Vox Populi, our weekly live chat about the week’s events begins tonight at 7:00pm PDT. Hope to see you then! AdLib 2 hours ago
Hey TW! AdLib 2 hours ago

Hey AdLib how are you? twilson117 2 hours ago
Doing okay. How are things in MA? AdLib an hour ago

Well looks like we got a lot to talk about tonight. twilson117 an hour ago
No kidding! What a remarkable week! AdLib an hour ago

Beautiful day here in MA twilson117 an hour ago
I really can’t believe how swiftly the Juneteenth national holiday happened! AdLib an hour ago

Nor can I. Amazing they can do that but anything else, well it’s like they can’t find their sock draw twilson117 an hour ago
At the same time Repubs are howling about Critical Race Theory, this will educate all the school kids about true history of America no matter how they try to whitewash (intended) ir. AdLib an hour ago

I know CRT is their new boogie man. Most don’t know what it is not to mention it’s not taught in k-12. I’m doing some research on it to get a better understanding on so I can write about it. twilson117 an hour ago

Let me say this about it, some of the papers I’ve read along with a book I’m currently reading, it’s not going to be easy. There is a reason it’s more on the college level. twilson117 an hour ago
hi ad, TW pinkpantheroz an hour ago

Hello PPO twilson117 an hour ago
Exactly! It is such an obvious new racist boogie man, taking the place of immigration now since that’s not as potent anymore. No one’s teaching the racist history of the U.S. in elementary school. And private schools can teach whatever they want. As you say, this is more aimed at college, maybe some HS. AdLib an hour ago
Hey PPO! AdLib an hour ago
Brilliant week for POTUS. Putin’s got the Shitz! pinkpantheroz an hour ago

AdLib I don’t don’t know if it would be taught in HS, but it’s clearly not at the lower grades. twilson117 an hour ago
PPO – Biden makes Putin step back, the ACA is safe hopefully for good, Juneteenth is a national holiday before you can blink and Trump’s treason in using the DoJ against his enemies is exposed. And Joe Manchin is kicked in the teeth by McConnell on “bipartisanship” and protecting the filibuster. Not a bad week. AdLib an hour ago
TW – Yes, I would think that some private high schools might at least teach more about Tulsa, Juneteenth, 3/5ths compromise, etc. in trying to present a more honest picture of the mixed history of the US and racism. But definitely likely in college. AdLib an hour ago

Ad, so when Trump** gets arrested who puts the cuffs on, the sheriff or his SS detail? twilson117 an hour ago

Ad well when I was in HS I learned about that, but we are talking about the dawn of the century. twilson117 an hour ago
Ad, wouldn’t they then have to admit to all the broken treaties, massacres and ethnic cleansing doe to the First Tribes. A bridge maybe too far. But maybe it would clear the nation’s throat to discuss much more and admit errors. pinkpantheroz an hour ago
TW – Wouldn’t it be amazing if DoJ agents who worked alongside the corrupt ones Trump tried to use to destroy his enemies, took him down? But since the state charges are more likely to come first or Manhattan’s, I would guess NYPD might take him in? AdLib an hour ago
TW – Yep, we had to learn by the light of whale oil lanterns! AdLib an hour ago
Ad, I’m beginning to wonder about the loyalty of a lot of SS personnel. Is it to the former guy or to the Office? pinkpantheroz an hour ago

Ad you had oil lanterns? Wow.

twilson117 an hour ago
PPO – The thing is, it’s not about demonizing the U.S., it’s about representing it’s darker truths that have been buried in racist and nationalist propaganda from the beginning. It doesn’t deny the truly remarkable things that the U.S. and leaders have accomplished as well. AdLib an hour ago

Murph is in the house. twilson117 an hour ago
Murph! Hi there. How are thimngs at the coop? pinkpantheroz an hour ago

Hey Murph twilson117 an hour ago
Hey Murph! AdLib an hour ago
PPO – I think the whole Oath Keeper thing put it right out in the open that law enforcement and military across the board, not in huge numbers though, were a part of an authoritarian movement for some time. AdLib an hour ago
Shakespeare had it bang on about nation building (although in a different context) ‘Nothing begins or nothing ends that is not paid in moan. for we are born in other’s pain and perish in our own.’ pinkpantheroz an hour ago

The military and all police forces need to do some deep investigation and house cleaning. twilson117 an hour ago
Hi….took a few minutes to read through the conversation so far… MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
How high does the rot go. tw? Can we trust them to police themselves? pinkpantheroz an hour ago

PPO okay I’ll bite which play from William? twilson117 an hour ago
TW – Whale oil lanterns were totally underrated. I miss them and horse and buggies. AdLib an hour ago
Haven’t a clue, Ad! Lines I learned in School. pinkpantheroz an hour ago

PPO okay now I’m going to have look it up.

twilson117 an hour ago
not willum! Francis Thompson pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Critical race theory (CRT) is an academic movement of civil-rights scholars and activists in the United States who seek to critically examine the law as it intersects with issues of race and to challenge mainstream liberal approaches to racial justice and aggressively take on conservative efforts to thwart efforts to honestly present the power of racism in American society and to challenge this on a number of fronts.. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago

Ad Horse and buggies Oil lanterns, damn man, for me it was until the sun went down.

twilson117 an hour ago
Yeah, that’s what your typical middle and high schooler is learning in their social studies and history classes….sure……a convenient boogeyman for GOP and its base. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago

Ad next you’re going to tell my you had a mattress to sleep on.

twilson117 an hour ago
PPO – That is a hard, sad truth. Life is suffering but there is happiness in it as well. But there’s no avoiding the suffering except in bad romantic comedies. AdLib an hour ago
Sheer Luxureh! We lived in shoe box int’ middle oft’ road! pinkpantheroz an hour ago

Ad you were living high on the hog

twilson117 an hour ago
PPO…..as to the co-op….in limbo for now…..I won’t work my butt off until this identity crisis has been faced head on. So….I am making sure that my work is being done and not much else. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Murph – And how about Trump’s failed racist re-writing of history he commissioned before losing office? Countering actual history with racist propaganda, that’s the GOP way. AdLib an hour ago
Yes, Murph. Best not to expend energy of any sort on it until clarification. pinkpantheroz an hour ago
TW – When I was in high school, the sun was smaller and daylight only lasted three hours. AdLib an hour ago
Ad and TW….I walked to and from school barefoot in the snow all year. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Ad, I sound like a broken record (vinyl !), but is there no way to muzzle McConnell? pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Ad….yes….I brought that up with a school board member who said she was thankful that her present wanted to “set the record straight.” MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago

Ad you got to see the sun? twilson117 an hour ago
PPO…anything else with the Co-op would be enabling behavior….. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago

Murph you must of been in Syracuse

twilson117 an hour ago
Murph – That’s all they have left now. No longer do Repubs have issues or platforms, all they have left is spitballing boogie men and hoping one sticks so they can use it to take power in the next election. They are intellectually bankrupt like Trump…who will be financially bankrupt soon too. AdLib an hour ago
Ad….when your platform is- “Seize power and hold it.” life is simple. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
TW – A mattress? You had it easy! We had to sleep on the horns of the goats we milked when we woke up at 3:00am, to keep them from running away. AdLib an hour ago
TW……it was those late spring blizzards and the icebergs that were particularly daunting. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Ad, I must look around Melbourne to find a Black Church, for the day I join them to sing ‘O Happy Days’ when the other guy goes down at last pinkpantheroz an hour ago
PPO…what percent of the Australian population is “black” and what does “black” mean there ethnically and in terms of origin. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago

Ad you had goats clearly living high off the land.

twilson117 an hour ago
PPO – You lucky bastard! You had a shoe box? We had to live on the edge of a crumbling cliff and if we didn’t wake up to move back in time, we’d plunge hundreds of feet to our death. AdLib an hour ago

Murph yes winters in good old Syracuse were something to behold.

twilson117 an hour ago
Murph – Walking barefoot to school? You had it easy! We had to wrap cactus around the bottom of our feet and hop to school. AdLib an hour ago
OK…I surrender to the wit of Ad and TW re. trials and tribulations in their mythical childhoods. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
PPO – The only way to shut down McConnell is for Manchin to get so humiliated, he agrees to changing the filibuster so McConnell is neutered. And I think many people would pay to see that. AdLib an hour ago
Murph, maybe 10% are aborigine or black immigrants. I love the Gospel music . pinkpantheroz an hour ago
PPO…thanks for the info. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Ad, well, we had until your fucking goats ate it! pinkpantheroz an hour ago
Murph – I think there are teachers all around the country, even in red states, who care about truth enough to want to teach the true history of the U.S. to their students. AdLib an hour ago
As….teachers are SO monitored these days that most live in fear. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
Ad, the main problem with history is that the winners get to write it. Much of the less palatable stuff will never be revealed, just like around the rest of the occupied world. pinkpantheroz an hour ago
TW – We saw the sun every day, a photo of it was on the wall next to the whale oil lanterns. But all the thick smoke from coal burning in our classrooms to provide enough heat to keep us from freezing to death blocked out the sun from view. In the 3 hours it was up, we could never tell the difference. AdLib an hour ago

PPO as to Mr. Manchin I wonder if he’s going to finally wake up and realize McConnell do not want any form bipartisanship. It’s their way of the damn highway. twilson117 an hour ago
PPO – That day is not as far off as it may seem. The calls now for Trump to be federally prosecuted for abuse of power and corruption are growing while the criminal cases in NY, GA, DC, etc. are building. Trump will be indicted of crimes, I think it is inevitable. And we all know the evidence exists to prove him guilty. AdLib an hour ago
McConnell is the epitome of the Dr. NO. policy. I have never wished anything bad on anyone, even tfg, but I do with mcconnell. pinkpantheroz an hour ago
TW – However, the goats we owned ate all of our food and clothes every day. We would have to wear the live goats as clothes and drink their milk when we went to school. AdLib an hour ago

PPO there needs to be an investigation of McConnell I feel confident there is a lot and I mean lot of dirt they will find on him. twilson117 an hour ago
Ad- the Boston Globe’s analysis of the necessity of such prosecution of Trump in order to send a message into the future to any grifter who is considering conning his way into the White House. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago

Ad those damn goats, will do you in every time. twilson117 an hour ago
TW…McConnell is dirty but it is legal dirt….the House and Senate have neutered reform legislation. MurphTheSurf3 an hour ago
PPO – The winners do write history but so does the majority. Think of all the history books written by individuals along the way that glorified the U.S. and minimized the terrible acts all along the way. Look at how Native Americans were basically the victims of a genocide as their land was stolen from them while they were hunted and murdered. And yet we have the pleasant images of Americans “taming the wilderness”. AdLib an hour ago

Murph then they should look into his wife, there was clearly something funny stuff going on while she was in office. twilson117 an hour ago

Murph wasn’t she Sec of Commerce? twilson117 an hour ago
Agree, TW she doesn’t pass the smell test. pinkpantheroz an hour ago
TW – If Manchin wants to be drowned in growing protests against him choosing a phony bipartisanship over voting rights for people of color while McConnell and the Repubs hold him up for ridicule as an utter fool, that would be an interesting political choice by Manchin. And one that only an idiot and a fool would choose. Manchin should be told, his reputation in history will either be as the loser who prevented our democracy from continuing or the hero who helped save it. Not a hard choice. AdLib an hour ago
TW…..agree. During her tenure as Transportation Secretary in the Trump administration, the Transportation Department’s inspector general found numerous instances where Chao used her office to promote her family’s shipping business. MurphTheSurf3 44 minutes ago
