This week we saw the last of the women candidates for the Democratic nomination for president, drop out of the race. It is hard to say that Joe Biden or Bernie Sanders are intellectually or temperamentally superior to all four women. In fact, it seems that male candidates are given far more leeway than women candidates who must be letter-perfect to even have the possibility of competing. It isn’t the fault of the male candidates but of a society that still perceives women candidates as innately weaker than men.
To celebrate the talented women who worked so hard to overcome the unfair and unrealistic requirements put upon them just to compete with men, this weekend’s music thread is dedicated to women, songs about and by women.
