Hey folks, welcome to another Weekend Music Thread. There have been events in the last ten days or so that have generated some pretty strong emotions among us. In an effort to help salve those strong feelings, I thought it would be kind of cool for us to pick themes of our own.
Pick a theme that addresses your thoughts, emotions and hopes for the future, or go with whatever songs that make you feel better and forget, for a short while, the troubles of our times. Any song will fit well this weekend.
The main point as always, is have some fun while posting your favorites. 😎
It’s been a tough couple of weeks for most of us, but when I begin feeling a bit too “tight”, I put on the following lil piece with beautiful lyrics and singing so smooth that it can only be done by one Sarah Vaughan. Give it a try…
…and if that doesn’t work, then there is always “The Puppy Song”
by Harry Nilsson 🙂
I’m a big Nilsson fan too.
Kilgore, I’m beginning to think you’re a brother from another mother. 🙂
Not sure you ever saw it, but back in the early 70’s Nilsson did a cartoon for TV called “The Point”. It was about a boy and his little dog “Arrow”. Anyway, this song always made me think of this cartoon even though it was evidently written a couple of years earlier by request of Paul McCartney. Nilsson was a great friend of the Beatles which some of my friends found hard to believe…
It’s a great little flick if you can find it (I think that Netflix DVD stocks it).
Yeah, I’ve seen it. I love the premise of the film. “You got have a point..to have a point!” Poor little round headed Oblio! So misunderstood! 😉
Yeah, the Beatles were big fans of Harry. There is a great rockumentary about Harry.
Thanks, I haven’t seen this one in awhile. I think I must have dug up almost everything this man wrote, sung or that was written about him. I had an incredible library of his works that has mysteriously disappeared this last year or so.
My problem was that I taught our dog to use the CD player…big mistake!
Here’s the infamous “Coconut” song that his old manager was talking about. Great little song!
…and then the clip of Robin Williams in your post just makes me sad all over again. I used to see him perform while he was still at Julliard. He would go around Manhattan performing as a mime for those of us waiting in line for a movie. LOL talk about a captive audience!
Love Sarah Vaughan. One of my favorite jazz singers.
Everyone have a great week ahead:

This one is dedicated to the folks in Ohio who can’t drink their tap water.
Where in Ohio is this happening?
From this morning’s MB.

Thanks Kalima! That’s kes’ stomping grounds, I believe. This sounds like a precautionary measure. That’s a good thing.
She’s ok, KT. Not home until Tuesday, by which time there should be emergency water supplies.
That’s good to know.
Near Lake Erie.
Thanks Nirek.
