A lot of smnaller but notable events this week, Cawthorn is being buried by the GOP, the Grand Jury has ended with that corrupt DA in Manhattan but one is being formed in GA against Trump’s election tampering, Musk is suffering blowback and doubts he can go through with buying Twitter and DeSantis has been softly spanked by the financial world saying FL’s credit rating will be hammered if he doesn’t find a solution for the debt Disney owed that FL will owe now. I am sad to read that CL is still coping with that surgery. i do not know if I knew of TW’s dad’s passing. I am dealing with the pending death of a friend, 67, who was experiencing digestive problems…but turned out to be cancer of three organs in his abdomen. No therapy was given even a marginal chance of providing a road to a cure (or at least coping)…..I have been at his bedside every other day for a couple of hours. Wearing but the real heroes are his wife and kids. Home based hospice. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago

But he and the GOP majority in the Legislature have painted themselves in a corner with the attack on Disney, the financial entities that rate bonds for states say that unless they figure out the Disney debt that FL now owes, they will drop their ratings which will be a huge financial blow to the state. Murph – I’ve learned a lot about free speech and town squares in my decade plus running The Planet and while they had the best of intentions, it’s not really viable to have such an idealistic view of providing a forum for discussion. Freedom is always exploited by those with bad intent, whether it’s Russia trying to destroy our democracy or MAGA terrorists trying to destroy all who aren’t. For there to be a space for reasonable people to chat and debate, there must be boundaries that are enforced or you end up destroyed by the hateful ones out there, as these unfortunate people found out the hard way. Honestly, Putin has been rattling the nuclear sword since the beginning and it just doesn’t scare the rest of the world as much now. Maybe he’ll defy all reason and launch a limited nuke of some kind but he knows that will be the last straw for the world and he and Russia must be obliterated after that.
