactics are backfiring on him. IMO, though, it’s time to do something. Too many people are getting hurt for exercising their constitutional rights. I’m not sure we can wait for November for the RTLB to be gone. glenn 2 hours ago
PPO–A star is born! glenn 2 hours ago
Blush! pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
You all know that and a bunch of folks from the “old guard” among protestors were asked to go to Ferguson in support of the protests there a few years back…..it went badly….how very different this experience is becoming…two bad nights…a new mayor who assembles a broad coalition to reshape the protests…woman as leaders….and black woman in particular were my teachers in the days of the Student Non Violent Coordinating Committee that Ralph Abernathy headed and they were incredible. I am seeing that again. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
So they finally built RTLB’s wall – around the White House! pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
A number also hate Soros and I remember this. And I needle them, and they come up with more Jewish names. I’m not talking FB, but the old Bilderbergs and such. Khirad 2 hours ago
There’s also the cops who have murdered a black man and a black woman in the last few months, out of malice. And the internet is overrunning with video of police beating, shooting and gassing peaceful protesters. They are out of control all across the country. AdLib 2 hours ago
Khirad–I think you have hit on part of the problem with today’s cops. We need to have much better screening processes in place before someone is given a badge, a gun, and the attitude that “cops are always right”. glenn 2 hours ago
My point on Soros was whether or not you like Color Revolutions… Khirad 2 hours ago
PPO – Very cool!!! AdLib 2 hours ago
PPO….I am ready for my closeup, Mr. DeMille! Spotlight, Please. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Ad, maybe they all feel threatened because of the stupidity of a few, so their idea of defence is offence. Not that when they show humanity and side with the protesters, there is no problem. pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Hasan Minhaj and a few others have hit on the point, as well. I never thought Jimmy Kimmel would be part of the Resistance, but for all those that complain about Teacher’s unions? Khirad 2 hours ago
Murph–I hope this experience turns out well. glenn 2 hours ago
glenn – My first plea would be for all cities to end curfews, all that they’re causing is plice to have an excuse to beat innocent, peaceful people. Sure, they should be patrolling protests for the “bad apples”…just as they should be patrolling their own ranks for “bad apples.” AdLib 2 hours ago
PPO–Yeah, I hope the RTLB stays behind it. He might need some more bunker time. glenn 2 hours ago
WAY too many cops are young military vets….way too many……and the old hands agree with that AND there are more than a few who are militia activities which takes me back to the days when police took off badges at night to put on hoods. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Ad–it’s amazing to me that cops keep proving what the protests are all about. glenn 2 hours ago
Biden should have a video shot at the fences around the White House and say, “Tear down this wall!” It is supposed t be The People’s House. Now it’s a baby gate for the Bunker Bitch. AdLib 2 hours ago
PPO–Cops shouldn’t feel threatened if they are doing their jobs with fairness and judiciousness. Of course, as I just said, they keep proving they’re not. glenn 2 hours ago
Ad, ‘Mr. Putin, tear down this wall!” pinkpantheroz 2 hours ago
Too much too respond to, but I grew up and who joined the force? Y’all said it. You have to be. I’d broaden the scope to correction officers, but we need an overhaul of our criminal justice system. Even for white kids selling shrooms and locked up forever because the… Hassan Minhaj and Jon Stewart and so many have nailed it. They are rewarded for sentencing by the private prison industry and this is more about that, but… Khirad 2 hours ago
Glenn…given how ever-present video is today, those police doing the things that some are doing is audacious and may reflect their belief that their president will protect them. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
Khirad–I’m not sure what is meant by the “color revolutions”. glenn 2 hours ago
Khirad, no comparison with anti-semetic, racist conspiracy theory nutjobs attacking Soros for everything bad that they can think of. Really? An old Jewish man caused the protests and not an outraged black community that is being killed off by racist police? I mean, we watched a public murder by a policeman. But Soros done it? AdLib 2 hours ago
Ad….Mr. Trump….tear down this wall…poignant and a direct link to Russian autocrats. MurphTheSurf3 2 hours ago
You all lost me. Khirad 2 hours ago
I’m saying I deal with anti-Semites and color revolutions were peaceful revolution with flags and flowers. Khirad an hour ago
Murph–that’s long been the problem with vets becoming police officers. As military personnel, they are taught to kill, maim, and keep the enemy out. When they join the police forces, there seems to be no retraining, so they look at their fellow citizens as the “enemy”, when their job is to protect and serve, not kill. In some ways, it’s a subtle difference, but it’s the most important difference in their mindset. glenn an hour ago
PPO – This is pretty straightforward for me. The police recognize that if the protesters succeed, their power, their immunity and their funding will be impacted. So the protests and protesters are seen as an existential threat to them and their goal is to shut down the protests completely, not just stop the looting and damage. They clearly don’t want peaceful protests to continue and they have been acting like a military force attacking the enemy. AdLib an hour ago
Ad and Murph–What a photo op for Biden that would be! glenn an hour ago
AD, I hate this really fast sometimes, as I agree. It’s hard to keep up and I have ADD! Khirad an hour ago
Ad–yup. We must’ve been typing at the same time. glenn an hour ago
Khirad, I know, it can be hard to catch up sometimes. I just let it go and take my time answering to replies in order that I read them. Sometimes I get way behind but it’s all good. AdLib an hour ago
I don’t think I disagree, just the anti-Semitic thing gets me, when I’m not and I was describing what I hear from the Trumpists. Khirad an hour ago
Khirad–Yes, it sure would be nice to go back to flags and flowers. glenn an hour ago
The March in O’Fallon was organized by a group of high school students. I went because one of my friends has a grandson in the march. O’Fallon is a pretty diverse town so the crowd was a patchwork. We assembled at the high school at 4 PM on Tuesday. The police were there but no riot gear. Just as we were getting ready to step off…a police car pulled up and the chief and his deputy got out of the car, came up to our line and asked if there was room for them. Marvelous. They walked the whole route and then engaged in a two hour dialogue with all kinds of people. A ice cream truck pulled up and gave out freebies and there was water supplied by the fire department. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
glenn – Definitely, we are on the same page. I think radical change is needed. I think polce frorces should be strategically dissolved and then every officer needs to re-apply and be vetted and if successful, trained not as a “warrior” but as a “peacekeeper”, to look at the mass public as their people and those who commit crimes as all of our adversaries. And get rid of the militarized uniforms and equipment. We don’t need cops in humvees in our towns. AdLib an hour ago
Was it Romania or Czechoslovakia where they stuck daisies in muzzles? Khirad an hour ago
Khirad–It’s difficult to reason with the RTLB’s cultists. Sometimes you just have to ignore them. glenn an hour ago
glad they got the guy who assaulted to kids on the bicycle track pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Murph–Very cool march! How refreshing to see there are some police who “get it”. glenn an hour ago
Khirad, I have the same experience with scrolll…and the speed at times…but you hold your own well… MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
In Portland the Plice have kneeled and I see some police dancing. I’m just saying I remembering how to do a coup d’état and you need to peel the security off to your side. Khirad an hour ago
Khirad, yep, I know yoou were just explaining what RW extremists wail about, all their bigoted conspiracy theories. Just saying that their made up BS and our witnessing on video, cops doing horrible things aren’t comparable. And BTW, I’ve seen cops, like the CoP in Houston, being outstanding officers and leaders too. AdLib an hour ago
Khirad – Pentagon, Vietnam protests pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Murph – That makes me very happy to hear. Very cool! AdLib an hour ago
oops! pinkpantheroz an hour ago
PP so you don’t know Kernuok, it’s a dead language, but I heard you were in Perth. Khirad an hour ago
It was nominated for the 1967 Pulitzer Prize. Taken on October 21, 1967, during a march to the Pentagon, the iconic photo shows a young, long-haired Vietnam protestor in a turtleneck sweater, placing carnations into the barrel of a rifle of a National Guardsman. AdLib an hour ago
AdLib an hour ago
Sorry, I just get sensitive sometimes and feel misunderstood. Khirad an hour ago
Khirad, no, sorry I was being interviewed by a Perth Radio station on the phne. I’m still in Melbourne pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Ad–I agree. There needs to be extensive purging (for lack of a better word) of all police forces. I also think the militarization of our police has not helped. When young people put on battle gear, I think their “muscle memory” takes over, and what they were taught by the military, while wearing those uniforms, comes back into play. This is what the military trained them to do, when wearing those uniforms and equipment, so that is what they’ll do, without thought. I’m not saying that military training for the military is wrong or not necessary. I’m saying we have to get those young vets to understand there is a difference between being in the military and being on a police force. glenn an hour ago
So that’s what I’m talking about. The more peaceful protesters get mowed down, mothers, and everyone I would hope shuts off FOX and sees the true carnage. Khirad an hour ago
Khirad–Exactly. The more cops who are refusing to strike out at their fellow citizens, the better. glenn an hour ago
Khirad, one thing you can be assured of is that no matter what anyone says here, including you, there is never any malice or negative intent behind anything. I know everyone here, have known them for many years now and this is as kind (and brilliant) group of people to discuss anything with, without being judged or knocked. AdLib an hour ago
Khirad…..I agree…..those who care for those being taken apart respond as you suggest and those who see their own young, their own loved one, represented by those they see on tv they begin to change… MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
glenn – I agree, one immediate step that would help is make police wear just their uniforms, no military gear. Dress like people who are not a threat and they will instantly feel a bit less like being a hostile force. AdLib an hour ago
Sorry guys… I look forward to this every Friday, just feel fragile lately, and it’s good to hear it’s on me, in a weird way. Khirad an hour ago
What’s worrying me is that the Pandemic is being shunted aside for the coverage of the bad cops. COVID-19 will kill thousands more than the fuzz. We can’t keep protesting, otherwise the virus will spike again. Maybe there’s another way to register our anger without contaminating each other pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Hi everyone! Glad to see you all. choicelady an hour ago
Glenn…the sheriff in my county two elections ago had been militarizing the look of his deputies…..helmets, leather gloves, heavier arms, lots of insignia….it was like living in a banana republic…..a new sheriff chosen two years ago has turned the clock back….yogi the bear hats, standard police gear, simpler uniforms and an emphasis on policing IN the community FOR the community. Very helpful. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
I’m about to duck out but who remembers Andy Griffith in especially the Face in a Crowd after playing the friendly cop? Khirad an hour ago
CL! pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Hey PPO! choicelady an hour ago
Hey Khirad – sorry you’re feeling engy. It’s all of us at differing levels. choicelady an hour ago
Chin up, Khirad. You’re among friends here pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Khirad – I SO remember “Face in the Crowd!!!!! choicelady an hour ago
Khirad–“Oh, lord, please don’t let me be misunderstood”. Are you too young to remember that song? I think it was by the Animals or even the Stones, and I don’t even remember the title, but it says, “I’m just a boy whose intentions are good, Oh Lord, please don’t let me be misunderstood.” Anyway, I hope you’ll let me know if I misunderstand you, and I’ll do my best to correct the misunderstanding. glenn an hour ago
Khirad….where is the feeling of fragility coming from…just generally….feel free to share or ignore my inquiry…..just want to acknowledge it and respond helpfully. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
I started from a position of, how can protesters protect themselves better from assaults by police and defend themselves. It’s how I thought after seeing the Hong Kong protests and before that, the Occupy Wall Street protests. I think the protesters should create defensive-only shields as the HK protesters did, trash can lids and such, to defend from ribber bullets. Safety cones to help put out tear gas cannisters, etc. But in the end, the only way to win and overcome these violent police forces is with numbers. There are rumors that 1 million people are hoped to march in DC tomorrow. I hope so, in such numbers, the police and military frces there will see that violence will not work. AdLib an hour ago
I grew up with the Stones, it was my dad’s favorite band behind The Who, so.. Khirad an hour ago
ADLib and all – I heard the Army is pulling OUT all the troops up from Fort Bragg. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs sent a letter you may have seen to the heads of each branch reminding they their oath is to the Constitution NOT an individual. They are bound by the rules of their services that specify everyone from grunt to general is required to DISOBEY an illegal order. choicelady an hour ago
Khirad–Yes, I agree 100%. My chat with the folks here at VOX is my weekly dose of sanity. I always leave here feeling better about what’s going on around me, because I have met with people who make me think, and help me to understand. glenn an hour ago
AD, simpatico on defense techniques. Like, I know all the Joan Baez stuff, but I’m more Rage Against the Machine. Khirad an hour ago
Here in Australia, the authorities are pushing back at the prospect of a massive demonstration in the major cities to protest and favor BLack Lives Matter, due to contamination worries. Any crowd over 20 will be fined! yes, I can see that happening! pinkpantheroz an hour ago
PPO – I saw tweets about the PM saying that. Duh… choicelady an hour ago
PP, stupid Libs! Khirad an hour ago
I heard a comment by a long time, now retired, support staff member who worked in the White House for 30 years……her comment- “I never thought the White House would become the White Power Fortress but it has. I am deeply ashamed.” MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Murph – I think lots of staffers of the past feel that way. choicelady an hour ago
PPO – It’s a difficullt time, protesting during a pandemic. Stay at home and let an authoritarian, racist regime take hold or protest and risk your health to stop murderous, racist acts by police? There is no good choice but hopefully, if we can get real change through the House next week as it appears we will, then pressure the Senate and Trump to either pass it or be drowned in a massive blue wave in Nov, we can turn back to dealig with COVID-19. Very optimistic, I know but otherwise, more likely, we are going to have to juggle COVID-19 and protesting for black lives and our democracy. AdLib an hour ago
I bet the WH regular staff can’t wait to fumigate the place in January pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Khirad–I just saw a couple of polls earlier tonight that show that a clear majority–some polls show 74% of Americans disagree with the way the RTLB is handling the protests. So, foxsocallednews, or the RTLB’s propaganda station is not working so well. glenn an hour ago
glenn – RTLB? I’m acronym burned out tonight. choicelady an hour ago
Hi, CL…..I have read that there is very serious action being taken to ensure that the Madman in the Oval Office does not break out the nuclear codes. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
glenn, has the penny finally dropped about Fox? Hope so and hope the advertisers are being targetted with boycotts pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Khirad – A Face in the Crowd was fantastic! AdLib an hour ago
Hey Choicelady! AdLib an hour ago
Murph – Nixon tried to start a war on the heels of Watergate before his resignation. Joint Chiefs refuse. choicelady an hour ago
Refused. choicelady an hour ago
Hey AD! choicelady an hour ago
Ad–I saw an article today where some protesters are bringing leaf blowers to the protests so they can blow the tear gas away from themselves, which is a trick the Hong Kong protesters came up with. Also, after the gas is blown back, they are dousing the canisters with water to put them out. So there’s that. glenn an hour ago
glenn – GREAT idea, leaf blowers!!! There are battery powered ones. Good for them! choicelady an hour ago
glenn, is that the tear gas that isn’t being used? pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Hey Choice Lady. Glad you are here! glenn an hour ago
Ad and PPO…..protesting during the pandemic is a great challenge but my crowd is making a very significant effort to keep things safe. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
CL – Yes, that is fantastic! Seeing military leaders and ex-Generals stepping up right now to refuse to be pawns in Trump’s attempt at a military coup. I had heard mentions of current leaders in the military saying they were not going to obey illegal orders, now we’re seeing that was legit. Now why can’t cops do that too? AdLib an hour ago
Khirad–yeah, the Stones were great! glenn an hour ago
Khirad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bw7RTUEZMyg
pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Ad – Cops ARE on the same oath, but they’ve been brainwashed by years of militarization and fears of POC. They should be held to the same standards but aren’t. Until NOW… choicelady an hour ago
PPO – blast from my past! choicelady an hour ago
Have they worked out who those mercenaries were from? pinkpantheroz an hour ago
CL–My new name for the person occupying the Oval Office. It used to be the TLB, for Treasonous, Lying Bully. But last week I added the “R” for Racist, Treasonous, Lying Bully.
I will never call him by his name. glenn an hour ago
PPO – Just before this all started who should show up in DC but old Erik Prince. I have zero doubt where the mercenaries are from. I do believe that is illegal. choicelady an hour ago
Ad–what’s the change coming next week in the House? glenn an hour ago
glenn – INSPRED!!!!! Thank you! choicelady an hour ago
INSPIRED. Not Inspred. Dyslexia of the fingers… choicelady an hour ago
PPO – I’m of mixed feelings about that. On one hand, your PM, like Trump are not really about looking out for the public so it sounds more like an attempt to suppress a movement for political change. On the other hand, COVID-19 is rampant and spreading like wildfire. I guess the best way to err is to allow people to risk their health in pursuit of something far bigger than them. AdLib an hour ago
PPO–Don’t know if the penny has finally dropped on fox. I just know what the polls are saying. I don’t think fox’s viewership has changed much, just as the RTLB’s poll numbers really haven’t changed much, as far as “approval” of him as president. I just know that the majority of Americans are fed up at this point. glenn an hour ago
Ad – here in Sacramento we went to a gathering a week ago that had EVERYONE in masks and with reasonable social distance. That’s not been so true lately, but we are all wearing masks at least. The upticks in cases are from Red states where there are far fewer demonstrations and way more assholes. choicelady an hour ago
A word about the pandemic. You know my “button” that I announced last week. They arrived and I gave them to the folks who promised to wear them. I have gotten a positive reaction from many…..the pressure out there not to wear a mask needs to be answered and the mask design seems to be doing that. I do know how to post an image but Ad said he would when he gets a moment. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Ad, I’m like you cynically thinking it is to limit turnout. Australia is flattening the curve well and very few new cases. We just need to keep it that way, but, as you say, not by limiting our rights to protest pinkpantheroz an hour ago
glenn – That’s great! I saw a video listing many of the tactics those in HK have learned to use, including the leafblower and dropping traffic cones on tear gas grenades then extinguishing them with water. Very pleased they’re using them! AdLib an hour ago
PPO–Thanks. It was the Animals! glenn an hour ago
Murph – That’s great to hear, I am worried for the health of protesters but in awe of their (and yoour) bravery to be out there! AdLib an hour ago
OH…the button features a Black Mask with COVID 19 on it in yellow and then these words in black on a yellow background: For My Sake, For Your Sake, For Our Sake….Please Wear a Mask! MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Well done, Murph. pinkpantheroz an hour ago
CL–Yes, I thought the leaf blowers were a great idea. Keeping it peaceful, too! glenn an hour ago
PPO-LOL! glenn an hour ago
CL – Yes, there needs to be a quick reckoning and reform of police forces across the country. Then a real purge of the white nationalists, hostile and the military gear along with them. AdLib an hour ago
CL–It’s not the demonstrations that are killing the people in the red states. It’s their willingness to go to bars and restaurants without masks. Or to crowd into pools and lakes like they did in Lake of the Ozarks over the Memorial Day weekend. glenn an hour ago
Well, folks, I gotta grab a coffee – throat raw from taking for an hour. See you all next week. Stay safe. pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Well, as one who follows extremism, most of the vandalism, looting seems to be RW groups. In Sacramento Saturday and especially Sunday it was all white people that decimated the city from Front Street (1st() to 28th. Almost no place isn’t boarded up. And I don’t know who did it. The cops got trashed this morning for NOT responding to it well. We have 28 city blocks plus side streets now NOT operating. Horrible. choicelady an hour ago
glenn – The House is going to introduce a big police reform bill next week, led by Kamala Harris and Cory Booker. AdLib an hour ago
talking* pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Murph–you are such an inspiration. glenn an hour ago
PPO – have a great weekend! Hope to see you soon! choicelady an hour ago
Murph – I totally agree with glenn. You’re amazing. choicelady an hour ago
Ad–I had heard about that bill; didn’t know it was coming up that quickly. Of course, it will probably die a quick death in the Senate under the turtle. glenn an hour ago
PPO…just a coffee….not a pint! Well, I hoist one to you…good on you! MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Bye, PPO. glenn an hour ago
CL–The RW is determined to start a civil war. glenn an hour ago
Anyone hear about the DC rent boys uniting to out Lady G? That could undermine MITCH if Lindsey Graham goes deep to avoid that stuff. choicelady an hour ago
CL – That sounds very good! However, casses in CA are spiking so I’ve been a bit concerned about what things willl look like in two weeks, after the protests started. And yes, red states and rural towns are in big trouble with infections, made worse by Repub mayors and governors who are covering up the real infection and deaths numbers. AdLib an hour ago
glenn – we won’t let it happen. With the military on our side and police in rather curious locations moving to unite with the protesters, they cannot prevail. choicelady an hour ago
CL–Okay you lost me with the post about Lady G. Is that Graham? Who are the DC rent boys? glenn an hour ago
Glenn and CL….I do what I can but I must say that the two of you have been very, very good for me. My light was definitely dimming a few years back and you have both been powerful forces in reigniting it. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Ad – WE are worried about a spike. We’re OLD! choicelady an hour ago
The DC rent boys say Lindsey has hired every rent boy in the area, and they’re uniting to expose him. If he’s outed, his fidelity to Trump crumbles. choicelady an hour ago
Murph – you may have good days and bad, but you never falter. choicelady an hour ago
Lady Lindsey has been known for who he is for a long time….he has a “fiancee” he trots out in election years…..I say it is about time. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Murph -once the boys come out, Trump has no hold over Lady G. choicelady an hour ago
Here’s Murph’s new button!
AdLib an hour ago
Thank you CL>……this year has been a test…first the double bypass and then the broken arm…but friends, you very much among them, have lifted me up. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Cool, Ad!!! choicelady an hour ago
AD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Murph – how’s the arm doing? Two weeks ago it was troubling you a LOT. choicelady an hour ago
Murph–I remember “meeting” you on Huffington Post when you told me about the Planet website. Then I came over to the Planet and you related the story about how you convinced the grocery store owner in your town how Obamacare was not what he thought it was. I was so impressed by the way you used facts, persuasion, and friendliness to get your point across. Then you introduced me to VOX. So, I have been following your light for quite a few years now, and I am damn glad to do so. And glad to find out that I had a small part in helping it shine. glenn an hour ago
Murph, that’s “Lady G”. AdLib an hour ago
Murph–great button! glenn an hour ago
CL…I am back to two handed typing with just upper arm ache the price. I have about 1/3 strength in my upper right arm but am starting PT next week. Doctors are hopeful……Sleep starting to be possible again….so better. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
I hope this blows the lid off Lady G being compromised by Trump and Putin. And gets him out of the Senate, replaced by Jamie Harrison. AdLib an hour ago
BREAKING NEWS….Biden just clinched the Dem Nomination with the necessary delegates. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Alright, folks, time for me to call it a night. Always love our discussions, and tonight is no exception. Take care, everyone, stay safe, and wear that mask! glenn an hour ago
Murph – I met you here and found your steadfast leadership in your town amazing. I have loved you for years. We know the good you have done. If we can be supportive, great, but it’s YOU., choicelady an hour ago
Wear a Mask! Yes…….good night Glenn….seeing you next time. MurphTheSurf3 44 minutes ago
Murph – YAHOOO AND HOORAY!!!! So glad to see Biden get the delegates and get this show on the ROAD!!! choicelady 44 minutes ago
Murph – He was that close, glad to hear it! Oh, the poor Berners, now what magical thinking will they have about Bernie still becoming president? AdLib 44 minutes ago
Night glenn! Have a wonderful weekend! AdLib 44 minutes ago
Berners need to be Abideners now MurphTheSurf3 44 minutes ago
Good night, glenn – hope to keep talking soon. choicelady 43 minutes ago
CL…I must admit that Biden is impressing me…..he is SO sincere esp when standing next to His Royal Phoniness. MurphTheSurf3 43 minutes ago
So do we think Lady G is done now? Will he lose? AdLib 42 minutes ago
CL–I don’t actually live in Atlanta, I live in a town called Woodstock, which is about 40 miles NW of Atlanta. I do travel into the city occasionally, not much lately. My daughter gets tickets for the Atlanta United (soccer team) games sometimes, and that’s always a treat. We go to the Varsity for dinner beforehand, and it’s great! glenn 42 minutes ago
Murph – the presidency and hard times reveal who you are. Biden is clear. So is Trump. choicelady 42 minutes ago
glenn I know you’re not in Atlanta, but you can own Atlanta’s greatness! choicelady 42 minutes ago
Okay, over and out! glenn 42 minutes ago
glenn – Good night! choicelady 41 minutes ago
And does it now seem more likely that Biden will pick Harrs as his VP? Does Warren still have a shot? AdLib 41 minutes ago
Harris AdLib 41 minutes ago
I think Biden signaled NO on Warren by saying we need her in the Senate. choicelady 41 minutes ago
After George Floyd, hard to see him not picking Harris. AdLib 41 minutes ago
Ad – I think Harris. You KNOW I had reservations about her, but I’m liking her more by the hour. choicelady 41 minutes ago
I do not think that even Warren thinks she would be a good choice now. A black woman, please…Harris and several others would be fine by me. MurphTheSurf3 40 minutes ago
I don’t think Biden gets much we anyone BUT Harris though Val Demmings might work. And I’d be fine with that. choicelady 40 minutes ago
CL…your endorsement of Harris….puts here at the top of my list. MurphTheSurf3 39 minutes ago
Why the hesitancy re. Stacy Abrams? MurphTheSurf3 39 minutes ago
I like Demmings very much as well. MurphTheSurf3 39 minutes ago
CL – I think Warren could step into the presidency, I don’t think Harris would do anywhere near as good of a job as Warren but for multiple reasons, especially the race issue frnt and center, I think picking a person of color as VP energizes the black core Dem voters, promises real change on racial issues and makes a huge contrast between the Dem ticket and the whitebread Repub ticket…with a madman in the main spot. AdLib 38 minutes ago
SO…Ad do you have a black woman choice? MurphTheSurf3 38 minutes ago
Also…I really want Warren for Secretary of the Treasury…. MurphTheSurf3 37 minutes ago
I’m actually the oppostie, Ad. I see Warren as very narrow in her knowledge and not in civil rights at all. She is also extremely hyper in personality when we need calm. choicelady 37 minutes ago
Murph – I do think she’d be good as Treasury. choicelady 37 minutes ago
I like Demmings but I think Harris comes in with more name recognition and rep because she ran for the nom. I think Abrams is out, her lack of experience makes her less ready to become president if Joe has a health issue. And if he does, before the election, you need a VP who could step up to the top of the ticket and still win. AdLib 37 minutes ago
Ad – agreed. choicelady 36 minutes ago
CL and Ad…I am going to sit back and read your discussion. So much to learn from you both. MurphTheSurf3 36 minutes ago
One thing that isn’t substantive but important is having people who are stable, calm, quiet. We are EXHAUSTED being lab rats in Dr. Demento’s experiments. We simply cannot take another four years of hype, extreme emotionalism, anger, breathlessness. It is not all about policy. It’s also about peace in our daily lives. Harris can do it. Warren cannot. choicelady 35 minutes ago
CL – We are of two minds on Warren. I think she has proven her acumen by always swiftly coming up with pragmatic proposals to address issues. IMO, neither Biden or Harris touch that base. But I wouldn’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good. AdLib 35 minutes ago
Well…..perhaps I have learned it….really, you are both brilliant! I am off to bed! Until next week, adieu! MurphTheSurf3 34 minutes ago
Ad – I think her proposals are hollow, substanceless. She is GREAT on her issues, but really made HUGE blunders on health care. I simply don’t trust her polict acumen. Harris is much more substantive in a wider range of issues. choicelady 33 minutes ago
G’ night Murph ! Hope to be back here more to see you and “the gang”. Sweet dreams, no pain. choicelady 33 minutes ago
I know you feel that way, I disagree. Robert Reich has been a big supporter of her plans, he’s pretty substantial. AdLib 32 minutes ago
Harris would be fine, head and shoulders above Pence. But she has never been very good on detailed plans. Not a requirement as VP. AdLib 31 minutes ago
I detest Reich for the same reason – excellent speaker, no substance! I’ve dealt with him directly, and he’s amazingly superficial. But he can give a speech like nobody’s business. You just come away with nothing. choicelady 31 minutes ago
Well, just disagree about Warren but we agree on so much else! And I’m 1000% on board with the Biden ticket no matter who it is. AdLib 30 minutes ago
You know Sheila Kuehl’s single payer is my litmus test. Harris is a lot closer to that standard than either Warren or Reich. They are too vague, too generalized, not substantive. So…no. choicelady 30 minutes ago
Agreed. Biden has a good team, too. I’m very impressed with the people he has on his various teams. NOT a single banker to be seen. Karen Bass heads the Economics group. I don’t know all the others, but she’s the cochair with…I forget. choicelady 28 minutes ago
Harris has been all over the map on healthcare, first she wasn’t for M4A then she was then she wasn’t. It’s okay though, nt an issue for me with regards to supporting the ticket. The poor Berners will be going ballistic though. AdLib 28 minutes ago
I really hope Biden not only announces his VP but also announces his main cabinet picks too. Contrasted with Trump and the maniacs he has in his cabinet, it could really excite voters and show how horrible Trump and his crew are. AdLib 26 minutes ago
She was actually changing based on details not generalizations. She moved well past “tax the rich” as her funding source. Warren never could explain how it would be financed, fell back on the “how dare you ask me when we don’t ask about paying for war” crap. Well WE DO ASK. We never get an answer. It’s not OK from the Dems. Harris has answsers. That matters. choicelady 26 minutes ago
Agreed – I do hope he ha a great Cabinet. But at this moment I see the nation willing to elect a president that takes Porky Pig as Sec’y of State just to get rid of Trump. choicelady 25 minutes ago
My genuine fear isn’t a civil war but a rise of Tim McVeighs. choicelady 25 minutes ago
CL – Because she was getting that criticism, Waren did indeed come out with a detailed plan on how she would pay for her plan. And I hope her Tax the Rich plan happens under Biden. The only way to claw back the trillions just given to them of our tax money under the excuse of COVID-19 and before that due to the tax cut for the wealthy, it would help in pursuit of economic justice. And tax ALL companies, especially the wealthiest! AdLib 23 minutes ago
Do you follow Liberal Librarian over at “The Establishment Bar”? He’s Cuban by birth but a non elite sort very pro Dem not wacko RW. He says he’s getting a gun just for those reasons. choicelady 23 minutes ago
I do agree on her TAX plan. That’s her strength. I don’t like what I read of her health care plan or her reaction to being asked about it. She’s temperamentally too vulnerable. She’d be super in Treasury, no doubt about it. choicelady 22 minutes ago
True, the public does want to vote Trump out but the more people Biden can surround himself with, the more positive enthusiasm he’ll generate in voters. Biden himself is a bit concerning to watch, he doesn’t look the strongest and isn’t inspirational. Why not harness the charisma of many others who will be in his cabinet? AdLib 22 minutes ago
“Establishment Bar?” He’s getting a gun for what reasons? AdLib 21 minutes ago
I find him VERY inspirational in this crisis. His listening sessions w Black leaders has been awesome. choicelady 21 minutes ago
Harris would be better as AG. The VP should be the one most ready to take over for Biden for a health issue or in the next election, when Biden will be way too old to run again. AdLib 20 minutes ago
The Establishment Bar is a very good blog, spin off of The People’s View. He lives in an ethnically diverse neighborhood in Inglewood, and he refuses to let the white supremacists stands unopposed if they come. That’s how scared people are of what Trump has wrought. choicelady 20 minutes ago
I think Harris would be a good AG. I’d love Holder to come back, and maybe Val Demmings would be good there. I don’t see Warren’s core strengths as broad enough nor her hyperventillating personality soothing and mature enough for Veep. choicelady 19 minutes ago
I completely understand that very grounded concern. When Trump loses, I could imagine him activating his followers to strike out. That would be pretty scary. Biden and state and city governments should be prepared for actual insurrection. Remember, whatever Trump accuses others of is what he’s done or wants to do. AdLib 18 minutes ago
Sacramento would become Ground Zero in the RW wars. After last weekend with the trashing of our city, WE seriously are looking at a gun. Never thought I would say that, but the homeless guys in our back yard are urging us to., They hear shit. I don’t like what they hear. choicelady 17 minutes ago
I don’t know, Warren seems far more in control of the issues than even Biden. And she is very good at reacting quickly to events. I haven’t seen Harris as that way. But again, I’m fine with her as VP. AdLib 16 minutes ago
They are giving us a stun gun. We’e ok until the National Guard leaves. Then…? choicelady 16 minutes ago
Warren pissed off too many POC with her heritage issues. When asked what Black women she could have in a Cabinet, she had no one. She isn’t that flexible when pushed. choicelady 15 minutes ago
I’ve thought about it but I don’t like guns and I’m not concerned about Trumpers invading our neighborhood. But I do have lots of softball bats and the girls have pepper spray. AdLib 15 minutes ago
Pepper spray is more reliable than a stun gun. AdLib 14 minutes ago
We are also thinking bats and spray are a LOT better than a gun. But the fact we’re THINKING OF IT is pretty creepy. choicelady 14 minutes ago
Warren polls better than Harris among black voters. AdLib 14 minutes ago
We have spray, we’re getting bats. Gun is way down the list but ON the list. choicelady 13 minutes ago
Ad – those polls have not held up. That was true once but not now. choicelady 13 minutes ago
A poll by Data For Progress found that Warren is far and away the most popular choice among Sanders supporters, who gave her a 61% favorability rating compared to 42% for Harris, 33% for Klobuchar, 26% for Abrams and 25% for Whitmer. https://www.forbes.com/sites/andrewsolender/2020/04/28/polls-show-democratic-voters-favor-warren-for-vice-president/#69232f892d41 AdLib 12 minutes ago
Oh I know she’s popular w Sanders folks. But will they even vote? I don’t trust them. choicelady 11 minutes ago
TOPLINE Among the women believed to be leading candidates for Joe Biden’s running mate, Sen. Elizabeth Warren is the most popular with Democratic voters, according to several polls, as Sen. Kamala Harris, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and former Georgia State Rep. Stacey Abrams vie for the slot. AdLib 11 minutes ago
All true – but Warren would be taken by Black women as a sell out. THAT is the core constituency always. Give Black women whom they want. choicelady 10 minutes ago
That may be true for many. And I’m fine with having Harris as VP for that reason. AdLib 9 minutes ago
Klobuchar has a bad track record in MN as the prosecutor. She did not vigorously protect the Black community from bad police. choicelady 9 minutes ago
Whitmer rocks, but she has said over and over she’s happy where she is. choicelady 9 minutes ago
You and I were against Klobuchar in the primary and as VP, we’re agreed on that and history has now proven us correct. AdLib 9 minutes ago
Plus, same problem with Whitmer as with Warren, she’s not black. AdLib 8 minutes ago
I really like Klobuchar, but… She made a lot of critical mistakes in her career. choicelady 8 minutes ago
She’s fine as a Senator. Too conservative/moderate for my taste as a national pol but fine where she is. AdLib 7 minutes ago
Warren also can’t get past her decades of support for the very people and policies that got us Trump. She lingered FAR too long in the GOP. She makes too many people really wary of her. choicelady 7 minutes ago
HArris has THE most progressive voting record in the Senate (one other ahead of her, I forget who), way ahead of Bernie. choicelady 7 minutes ago
Hillary was a Goldwater Girl, no one held that against her. AdLib 7 minutes ago
Ad – EVERYONE held that against Hillary from the Bern side!!! choicelady 6 minutes ago
I’ve seen that. I wonder if that’s because Bernie voted pro-gun so much? AdLib 6 minutes ago
She was a Goldwater Girl at 16, was for Gene McCarthy at 18. choicelady 6 minutes ago
He voted pro gun, pro war, pro Wall street, anti immigrant, indifferent to racism – he sucks when you look at his record. choicelady 5 minutes ago
Yes but the majority of voters who mattered didn’t hold it against her. So either that’s wrong to see it as an issue when someone has changed parties or it’s not, part of an evolution that we accept. AdLib 5 minutes ago
Yes – voters didn’t hold that against her, but Warren was in her forties when she left the GOP. That’s a HUGE problem for her. choicelady 5 minutes ago
But…I thoought Bernie was the radical Progressive? You know, the pro-gun, pro-war, anti-immigrant Progressives! AdLib 4 minutes ago
I also am not convinced she’s actually all that progressive on many non economic issues. choicelady 4 minutes ago
LOL!!! Well, when you put Bern’s record THAT way…
choicelady 4 minutes ago
Nope, the polls don’t agree with that. Warren is the most popular choice i multiple polls to be VP. But due to the murder and protests, going with a black woman makes more political sense. AdLib 3 minutes ago
I think she’s walked the walk, the CFPB has been an enormus win for Americans under Obama and will be under Biden and onward. AdLib 2 minutes ago
Well, my dear friend – I’ve been up since 4 am to get to a 6 am assembly at the Capitol on “prayers for peace” and am fading out. The assenmbly was far too pro police for me, and I won’t go back. But it also made clear I don’t bounce back as I once did. So I bed you good night and hope to be back next Friday. choicelady a minute ago
enormous AdLib a minute ago
I BID you … choicelady a minute ago
Get some rest! You do so much and so much good at that! AdLib a minute ago
You, too. Love all around. You know whom I mean. choicelady a few seconds ago
Night!!! choicelady a few seconds ago
Yep, lots of love back at you and hubby! AdLib a few seconds ago
