Hey Harleigh! FLL madness, eh?
AdLiban hour ago
FL that is.
AdLiban hour ago
Fires all over out here in Cali.
AdLiban hour ago
It still aint over… from 2000, now this shit for senate and gubner!!! holy shit and senema in AZ… wow
Harleigh
Hey PPO!
AdLiban hour ago
Harleigh – Sinema’s ahead now and looks more likely to win. The recounts could make for a happier ending in FL than 2000 for Dems.
AdLiban hour ago
Law mandates recounts in both florida races.
Harleigh
They just have to finish the first count, of the mailed in and provisional ballots but I think they’ll keep swinging towards the Dems.
AdLiban hour ago
yep…. esp Broward and Palm Beach
Harleigh
This really was a Blue Wave, biggest House gains since 1974…Watergate times!
AdLiban hour ago
I’m in Broward.
Harleigh
Did you vote on Election Day?
AdLiban hour ago
I have voted by mail for years.
Harleigh
Hi all! Congrats on the – not Tsunami – rather a King Tide of victories! Well Done
pinkpantheroz
Your vote should already be counted unless you mailed it on Election Day, right? Or are you holding up everything???
AdLiban hour ago
Has Papayapuss exploded yet? I hear he got off the plane in France and picked a blue with The French Pres.!
pinkpantheroz
PPO – I don’t know, winning up to 40 seats in The House, 7 Repub Gov seats and over 300 seats in local government? I think it was a tsunami. Dems only lost in Red or Lean Red states.
AdLiban hour ago
I’m finding that the votes are counted at the polls and then the mail ballots and provisionals and overseas….
Harleigh
Trump est un grand idiot!
AdLiban hour ago
Ad, agree, but a gradual swell rather than a big surf
pinkpantheroz
i think they said 20% was mail ballots this year.
Harleigh
Ad, …. and to think he adored the French Military Parade! Utter eejit!
pinkpantheroz
PPO – I see it as an indisputable Blue Wave. Losing by only 3% in TX? Runoffs in FL and GA? Hasn’t happened like this before for Dems.
AdLiban hour ago
Harleigh – That’s a big amount, many may have been mailed on election day, those are being counted now.
AdLiban hour ago
Here’s hoping the recounts ‘find’ any missing boxes, packets, other votes. Strange the GOP doesn’t want to count votes. What’s that about, as if we don’t know!
pinkpantheroz
PPO – Trump does wear a large orange croissant on his head, he feels at home.
AdLiban hour ago
Had to have been recieved by the time polls closed I think.
Harleigh
AdLiban hour ago
lol
Harleigh
HAHAHAHAHAHA
pinkpantheroz
Received or postmarked by Election Day?
AdLiban hour ago
recieved.
Harleigh
What does Trump say when he brings prostitutes up to his suite in Paris? “Oui oui!”
AdLiban hour ago
Evenin’ gents. How is everyone tonight? Or this afternoon?
glenn
Hey Murph! Sorry about Claire but Dems won the House and had many big wins.
AdLiban hour ago
Hey glenn!
AdLiban hour ago
hey, glenn, murph
Harleigh
Glenn, good afternoon sat here! Are you happy?
pinkpantheroz
Murph!
pinkpantheroz
glenn – I took the losses of our Red State Dems kind of hard on Tuesday but after all the subsequent win-after-win by Dems in undecided races, I’m feeling very good about our Blue Wave!
AdLiban hour ago
Ad–here comes my cynicism again. You were right about the House, and that’s a wonderful win. I really worry about the Senate, though, with so many judgeships open. I can’t help it. But all those governorships and legislatures in addition to the House is a really good start!
glenn
Blue Wave smothers Red Tide, hopefully in Fla as well
pinkpantheroz
PPO–I’m happy about the House, the governorships, and legislatures that we flipped. I’m worried about the Senate.
glenn
Murph–how are you doing tonight?
glenn
Yes, glenn, . Well, the Senate Thugs now have to make nice, because it is their turn in 2020, and they know it right now. I bet some start reversing course with Trump enthusiasm diminishing
pinkpantheroz
PPO–plus it’s still not settled here in GA as to who will be governor, no matter how many times Kemp says he won. Wonder how he knows that before all votes are counted?
glenn
wife yelling about bball games!!! guess I’ll go fall aslep watching game. later taters
Harleigh
glenn – We should always stay concerned and focused on the Repubs’ power and corruption even after such a big win but I think our democracy was saved on Tuesday night. As for The Senate, they will win less seats than they should have. I think Sinema will win in AZ, Dems took away a Senate seat in NV, that makes up for the two they took from us.
AdLiban hour ago
Hello gang….one exhausted campaigner here so I do not know how long I will last.
MurphTheSurf3
OK, Harleigh
pinkpantheroz
kemp gets recounted too
Harleigh
Night Harleigh. Take care
glenn
Hey Murph–I’m sure you are exhausted!
glenn
Just glad you made it, Murph. Dems kicked butt on Tuesday! Huge margin win in The House! Trump is running scared, terrified!
AdLiban hour ago
Kemp’s sticky fingers are no longer around the votes, so they may get a less-shonky result.
pinkpantheroz
PPO–Not too sure about the Senate thugs “playing nice”. I think they’ll just double down because they know their time is limited.
glenn
Which is why I’m hoping big time that a runoff is held in GA, without Kemp’s slimy hands on the election process…not that his replacement will be any less racist and suppressive but he/she will be under a harsh national spotlight.
AdLiban hour ago
Ad–no doubt that our democracy was saved. So, what is the actual count in the Senate now? Is it the same as it was before the election?
glenn
maybe, glenn, maybe. But we’re all suffeing fatigue just now, so we can simply bask in the victories
pinkpantheroz
Claire’s loss was awful…..she devoted a lot of time to the rural counties to appeal to those for whom Trump policy has been a disaster and she got little for it. Worse, elements of her hard core base, angry that she was not courting them properly, sat it out. The black community really let the campaign down. Sorry, just the bitter truth.
MurphTheSurf3
Ouch, Murph. That must hurt.
pinkpantheroz
Ad–Yeah, hopefully, we can get a runoff. And hopefully, Dems turn out in numbers greater even than the midterms, because now we know what we’re up against.
glenn
PPO….it did……one quote from a black leader tells the tale: “If she wants our votes, come and get them.”
MurphTheSurf3
glenn – As of right now, they still have only 51 Senators. I think Sinema wins AZ for Dems, have no idea what will happen with Nelson or the MS runoff. So at most, Repubs would have 54. Not 60 like Dems had with Obama in 2008. And in 2020, Reubs have 22 seats at stake, Dems only have 11 and if they win the WH too as I think they will, they only need to hold theirs and win back 4 out of 22.
AdLiban hour ago
Sad, that. So many people – on BOTH sides – shooting themselves in the foot, and for what? Stiff necked pride and entrenched beliefs.
pinkpantheroz
Murph–don’t know what to say about Claire’s loss; it was devastating. It’s a double-edged sword that Dems don’t vote in lock step. On the one hand, sometimes that pushback results in good changes. But the other side is that good people like Claire lose their seats because Dems just don’t pull the “D” lever automatically.
glenn
Murph – Politics is brutal strategically. She was looking good in the polls and tried to build on her numbers with Trump voters. I think we can say now that they should be left to their devices, Dems need to appeal to women, minorities and young voters and build up their turnout. Worked in KS!
AdLiban hour ago
Glenn…..it is a pretty simple decision…..which candidate is most likely to be for us, and which candidate is most like to be against us. Forced choice. Not voting is also a choice.
MurphTheSurf3
Ad–I would love it if the Senate majority stays the same. I think it will be a high hurdle with 54. As PPO says, maybe some of them are tired of the lying bully’s antics, and will vote accordingly. See, I’m being optimistic!
glenn
glenn – I think a runoff in GA will be a national circus, Dems and Repubs will throw all they have into it. I have no idea how it will go but if the SoS doesn’t surpress the vote, Dems could have the chance to win.
AdLiban hour ago
Ad….Claire wanted to be part of a restart for Dems in the collar and rural counties……and had her core done its job then she would have remained in place to work at that…..I told one of our staff that we always get what we vote for and the black community has voted for someone who hates them. Bad move.
MurphTheSurf3
Unfortunately, Murph, some just don’t get it.
pinkpantheroz
I think it is a lesson, Dems shouldn’t chase after Trump voters, just focus on their Dem and Indie base.
AdLiban hour ago
Yep….but they will howl like hell……when they are squeezed.
MurphTheSurf3
Ad….one of the things that Claire found most disturbing was the Balkanization of American political life.
MurphTheSurf3
Murph–was the turnout low in MO? Again, the black voters have finally found their voice (or maybe they have found their voice again), and they are making pols work for their votes. Not saying it’s a good or a bad thing; just recognizing what is happening. I think sometimes Dems forget the simple decision as you say. They want to make sure they are heard; and in doing so, cut off their noses to spite their faces, as my grandmother used to say.
glenn
Just now in Twitter with video: Caught On Video: Concerned citizen sees ballots being transported in private vehicles & transferred to rented truck on Election night. This violates all chain of custody requirements for paper ballots. Were the ballots destroyed & replaced by set of fake ballots? Investigate now!
pinkpantheroz
Broward County!!!
pinkpantheroz
Murph – It’s terrible that we had to lose some solid Dem Senators, Trump’s insanity though motivated red state followers but energized blue and purple state voters against him. In the end, he and Repubs lose if he does the same in 2020 and Dems will take over unified power. But it costs us some good people.
AdLiban hour ago
Glenn, turnout was up….most up among GOP….but up by Dems. The black community lagged AND here is the kicker mid campaign efforts speared by Claire to register new voters in that community worked wonders….but did they vote? We have the overall numbers and one wonders.
MurphTheSurf3
Ad–for sure if there’s a runoff, it will be a national circus, even more so than the election was. Kemp and the repubs will continue to try to suppress votes, and lie about Abrams’ record, and throw racist mud wherever they can.
glenn
Ad. I agree.
MurphTheSurf3
glenn – The likelihood is that Repubs won’t have more than 53 seats when all is said and done, maybe only 52. But picking up 4 out of 22 seats in an election where Trump has made the GOP radioactive in Blue and Purple states? We will do it, another Blue Wave but this time, not in a year when the deck is so stacked against Dems.
AdLiban hour ago
Murph–so did the black community actually vote for Claire’s opponent? That is a shocker!
glenn
Glenn…no they did not….enough sat it out to deprive the campaign of sorely needed votes. I know of a number who “wanted to send a message.”
MurphTheSurf3
Ad–However many seats repubs have in the Senate, it’s going to be an interesting two years coming up. I am so encouraged by the number of women, Latinas, and even Native Americans who won offices across the nation. The House is going to look more and more like the real America, not just white men’s America.
glenn
Murph – It was a reasonable strategy by Claire but in hindsight, it seems clear that those rural white voters are too hardened against Dems to be turned. Look how well Beto did in a Red state when not chasing after Trump voters. He was at a bigger disadvantage and did far better.
AdLiban hour ago
Murph–I only hope they are happy with the “message” they sent. One would think that they would have learned from the lying bully’s election that sitting out to “send a message” is definitely sending the wrong message. Unfortunately, the rest of us have to live with their “message” too.
glenn
Ad…perhaps…..frankly Claire fought very hard for a number of those rural areas…keeping hospitals alive, getting infrastructure repairs that were essential, heading up efforts to direct federal employment dollars their way. And she did town halls everywhere. Hard worker.
MurphTheSurf3
Murph – I understand but in such a time of Balkanization, I think the most pragmatc strategy is to invest in rallying your most likely voters and then while in power, paying attention and consideration to those Repub voters. Soften them up and show them they matter when you’re not looking for votes and bringing them help, then come to them in the next election. I think she got too ahead of herself.
AdLiban hour ago
Glenn….I have seen a number of black leaders here, esp. the church based ones, decide to use their time better than in efforts to activate the black vote here.
MurphTheSurf3
Ad…that softening up is what Claire did a lot of……she is practical but also principled.
MurphTheSurf3
glenn – No doubt, it will be a very ugly, racist runoff in GA but if it happens, Abrams can still win it. And I would think there would be far more critical attention on voter suppression.
AdLiban hour ago
Ad and Murph–I think every Dem should take note of how Beto conducted his campaign. He stayed on HIS message, and refused to be baited by either cruz or the lying bully. I saw a clip from Samantha Bee’s show where she interviewed some of cruz’s voters. One women was complaining about Beto’s nickname, and how she thought it was fake. The interviewer then told her that cruz’s real name was Rafael Theodore Cruz, and she said, “well, perhaps his parents called him ted during childhood and it stuck.” DUH! You can’t really fix stupidity!
glenn
glenn….that is so….Stupid and Zealous…..
MurphTheSurf3
Ad, this time in GA, maybe they will have enough working machines and enough ballots and booths to do the job. It will be interesting to see
pinkpantheroz
Glenn….as to Beto…..yes he has real charm, wit, and sense. Liked his approach.
MurphTheSurf3
Murph–I guess it’s going to be a slow process to get people to understand that their votes count, if only they would use them.
glenn
Murph – One thing I hate about Indie and Dem voters is when they don’t vote or vote 3rd Party to “send a message”. The message they send is, “You win Donald Trump!” or some abhorent Repub. It only gets worse, they’re like little bratty kids.
AdLib43 minutes ago
Ad, in a runoff, are third party candidtes alloed as well, or just the two giggies?
pinkpantheroz
Well…I wanted to stop by….but I am falling asleep here….So one we go. Ad, your Message Message is spot on….bratty kids. Yes, glenn…so, so, so, slow……good night to PPO as well.
MurphTheSurf3
biggies! sorry, brain faster than fingers
pinkpantheroz
Murph–yes, it is stupid and zealous, and that’s how cruz won. Hard core republicans weren’t listening to Beto’s message of unity; they were only listening to cruz’s trivialities about nicknames and of course, his hate for all things liberal.
glenn
glenn – The stats are mindblowing. Over 100 women now in The House! Native Americans, Muslims, Latino, black, like America really is! Of course, only Dems could have a multi-ethnic and female wave. Repubs can’t even have women on their committees.
AdLib41 minutes ago
goodnight, Murph. Congrats to you for all your work.
pinkpantheroz
Wishing you all well…..peace.
MurphTheSurf3
Ad, I’m going to head off to the shops. Well, Done, all Blue voters! Perdition to Orange felons!
pinkpantheroz
ciao glenn
pinkpantheroz
PPO–Yeah, how hard is it to get the machines working when you know exactly when the date of the election is? If anything showed what Kemp and his minions were trying to do, all those non-working –no power cords and not enough machines in heavily Dem/African American districts–nothing else will. That was so blatant, it makes my blood boil. Yet, no one is holding Kemp accountable.
glenn
Murph – I’m sure Claire worked hard for the Trump voters to make their lives better too but breaking through the cement in their heads is a nearly impossibe task. It could have worked, had she won, she would have proven me wrong. But you know, I’ve said many times here, forget about getting Trump Cultists to vote Dem, outnumber them and win despite of them. And across the country, that’s what most Dems did.
AdLib39 minutes ago
‘Night, Murph. Get some well-deserved rest.
glenn
PPO – Just the top two candidates in a runoff.
AdLib38 minutes ago
PPO–That is a good point, though, about the third-party candidate, because I think the one here in GA did take votes away from Abrams.
glenn
glenn – Enjoyed sharing Election Night with you. We watched Dems pull off a Blue Wave but almost missed it because it wasn’t a tsunami. But we got what we needed most, The House and many Governorships in swing states. Imagine if everyone else won but we didn’t win The House. With Trump’s firing of Sessions? He would become even more dictitorial with no one to stop him. The end of Trump is nearer!
AdLib36 minutes ago
I know it’s early, but Ad, do you think Beto will be convinced to run for president in 2020? Do you think he should?
glenn
I sure hope so, I think Beto will run. This is his moment, if he sits out 2020 and that Dem gets two terms, he will have lost his window to run and win. He’s smart, he should know that.
AdLib34 minutes ago
Ad–I enjoyed election night, too. I agree; the more I see of the results finally coming in; the more I’m encouraged by Dem wins in other places besides the House. The governorships and legislatures are almost as important, maybe even more, with gerrymandering and state judges on the line.
glenn
Beto should take this year as a win, doing so well, and move on to run for president. If he runs in TX again and loses even by a fraction, I think he’s done.
AdLib33 minutes ago
Ad–yeah, I’d like to see him run, too. I think he could excite the Dem electorate almost as much as Obama did.
glenn
Our optimism was well placed. The energy was there, the track record of special elections validated it, what happened was what should have happened. We just learned from Tuesday that due to gerrymandering and voter suppression and ignorance and fear, Red states are very hard to win in but not impossible if the Dem base is expanded and whipped up.
AdLib31 minutes ago
As I’ve been saying for a few years now, Dems need to get their ground game together. Abrams did a great job of registering voters with her New Georgia Project. We need a nationwide New America project to register more voters, especially minorities and young people. And BTW, wasn’t it great to see the surge of young people voting?
glenn
Repubs may have won Senate seats in Red states but Dems are the only ones to win big seats in the other party’s states. FL and GA are not blue states, FL is a lean Red state really. And AZ and KS are Red states but we already won the Gov seat in KS against a Trumper and looks like we’ll win a Red seat in AZ. Maybe we can win in FL and GA too.
AdLib28 minutes ago
Perhaps if Abrams doesn’t win the GA governorship, she should be persuaded to run a nationwide project to register voters. She would be awesome at it.
glenn
Abrams did an incredible job. I liked your idea of her running for SoS, assuring fair elections in GA and turning it Blue THEN running for Gov when she can win fair and square!
AdLib27 minutes ago
I agree; it is looking good. Winning a red seat in a red state is not difficult; it’s flipping them that are, and Dems did do a good job of that in many places. We just have to keep the wave rolling!
glenn
Exactly! And we can flip a few Senate seats out of 22 in 2020 to take back the Senate. Then, with the House and WH, we can get a lot of great things done and Trumpism reversed and wiped out!
AdLib25 minutes ago
Yeah, that would work for Abrams, too. I think she ran a campaign much like Beto’s where she focused on her message. However, she had to get off script many times to talk about Kemp’s suppression, but whenever she did, she also talked about how she won the court case against him for suppressing votes. I think she is awesome!
glenn
I’ll bet the world is breathing a sigh of relief, to see Dems taking back over in a Blue Wave, checking Trump’s power and reflecting a likelier loss by Trump in 2020.
AdLib25 minutes ago
Don’t think we’ll ever wipe out trumpism, but we sure can put them back under their rocks and stop giving them normalcy.
glenn
Absolutley, she ran a spectacular campaign and the situation now proves it. And she had to do so with her opponent controlling the election!!!
AdLib24 minutes ago
Yeah, I think the world was watching, too. Macron now has to put up with the lying bully for the weekend.
glenn
Well, we won’t be able to wipe out Trumpism in his cult members but they will become marginalized if Dems take over. And all his Executive Orders will be wiped out, which is most of the damage he’s done. And his tax cuts killed.
AdLib22 minutes ago
Macron has to be secretly gloating, knowing Trump got an electoral slap in the face from Americans.
AdLib22 minutes ago
Ad, always great chatting with you. You help me put things in perspective. Time for me to sign off now. Won’t be here next week because I’ll be in AZ visiting friends. Take care.
glenn
