Vox Populi, our weekly live chat about the week’s events begins tonight at 7:00pm PDT. Hope to see you then! AdLib a day ago
So do you talk about the Texibans or the SCREWOTUS to start? AdLib 21 hours ago
Hey PPO! AdLib 21 hours ago
Hi, Ad! pinkpantheroz 21 hours ago
How are you two doing this week? AdLib 21 hours ago
Not badly, thanks. Got my monthly eye injection wed. Still locked down, probably for another few weeks pinkpantheroz 21 hours ago
Are COVID infections declining now? AdLib 21 hours ago
I see a judge has blocked the Texas abortion of an abortion ban. pinkpantheroz 21 hours ago
Ad, unfortunately, no. Due to NSW stupidity and negligence, infections in Victoria are rising. pinkpantheroz 21 hours ago
As for the US, we have officially lost the SCOTUS to a religious sect, our Constitutional rights and women are once again chattel. AdLib 21 hours ago
So it could be longer than 3 weeks? AdLib 21 hours ago
They have changes the recommendation for the AstraZenika jab interval from 12 to 6 weeks. we have to think about that pinkpantheroz 21 hours ago
Ad, yes, perhaps now to the end of the year. pinkpantheroz 21 hours ago
Hey Murph! AdLib 21 hours ago
Hi, Murph! pinkpantheroz 21 hours ago
How are you, Murph after the hurricane? pinkpantheroz 21 hours ago
I think the 6 weeks may be more effective but you have to stay safe in the meantime. AdLib 21 hours ago
Ad, yes, of course, we’re not changing from being hermits! pinkpantheroz 21 hours ago
Hello PPO….not touched by the Hurricane at all….except as we are all touched by it….another testimony to the climate hemorrhage MurphTheSurf3 21 hours ago
for sure, Murph. Any climate denier is in the same bubble as the GOP pinkpantheroz 21 hours ago
We got a taste of the remnants of the hurricane, in Boston but NY and NJ got slammed. AdLib 21 hours ago
Did I share with you all about the anti-vaxxer Trumpista guy who died of COVID, denying it to the last, and was buried in a Trump flag draped coffin with a large black breath emblazoned in red, white and blue with the words “He died making American Great Again”? MurphTheSurf3 21 hours ago
Yes, ad, saw that. what a terrible way to die in a subway pinkpantheroz 21 hours ago
Murph – The Trump Cult will indeed go to their grave ignorant of how their cult leader and the media and leaders they trust have sacrificed them happily to retain power. AdLib 21 hours ago
His coffin was driven to the cemetery in a truck festooned with Trump flags…..shortly after it was reported that his wife was hospitalized and then she too passed away. Others in his crowd have now been shown to be COVID positive. His death appears to be a super spreader event. MurphTheSurf3 21 hours ago
The power of confirmation bias…..a core tool in the propagandist kit. MurphTheSurf3 21 hours ago
PPO – There was video you may have seen of water rushing in a huge geyser in a subway station. Half of the subways were still closed yesterday. AdLib 21 hours ago
God, Murph, how can you penetrate that armour of ignorance? we have a fugitive in Sydney who is on the run from being forced into quarantine. His father has just died. There are idiots everywhere. pinkpantheroz 21 hours ago
PPO…..ignorance is not bliss, it is a blight. MurphTheSurf3 21 hours ago
True, Murph, true. pinkpantheroz 21 hours ago
Murph – I am not happy to say it but these lemmings are willingly jumping off the cliff, it is hard to feel sympathy for such people who have abandoned all reason and humanity. Will this be a worse nation with these types eliminating themselves? AdLib 21 hours ago
Ad…the medical folks have certainly grown harder in this….esp. in re. to their own. MurphTheSurf3 21 hours ago
I can’t get over the idiocy of Sports Leagues who value the almighty dollar over life and want to open stadiums to millions of fans. pinkpantheroz 21 hours ago
PPO…many of the leagues here are taking a very hard approach to their players but not their fans. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
Murph, I am in disbelief that trained medical staff are fighting getting vaccinations pinkpantheroz 20 hours ago
Murph, they are contractually obliged to take care of the health of their sla… er athletes. pinkpantheroz 20 hours ago
I actually have come to view the propositions of a mass psychosis event occurring. The unrelenting brainwashing and propaganda has seemed to left a big portion of the populations of many countries as such deranged people. AdLib 20 hours ago
CL? pinkpantheroz 20 hours ago
PPO….it is true…..the result is that increasingly medical systems are requiring proof of vaccination, masks and regular tests….no IFs, no ANDs, no BUYS MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
Murph – I am so with them. I think so highly of caring nurses and doctors who are being wrenched through each long day of work, seeing people running headlong into disease and death and forcing them to care from them, even as some of them spit on nurses, scream at them and blame conspiracies. AdLib 20 hours ago
Ad, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if medicos are already being selective as to who gets the respirators. Vaxxed OK, unvaxxed….. maybe pinkpantheroz 20 hours ago
Ad….mass psychoses…we have seen this before in the ultra movements of the past – the rise of hitler is often mentioned but I point the power of the KKK in the 1920’s in the U.S. and its link to Jim Crowism as something in our backyard. The red scare of the 1950’s is another. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
It really has come down to excluding the anti-vaxxers/maskers from society and hospitals, either they are shut out and die on their own or they will take all the responsible vaccinated people and healthcare workers with them. AdLib 20 hours ago
PPO….medical systems have been quite direct….triage procedure requires treatment of those most likely to benefit from it when resources are being pressed. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
Ad…considers the medicos who have lost homes in the hurricane who are still reporting for duty. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
Wow, Murph. Above and beyond. Big respect for them pinkpantheroz 20 hours ago
Murph – Yes and unfortunately, this apparent mass psychoses is global. Climate Change is killing and harming so many, COVID and coming mutations and viruses along with widespread poverty and the 1% impoverishing the 99%, along with autocratic leaders promising to solve all the people’s problems by assaulting minorities and women, we have widespread madness that has taken hold. AdLib 20 hours ago
From Scott Dworkin: ”QAnon Shaman’ just pled guilty to a felony for obstructing the Electoral College proceedings. He faces up to 20 years in prison and up to $250K fine.” pinkpantheroz 20 hours ago
I have season tickets to the St. Louis Symphony….those coming to concernts must be masked at all times, show their vaccination cards with an ID and maintain social distance…or accept a refund for their ticket. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
Murph – The triage mentality should also be modified to de-prioritize those who self-harm when it comes to COVID. AdLib 20 hours ago
That sounds sensible and doable, Murph. What I’d give to go to a concert now. pinkpantheroz 20 hours ago
Vaccinated people should always have the priority to medical care, even if it means taking an unvaccinated person out of a bed or off of a ventilator. They should stay at the bottom of the list because they intentionally infected themselves and other innocent people including vaccinated people. I know it sounds harsh but it seems just to me. AdLib 20 hours ago
Ad …. your description of our global psychoses is breathtaking….as in suffocating. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
Is this not insane????? https://twitter.com/i/status/1433916233599143944
pinkpantheroz 20 hours ago
PPO – I read the QAnon Shaman was getting between 4-5 years. AdLib 20 hours ago
Ad, Good. Not a slap on the wrist and probation. Good solid jailtime and his career kaput! pinkpantheroz 20 hours ago
Virginia tech….is that recent? MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
Murph – That’s great. I do think though that the Biden Admin should include in the reconciliation budget, money for providing secure vaccination cards and checking apps to prevent those who bought phony cards from infecting others and attending such events. AdLib 20 hours ago
Posted 4 hours ago according to Twitter pinkpantheroz 20 hours ago
The vaccinated certainly are being admitted to advanced care ahead of the unvaccinated but I think that downgrading care of one patient for another is a major ethical violation…..so the idea has appeal but its application creates other huge issues. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
PPO …. G ood G awd! MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
ad…I have said the same thing about verification security. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
Murph – There is precedent for times that seem out of control to cause a segment of the population to go mad like this. It’s kind of like end of the world to such people and all they have to desperately hang onto is the propaganda designed to turn them into mindless followers. AdLib 20 hours ago
Guy tweeted: ‘I’m literally 3 mins from Lane Stadium. I can HEAR the announcements. We are so screwed. ” pinkpantheroz 20 hours ago
PPO – Yes, I think 4-5 years is strong enough considering it is only one charge of disrupting government functions. Those who vandalized The Capitol and committed assault on the officers need to go away for at least 20 years. AdLib 20 hours ago
Ad…the very idea that anyone can accept the idea that the attack on the capitol resulted in massive persecution of those who were the attackers demonstrate how deep the madness is. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
Murph – I know there are ethical issues about pulling a current patient from care to serve another patient and I appreciate it. But it hardly seems just to me that those intentionally getting infected and infected others should cause a vaccinated person to be denied care and die because of it. Which has already been happening. AdLib 20 hours ago
Ad, I don’t think there will be any further attempts to storm the Capitol. The cops will shoot. The National Guard will shoot. The reason for civil disruption, ie, the election, is long past. But the former Guy needs to be locked up. pinkpantheroz 20 hours ago
I know of several people who are planning on going to DC for the Sept 18 protest….AND two of them are obviously hoping to provoke a response from the “police” that will support their message that the real issue is the abuse of the rights of their lawful protest. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
PPO…and there are those who want that to happen. Martyrdom has an appeal for a small but strident crowd. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
Ad, don’t forget there are people with emergencies other than Covid who need beds, ERs, ICUs and respirators Heat attackes strokes auto accidents etc. pinkpantheroz 20 hours ago
Murph – The minds of those following the GOP are broken. People like pedophile Gaetz and molester Cawthorn can declare literally any fabricated thing and the cultists just lap it up. Calling those who killed and assaulted Capitol Police “political prisoners” is so obscene and such an enormous lie, but the cultists are addicted to the hate and victimhood. AdLib 20 hours ago
Murph, Oblige them! pinkpantheroz 20 hours ago
Ad….I hear ya….when a decision such as you describe results in less care for those who need it and deserve it one’s sense of outrage skyrockets. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
Well, I’d better go. PLease enjoy a safe Long Weekend and don’t get into trouble. pinkpantheroz 20 hours ago
Ad…and that brokenness is being protected and institutionalized in legislation at the state levels, in actions by SCOTUS and in willingness of some members of the Senate to allow the filibuster to block reform. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
Murph – 9/!8 is actually an opportunity for law enforcement to blunt this terrorist movement. If they do anything illegal and of course anything violent, the insurrectionists need to be treated as or more harshly than the innocent George Floyd protesters were across the country and especially in DC. The hammer needs to come down, you will be gassed, repulsed aggressively and arrested and imprisoned if you engage in this behavior. AdLib 20 hours ago
SO long….PPO…I too am exiting shortly…big day tomorrow. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
Ad….such a response will play into the hands of those who are claiming that THEY are fighting for liberty against authoritarian big goverment led by mad liberals. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
PPO – Yes, just wrote a similar comment and law enforcement must be strong against these insurrectionists. But I do think, as the DoJ/FBI does, that we will see more violence and insurrection from them. This needs to be crushed and hard. Each attempt by them needs to be crushed hard until the message gets through that they will never succeed and only suffer themselves. AdLib 20 hours ago
Ad…any thoughts on the Tx abortion law and the role that scotus has played in this. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
PPO – Yes, I’ve read too many stories of people who have died from non-COVID emergencies because these horrible anti-vaxxers filled up ICU beds. AdLib 20 hours ago
Side note….I had a friend who was involved in “environmental safety measures” for the Little League World Series…….goes to show what can be done if there is the will to do it. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
Murph – This is a confrontation that needs to occur. There is no way to gently convince insurrectionists out of attacking their government. The movement has thrived partially because they have been treated with kid gloves by law enforcement. They are wailing about the arrests of the 1/6 insurrectionists because that’s not supposed to happen to racist white nationalists. I don’t want to see guerilla warfare become the next step because these monsters think they can get away with anything. Yes, there will continue to be lone wolves but many of the insurrection tourists will be scared out of joining in. AdLib 20 hours ago
I hear your perspective in this but as one who is a place where many are speaking of this in not-so-hushed tones, I think that highly strategic action should be taken……going after leadership, making it difficult for masses to assemble, containing movement in such a way that drama is replaced by useless movement, and when action is taken is separates out crowd segments with quick apprehension, binding and removal. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
Remember when I first brought up the idea of expanding the SCOTUS to 13 and it may have seemed like an ideal but unlikely thing? I think it may become the central issue in 2024 to stop the fascist snowballing that is ending democracy in states like TX and FL, ending women’s rights over their own bodies in many red states and other attempts to turn the US into an entrenched dictatorship. The SCOTUS is now a fraud and I expect a movement, including an announced upcoming march, to attack the SCOTUS as part of a theocratic dictatorship that no longer protects civil rights or respects legal precedents. AdLib 20 hours ago
SCOTUS is just the most obvious example at how fundamentally undemocratic our constitutional structure really is. I have long held the belief that its structure is largely a disguise to hide the role that elites institutionalized for themelves. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
Murph – Would you agree though that the hands-off treatment by law enforcement against insurrectionists has emboldened them and helped mainstream them more? That perception needs to be ended. And in the era of social media, I don’t think removing leaders or preventing some public protests advocating violence and overthrow would stop much at all. Think about who the real leaders of this movement are, the whole GOP and their top donors. They will never be stopped from whipping up and financing an insurrection that they see handing them autocratic control of the US. AdLib 20 hours ago
What you say is so….but heavy handed policing will give them footage so precious that they will gladly “sacrifice” foot soldiers. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
Murph – I can see how some can legitimately see our constitutional structure as more of a façade of democracy that permits elite power. Many arguments including Electoral College and The Senate makeup can be seen as evidence. And the political appointment of a “supreme” court that can dominate the lives of a nation is a massive mistake or gimmick. That must be reformed. 13 SCOTUS judges, appointed by a non-partisan board of legal and social experts. AdLib 20 hours ago
Murph – “Heavy handed policing”? I just want fair handed policing. White nutjobs and even killers are treated like they deserve protected treatment. That must end. Did you see the tear gas, swinging batons or even arrests on 1/6? AdLib 20 hours ago
I have long regarded, and taught, that the “Founders” and “Framers” as representative of the power elites of their day designed a republic that kept their positions safely protected from the mob and from the hereditary elites. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
By law enforcement, that is. AdLib 20 hours ago
I would agree with that. AdLib 20 hours ago
Ad….1/6 is done…..9/18 is a new event and how it will be seen is pivotal to how 1/6 is perceived in the long run. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
They were an elite that seemed to want to integrate public involvement in government but with protections for the elite from what they viewed as “mob rule”. AdLib 20 hours ago
As you well know, it used to be that only landowners and white men could vote. To be frank, didn’t The Founders at the very least allow for the picking of the electorate to protect the elites in power? AdLib 20 hours ago
Ad…I accept the notion of public involvement/investment in government as long as the “better sort” had the last word. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
In my understanding of the Constitution….power largely resided in the Senate with the Executive as its agency for national governance as required by events. MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
Agreed, this is why it is more important now that any response to 9/18 makes clear that peaceful protest should always be protected, even by the most repugnant but any law breaking or violence must be harshly punished. AdLib 20 hours ago
And with an Electoral College preventing a popular vote from electing the President, and many Senators unelected but appointed by those in power, this aided in protecting the elites. AdLib 20 hours ago
I would say “judiciously” dealt with and neutralized with effective, and non-dramatic methods of apprehension and removal removal from the public eye with judicial action to follow. All done with a level of decorum that denies the right easy packaging of the “revolutionary left” MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
Before I go….thoughts on the Texas anti-abortion law? MurphTheSurf3 20 hours ago
I have seen some people say that Repubs gearing up for 2022 are actually concerned that the Texas anti-abortion law could backfire and send women out to the polls in huge numbers to vote them out in TX and FL. What do you think? AdLib 20 hours ago
Ad…I hope that in that and in other areas the GOP with its less than prudent, less than strategic, zealots leading the charge will so overstep that there will be an awakening. MurphTheSurf3 19 hours ago
I think this SCOTUS decision is the most dangerous in our lifetime. It says a couple of things, first, states can violate any and all Constitutional rights and that creating vigilante mobs to attack the civil rights of others is sanctioned. Imagine where this could lead, to some horrific things. AdLib 19 hours ago
I don’t know right now but if Manchin and Sinema think they can just offer meaningless words while protecting the Repubs in their campaign to dominate the majority, women, PoC, the 99%…they better expect a lot of trouble and anger coming their way. AdLib 19 hours ago
I fully agree…..from at least two of the Trump appointed justices are using their positions to restructure the balance of power. MurphTheSurf3 19 hours ago
All of these political attacks on Americans could be easily solved if Dems weren’t sabotaged by the bought-off Dems and the filibuster was killed. AdLib 19 hours ago
Ad…..I think Manchin is a bought man….and that Sinema is a GOP Trojan Hourse. MurphTheSurf3 19 hours ago
And if the filibuster is killed the Senate and House will move to protect the democracy- so for the GOP this is also life and death. MurphTheSurf3 19 hours ago
They have both betrayed their party and the majority of Americans. I think it may be wise for the public, Repubs of conscience and Dems and indies, to all turn on both of them and demand action on killing the filibuster to save the US from going down the drain. AdLib 19 hours ago
Abortion, immigration, gun control, voting rights,, etc. could all be solved quickly with the end of the filibuster. There is no sensible argument left for keeping the filibuster. AdLib 19 hours ago
But will that happen….I fear not….and on that sad note I need to retire….there is a meeting of the association members tomorrow meeting to meet a challenge from the co-op remnant whose only mission seems to be to keep us from prospering. MurphTheSurf3 19 hours ago
There is a sensible argument if you are GOP…..it is how we get to keep power now and long into the future…this is the crucible moment. MurphTheSurf3 19 hours ago
I’m afraid it won’t either. I worry for our future, in just the next two and four years. Good luck, hope your association comes up with a solid gameplan. AdLib 19 hours ago
Yep, sensible only to power grabs. AdLib 19 hours ago
Okay pal, sleep well! See you next week! AdLib 19 hours ago
There are moments in a body politics’ history that challenge its very nature…we are there now (and have been before) but I fear that this time we will not emerge with our integrity intact. MurphTheSurf3 19 hours ago
Good night,my friend. MurphTheSurf3 19 hours ago
