JOn Stewart recently said that watching Trump’s campaign was as much fun as eating ice cream on a roller coaster made of blow jobs! HA!

Yes, I do. I think I’ve heard that before and just couldn’t remember.

You’re like that paperclip Ad: “It looks like you are trying to download a picture”
funksands

I respect someone going out at the top of their game to pursue other passions. It’s got to be an utterly exhausting gig. I’ve listened to interviews with people on the show and they say that Stewart basically works 13-14 hour days working on everything on the show top to bottom
funksands
KT – saw that, so funny. Imagine how hard it is for him not to spend every show on Trump.
AdLib 7 days ago
well Ad, he’s doing pretty well, all things considered.

I guess you guys saw the Wyatt Cenac flap. I can understand Wyatt’s feelings, but I think he is really being a bit thin skinned. Stewart does impressions of just about any ethnicity, including his own.

I like that Trump has threatened 3rd party on Repubs, they were organizing to get him out, now what?
AdLib 7 days ago
Maybe The Donald can be the GOP version of Ralph Nader.

Vote Hillary. Vote Trump.

Maddow had a great piece on what Perot’s candidacy really meant for the election results. Good stuff. Her staff is really impressive

Maddow may be all that is left over at MSNBC in the liberal purge that seems to be underway there.

I have a wait and see attitude toward Hillary. I’d love to see Sanders get the nod, but I do worry about people misunderstanding the real brand of socialism that Sanders promotes. It could be a deal breaker with many dems. I hope I’m wrong.

No chance. Scarborough is locked in for years

Sab, I like that. Clean and neat

Yes, his new show will be called, “MSNBC’s Chuck You!”

Aren’t we all hungry for more Chuck Todd? He’s just so addictive.
AdLib 7 days ago
Ad….MSNBC ratings have been of for a long while and the fix appears to be to make it more like an NBC secondary…thus Williams and Todd and a hard news focus

OK Sabreen, don’t say hi, see if I care!
KillgoreTrout

Murph. – Because every show is redundant except Maddow. They all cover the same few stories with no depth. Boring.

I read that MSNBC has hired the black Republican Amy whats-her-face. I wouldn’t her even if she weren’t Republican. Talk about arrogant.
Sabreen60

That said, I won’t miss Ed Schulz’s show. I like the guy, I like his politics, but his show is terrible. The Cycle is awful and Alex Wagner is just dull. Good people a victim of poor programming and production

No, they didn’t Ad. At the time, any citizen of Japan over the age of 14 was expected to fight any imminent invasion. Even women and old people. I’m sure they didn’t want that role. It was the Bushido warrior’s code that really made Japan suffer needlessly.

I’m all for mandatory voting if it can bring about those kinds of numbers.
AdLib 7 days ago
KT…..Ad….best estimates were that the cost of an invasion of the Japanese Home Islands would have been half a million U.S. casualties…the Japanese had a lot of troops in reserve AND the Soviets were waiting to pounce if given an opportunity. The A Bomb was meant to shock the Japanese government into surrender, given that the narrative claimed there were dozens of other weapons in reserve and that the Imperial City was next.
MurphTheSurf3
Ad….for the GOP Cuba and Iran are the same….both no-go zones no matter what.
MurphTheSurf3

I agree, to a point. We offered surrender terms more than once, but Japan refused, every time. I know we wanted Stalin to see the power nukes had, and Stalin was eyeing Japan for their next conquest. I think the first bomb was needed. Not the second one. More people died in the fire bombing of Japanese cities than did those who died from a boms, even many years later. I think the second bomb was merely a cruel scientific experiment. was

MurphTheSurf3

I disagree Ad. Japan would not surrender, even after the first bomb wiped out an entire city. We should have stopped after the first and given Japan time to realize what we had done and could do again. As I said, the second bomb was just a cruel scientific experiment.
KillgoreTrout
Murph – I think that was a mistake. America hasn’t really considered what it meant to be the first nation to drom an atomic bomb on another country.
AdLib 7 days ago

Japan was not innocent. Not at all. Too bad that the ordinary citizens of that country had to suffer so much. That is the way it always goes, though.
KillgoreTrout
Murph – It’s kind of funny that the GOP has been pandering so hard to the simple minded, anti-government hatred, with Palin as one of their key stepping stones, that when they finally got their Tea Party type Billionaire to run, they want to stop him so they can nominate another establishment Repub who will pander to them again but not deliver what they want.
AdLib 7 days ago
KT, that’s my point. even after the atrocities perpetrated, the US still worked with Germany and Japan and forged new alliances. Why not Iran?
pinkpantheroz
I would like to think that the GOP is on it’s last legs, but ideology is a very hard thing to overcome.
KillgoreTrout

The Tea Party were meant to be political cannon fodder – thus the sponsorship by the Kochs as organized by Freedom Works – but they have never quite marched in synch so the funding went away but the cancer had been sown and has spread. It is now at the root of much of their base and provides the glue holding it in place.
MurphTheSurf3
KT – For me, the issue is applying mass guilt, making all people of a country guilty of the sins of a minority and justifying killing any of them. Again, for me, it’s the kind of justification ISIS and Al Qaeda use, that all Americans deserve to be killed.
AdLib 7 days ago
I agree PPO. Iran has not really been all that vicious towards us. Yeah, the hostages and all that, but that pales in comparison to Germany and Japan.
KillgoreTrout

Murph – This is the same thing that happened with the previous iteration of the Tea Party, The Moral Majority. They too were patronized and manipulated as hicks but they too grew tired of being treated that way and eventually became the tail wagging the dog. Which led to the crash of the GOP and the Moral Majority. When they finally win, it destroys both of them. If the Tea Party finally get “their” candidate as the Presidential candidate from the GOP and he loses massively, both will again be destroyed for years, repeating history.

Sure Ad, it’s war. But when you have mandatory minimum sentencing for non-violent drug offenses, which are totally draconian, a for profit prison system, combined with decades old racism, you get what we see every day. It’s absolutely fucked up and not anywhere close to what our founders intended.
KillgoreTrout

Murph – Do you think Repubs genuinely want to go to war against Iran or is it just cynical pandering to their base and a way to stick a thumb in Obama’s eye after achieving a peace treaty. How would we pay for such a massive war? Do they really think the public is more scared of Iran than ISIS, neither of which really threatens this nation.
AdLib 7 days ago
nope PPO. Fire and brimstone, and all that, cha know!

Ad, ISIS is a danger just by radicalizing US youth to do terrorist acts. That’s colose enough to home for me.

If a toddler picks up a gun, the gun still isn’t bad…it’s dangerous though in the minds of reasonable people. But to win their argument, they have to say that “liberals” think guns are “bad”.

Sad, isn’t it Murph. I believe that people should have a right to keep a gun IN THE HOUSE, for protection, and for hunting, but who needs a fricken weapon that can fire 700 rounds per minute? PPO – That is an example of an amoral kid who’s probably seen too many action movies and video games and though it was “cool”.

KT – Exactly! These RWs acutally boast about what pussies they are, how scared they are of the outside world. Why don’t their fellow non-cowardly Repubs call them on being the pussies that they are? “I never go anywhere without two guns.” “Then you are a frightened pussy?”

Ad, I think you have hit the core of today’s problems – Amoral people hiding behind theocratical rantings to justify evil actions

Don’t fogert un abashed greed PPO. People who stock pile can foods, dry goods, water, and guns and ammo, for the coming apocalypse. They need the guns and ammo to keep needy people away. That way, they don’t have to SHARE. You know, like Jeebus wants them to.

Murph – Yep, I swore off debating RWs because you can’t win a point on an issue, it uusually comes down to them lying and throwing around insults. like trying to debate angry chihuahuas. No point.

PPO – Maybe so. There are so many voices now that justify amorality, from the Kochs to the Kardashians, from Miley Cyrus to Donald Trump, from Wall Street to the Supreme Court. And it’s a relief for some people to get under the amoral umbrella, they can justify doing terrible things.
