• AdLib : (Google waves as it crawls)
  • pinkpantheroz : Good night, Google as well

  • AdLib : Night ppo! Look forward to seeing you then!

  • pinkpantheroz : Night Ad, Fergie, Murph. You betcha I’ll be there next week, Insh’ Allah!

  • AdLib : Night Murph!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : I am gone as well.

  • AdLib : Seeya Fergie! Guess it’s time to wrap Vox for tonight then. Thanks Murph and PPO for helping to make it a fantastic Vox tonight (the server burp aside). See you here next Friday night!

  • Fergie1 : Oh, My 92 year old cousin is on the phone from Delaware! WWII Vet – lieutenant under Patton in North Africa and a real darling! Gotta go. Sorry. All best wishes to you all.

  • AdLib : Fergie – When Obama invents a cure for cancer and nuclear fusion that will power the world for pennies, it’s a sure thing Fox will get him impeached for running a red light in his Presidential limo.

  • Fergie1 : Hi Murph! Yes, wish I’d been here too. I’m in outrage mode re this issue of guns. There’s not too much I have good to say about Australia, but the buy back program here has produced good results.

  • AdLib : Oh glenn! I think she’s having some computer issues, I saw her name on Vox last week and this week and then she’s not writing comments. I will email her and see if I can help.

  • Fergie1 : Ad, I’m waiting for Fox and Co. to criticize Obama for chew gum and talking with two attractive dignitaries!!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad Lib…Glenn!

  • pinkpantheroz : Ad, kudos for staying up so late! I do forget that it’s very late anywhere other than the West Coast.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Hello Fergie, good to see you….wish you had been here earlier- there was gun-fire in the air.

  • AdLib : ppo – Actually, Murph mentioned that, they always ignore the meaningful stories that show Obama in a decent light to hype up hatred and phony “scandals”.

  • Fergie1 : I’m with you on that [re the gun issue] for next Friday.

  • pinkpantheroz : Hi, Fergie! Yes, I saw both as well and it was wonderful. Ad says that Fox didn’t show much at all.

  • AdLib : Fergie – There’s so much more to discuss on gun violence, we’ll pick up where we left off next Friday.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad Lib… now my brain has gone blank. From Georgia..lives in Cobb County, was a regular here….geez

  • Fergie1 : Hey Ad – you are too kind!

  • AdLib : Hey Fergie! Missed you earlier!

  • Fergie1 : Hi all you good people! Been trying to sign in but only just got through. Know I’m late to the party but at least wanted to say “Hi”and you’re all about to sign off! Oh well. See the topic of Gun regulation is HOT and so it should be. D-Day cermonies were wonderful – watched both on Omaha Beach and Sword Beach. Powerful. Obama was masterful and very well received.

  • AdLib : Murph – Sorry, I’m spacing, who are you referring to?

  • AdLib : ppo – I’m out here in CA and a late nighter. Maybe some of our new members who are night owls will join in and keep Vox going later next week. Still, two and a half hours ain’t shabby.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Well I am off…has anyone seen our gentlelady friend from Atlanta of late?

  • AdLib : Night Miles, have a great weekend!

  • MilesLong : Then I bid you all, good night and a good weekend ahead.

  • AdLib : Night CL! And when you’re back in town, any HOPE in your plans?

  • pinkpantheroz : Drat! I missed out a bit and now everyones headed for the sack. Great to see you here, miles and hope you’ve had a ball. Do tell the new Huffugees about this great feature.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Choice- glad you corrected that…I was reaching for Old Betsy

  • choicelady : ‘Night all – see you in probably two weeks!

  • AdLib : Miles – Sometimes Vox goes very late, just depends. Make it when you can, we’ll be here!

  • choicelady : PPO – Sorry – MURPH shot out the bullseye…

  • choicelady : PPO – Miles shot the bullseye that AdLib hung on the server is all. Nothing to worry about.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : PPO- we had server freeze.

  • AdLib : ppo – Yes, a little server hiccup, it’s fine now.

  • MilesLong : Thank you all…it looks like a really fun place to hang. I wish the radio show I do didn’t overlap…

  • AdLib : Same here, Miles, fantastic having you here tonight!

  • choicelady : AdLib – thanks. Some will. Some won’t. That’s called life.

  • pinkpantheroz : Ad, POV suddenly froze. Any problems?

  • choicelady : Miles – GREAT having you here!

  • AdLib : Sorry to hear that, CL. We’ll miss you, hope it goes as well as possible.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad I will wait until we close down

  • MilesLong : I will…and thanks for the kind words!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Miles- I really enjoyed your being with us tonight. You are what my Auntie for Charleston SC used to call “a sassy firecracker” Please come back again and again.

  • choicelady : Well folks, I, too must bid good night. I have a memorial service tomorrow then start travel Sunday right through next Saturday. You can imagine how I’m looking forward to this. Not. Great talking to everyone. I won’t be here next Friday but should be done with most travel for some time thereafter. Be well everyone!

  • MilesLong : Everyone calling it a night?

  • AdLib : Email me, Murph and I’ll get right back with you!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Well gang- it is late for me. Ad, I need a word with you. I need to make a decision tonight and you are part of it.

  • choicelady : Murph – Yes. I hope!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Choice- I have ammo in drum size container and will just keep on shooting until it hits your computer….just kidding…you hope.

  • choicelady : Well, a BARGAIN – who can pass up a bargain?

  • AdLib : CL – But…they were a bargain!

  • choicelady : AdLib – yeah, I’d think about that bullseye thingy…

  • AdLib : Guess I shouldn’t have put targets on our server.

  • choicelady : Good night Sabreen – lovely to see you! Have a great weekend.

  • choicelady : It seems fine now, AdLib. Just that one weird one.

  • AdLib : Same here, take care and have a great weekend, Sabreen!

  • AdLib : CL – Refresh your Vox page and it should all look back to normal!

  • choicelady : Murph – if you shoot YOUR computer, does it affect ours? A conundrum.

  • Sabreen60 : Time to say Good Night. Hope to see you next Friday or on the Twitter.

  • AdLib : CL – Nope, a little hiccup in the server, fixed now.

  • choicelady : Sorry about the avatar – I have NO idea why it now looks a mile high.

  • AdLib : Murph, sure shootin’!

  • choicelady : AdLib – you mean it WASN’T my computer? Whew? It’s not even a year old. That’s a relief!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : We are BACK….I was reaching for my six shooter cuz guns fix everything.

  • AdLib : Sorry folks, a little break in the action there!

  • Sabreen60 : I meant “Linked”. Here’s the article about “conservatives “. Of course there are counter-argument s. But I like this one! «link»

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Funk – happy anniversary of your birthing day

  • Sabreen60 : Someone liked to an article in Psychology Today that said Republicans are stupid (in so many words).

  • escribacat : I walked into an outdoor gear store a few months ago and saw another man walking in with a rifle. It was very odd. I thought, well, which is he, a guy getting his rifle cleaned or something or some wacko? I had to think about whether or not to go in. I did go in but waited a moment to listen for gunshots (I know what a coward). No gunshots so I went in. They were taking his gun at the front desk. You have to check your guns at this place, which of course sells lots of guns.

  • pinkpantheroz : Good night, Funk. take care.

  • pinkpantheroz : God, Murph, what does it say about today’s society if you have to carry for safety?

  • AdLib : CL – Good thing for us the NRA weasel here in CA is weaker than elsewhere. So wouldn’t reigning in outside campaign contributions solve so many things, even this?

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Funk- the best….I need a twitter tutor, bad….we will get to it.

  • choicelady : funk – Good night! Sweet dreams and hope you get some rest.

  • MilesLong : Nite, Funk…

  • escribacat : Night, funk. Happy birthday1!

  • funksands : Folks can’t stay long tonight. Tuckered out and need to get my kiddos to bed. Have a great weekend!!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Choice- in no small part because my views are known…

  • choicelady : Murph – yes, but not ammo.

  • AdLib : Funk – Either someone standing up or an even more horrible gun-related set of murders. This can’t keep growing exponentially worse without it eventually producing some event that’s just too horrible to turn away from.

  • choicelady : Murph – I am REALLY sorry you’ve personally had to do that. But I think you’re wise to do it.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Choice, but I bet the baby’s nappies were packing.

  • choicelady : escat – the hate couple had a baby. Yup. Scary. At least the baby didn’t have tattoos. Yet.

  • MilesLong : Went to heat something up to eat.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Sab…yep.

  • MilesLong : Yep…

  • choicelady : AdLib – the lobbyist for the NRA up here in Sacramento is a little taller than I (and you know that ain’t tall), paunchy, and stalks around the hearing room in cowboy boots, a string tie, and plaid shirt with jeans. He’s a total asshole. But he CAN bring money to campaigns – against people if not for them. But it’s less powerful in CA than in MO for sure.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Miles – are you still here?

  • Sabreen60 : Geez Murph.

  • AdLib : escrib – That description of gun nuts is as fascinating as it is scary.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Sab- I buy for coop, so I buy big. I have told the managers at five stores that the moment I see someone with an open gun in their store I abandon my cart and head for the door. I put it in writing to them and their corporate hq. PS. I have a concealed carry permit and I now use it because I fear the open carriers

  • escribacat : CL — not surprised. The sad thing was the shoe polish weirdo had a cute little boy with him abour 4 years old.

  • funksands : Ad, no we are not. It is just going to take someone with a lot of political courage to make it their mission for the next year or two

  • choicelady : Sabreen – I won’t go to Target here until they stop that shit there.

  • choicelady : escat – my husband and I were in a MEXICAN restaurant with a couple who were wearing shirts for Storm Front. She had a tattoo on her arm in HUGE letters: H A T E. They’d just come from the gun show. We stayed until they left because we were afraid for the staff who were all Latinos.

  • funksands : It’s going to take a lot more of the local response like in Murph’s story to change the tide.

  • Sabreen60 : Tweeters are calling out stores like Target for allowing gun nuts to come into the stores carrying long guns and/or strapped. Customers are afraid. I hope people start boycotting the stores that allow guns.

  • AdLib : Just from this conversation, it sounds like around half the people here (if not more) are gun owners and believe in laws to protect innocent people from gun violence. Over 70% of NRA members support background checks. It was only an NRA controlled Congress that stood in the way of laws 90% of Americans wanted. We are really not that far from doing this.

  • funksands : E-cat that verifies that gun nuts are just the world’s lamest and most dangerous cos-players

  • escribacat : And you could buy anything you wanted at this show, no checks.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Funk- what changed…the narrative about the government, about the 2nd Amendment, and about the inherent goodness of the gun culture…all fueled by fear, anger, and anxiety.

  • escribacat : I went to a big gun show in Denver once. Some seriously scary looking people there. One guy had apparently used shoe polish to paint hair on his bald head. Another one had plastic vampire teeth and some kind of weird inserts in his eyes and a sword across his back.

  • choicelady : Miles – we all agree. Fat chance.

  • choicelady : escat – I know I would. I have four or five REALLY good friends who are law enforcement. I love them all.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : CHoice….BINGO!

  • funksands : Murph, that’s how Missouri was in the 50’s. So what’s changed?

  • choicelady : Murph – we had a lot of regulation until the 1990s then the wingnuts feared Clinton and it was allllll over.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : NOW in Missouri there are no licenses, no permits, and virtually no limits.

  • escribacat : CL — except he’s gone deaf because of shooting guns!

  • funksands : Miles, that narrows it down :-)

  • Sabreen60 : Miles, It’s locked up. I’m not a responsible gun owner anymore. I use to clean it – years old. I probably should just get rid of it.

  • choicelady : Sabreen – naw, I agree. NOT a good idea.

  • escribacat : CL — you’d really like him. He’s a sweetie.

  • MilesLong : If I were an FBI Profiler (I’m damn close), and i studied the crime states for the 20th Century (I did), and I wanted to reduce mass gun violence (I do), I would keep guns out of the hands of white males between the age of 13 to 84.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : I have written this before. Here in Missouri for a very long time everyone had to be licensed to have a gun. And our guns were registered since when purchased they were sent to local police stations and pick up there where the police checked the permit and recorded the gun make, model and id number. NO ONE object to it unit the late 90’s and early 2000’s.

  • pinkpantheroz : Hi, Google! how dey hangin’?

  • choicelady : escat – I’d love to know him!

  • choicelady : funk – the sales person might not, but the other buyers might. I work in a racially diverse area with a LOT of tensions. We have RWNJs in the area.

  • funksands : Pink, until there is real shame in being a gun nut the behavior won’t change

  • Sabreen60 : Probably won’t CL. Doesn’t sound like a good idea.

  • escribacat : CL — my sister in law’s bro is a retired cop. He now works at a gun store. He’s extremely liberal!

  • funksands : Choice, money talks. They wouldn’t care at all

  • funksands : Miles the bayonete keeps getting in the way…

  • choicelady : Sabreen – I want to have the female functional equivalent of cojones and go to the “Guns Only” store near my office to buy something. When asked why tell them “to protect me and my home from RW extremists and religious zealots”. But I think I’d not get out alive.

  • pinkpantheroz : Funk, there are millions of gun owners who are diligent in their storage and use of weapons. No argument there. It’s, as already said, the fetishists and NRA stooges that ned reining in. but HOW????

  • MilesLong : You could clean it, S60! {grin}

  • funksands : “Child Safety Enhancement Bill”?

  • Sabreen60 : Miles, I’m a gun owner, too. Started going to the NRA facility in my 20’s. I haven’t been in years. In fact, the gun that I have would probably backfire and kill me.

  • MilesLong : Indeed…

  • choicelady : Miles – I knew he had seen the photos. I know he was shaken to his core.

  • funksands : Choice, good point

  • AdLib : ppo – Unless we lived in a totalitarian state, we couldn’t put an end to all gun violence. But it’s not an all or nothing proposition, this is about reducing the availability of guns (and ammo!) to those who may represent a danger to others. Look at how a young man was reported by his parents to be a threat yet had a right to use guns to murder innocent people. Deaths can absolutely be prevented, not all of them but many of them (including all those now being killed under SYG laws, take those away and the deaths drop way down).

  • MilesLong : President Obama saw the crime photos from Sandy Hook.

  • funksands : Pink that’s a good point. Words matter

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Miles…true and those numbers seem very effective in stopping all legislative action to date.

  • choicelady : Murph – we just don’t have that problem in CA though. But only locals can diss locals and sneer at them. It wouldn’t help if I did it in YOUR town.

  • escribacat : Sabreen, I read somewhere that Obama was really shook up about Sandy Hook. It truly was devastating.

  • MilesLong : Call it “Mass Murder Reduction?”

  • MurphTheSurf3 : S’Cat a real possibility if the GOP gets control of all of it.

  • funksands : There’s nothing wrong with being a gun owner. I was raised in a household that hunted for food. We learned how to hunt and use guns at a very very early age. There are two parties at fault here: 1) The gun fetishists and 2) THe front group for weapons manufacturers, the NRA

  • MilesLong : Murph: Their numbers are a drop in the bucket.

  • pinkpantheroz : Oops. Make it Gun SAFETY. Make it more palatable to the everyday reasonable owners.

  • escribacat : Murph — also, We must have armed civilians in case the government ever turns totalitarian.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Miles- I know a lot of NRA Moms

  • MurphTheSurf3 : CHoice…but it seems like it is only safe and effective when that happens in redland.

  • MilesLong : Murph: Not when all the Mothers in America demand no guns in school.

  • pinkpantheroz : Why not start with NOT using the perjoratve ‘Gun CONTROL’.

  • Sabreen60 : E’cat, I caught part of an interview that Jay Carney had with Charlie Rose on PBS. He said the lowest point in President Obama presidency so far is Sandy Hook. Jay say the President was really shook by it.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Miles- sorry but it will not trump this…”That shredded five year old died because his principal was not armed….shame on the government for making law that arms only bad people!”

  • choicelady : Murph – THAT is an amazing story and very hopeful!

  • funksands : Seattle was another example of how smaller clips save lives. That I think is the weak link in this battle. We can win on small clips

  • AdLib : Escrib – The thing is, no one’s going to take away the guns of law abiding gun owners. So those folks don’t need to be afraid of that (though it would hurt the NRA’s agenda). That’s not what gun control activists are fighting for so we need not worry about that.

  • MilesLong : I’ll admit I’m a gun owner. But I’m very highly trained.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : all- in a restaurant last week- Pasta House, real family fare on a Sunday afternoon, and three guys in camo walked in with their long guns on display, and holstered pistols. They wanted a table. NOW, I live in the middle of redneck Mo and I bet every adult there owned a gun or guns but…the catcalls and boos that went up in the room were stunning. One guy suggested they pull in a fresh kill and skin it right on a table so the cook could out the meat in a pasta dish. They left.

  • escribacat : Miles — I agree.

  • funksands : We have a depressed, cynical, disenfranchized, poor, medicated nation buried in an avalanche of guns. I’m surprised it doesnt’ happen every damn day

  • MilesLong : Just show those children shredded and torn up. That’s largely wheat ended the Vietnam War, finally being confronted with reality.

  • choicelady : Sabreen and Miles- that is one gun per person, but I believe about 60% of the nation is UNARMED. So…

  • funksands : 1 gun for every American

  • MilesLong : S60: That’s about right.

  • funksands : What it will take is someone from the moderate political community to throw themselves on the grenade and make it their mission to shame and change the attitude in this country towards sensible weapon restriction. I keep waiting to see who that will be.

  • Sabreen60 : AdLIb, I read somewhere there about 300 million guns in the US. I don’t know if that’s true. But it is, seems like the genie is out the bottle.

  • escribacat : Adlib, I thought for sure Sandy Hook would be the beginning of the end, but it wasn’t. Amazing.

  • pinkpantheroz : Ad, the problem is that, even if all the current laws were strictly adhered to and all checks done. there will still be those under the radar who will suddenly go apeshit and start blasting. I don’t know what possible solution there can be. But it is hurting the country, that’s for sure.

  • choicelady : Murph – 1% of all gun violence has ended at the hands of armed civilians. The myth of John Wayne drives the narrative for too many.

  • MilesLong : Dead 5 year-olds trump that bullshit, Murph.

  • escribacat : The kid who took down the shooter had pepper spray, I read.

  • AdLib : escrib – It seems inevitable that there will be an event even more shocking than Sandy Hook that is the last straw. Sandy Hook was such a horrible outrage but since Congress refused to act, something worse will eventually happen, maybe shootings by different people in different parts of the country on the same day. Then…I think the momentum will be unstoppable.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Miles- the answer to the photos would be: That horror could have been avoided if there had been responsible and well armed others in the building.

  • escribacat : Murph — I agree. I personally know a few of these types and I can tell you they will never give up their guns. They’d rather be dead.

  • funksands : Murph, I agree, the gun fetish is strong

  • escribacat : BUT, if there is a huge outcry about guns, the Ted Nugent crowd will go down fighting.

  • choicelady : AdLib – I do think there is a sea change coming. It’s not just guns but a number of prominent if not nationally so GOP speaking sense. The mayor in GA calling for Medicaid expansion and working with Moral Mondays; the insurance commissioner in Kansas doing the same as a GOP elected person. Not a lot yet but picking up steam. People are getting courage about speaking their minds. This is how change starts.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad- I think the love affair that so many of these goofs have with their long, long, hot, hot, guns is just too addicting.

  • MilesLong : The one thing that would change the narrative and get something done would be the release of the photos from the schoo; sad to say. But until everyone is confronted with that reality, nothing’s going to change.

  • escribacat : Adlib, This country elected a black man for president. I’d say ANYTHING is possible.

  • funksands : Tequila will do that….

  • funksands : Murph: :-(

  • Sabreen60 : No weights, Funk. Just spinning for now.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Funk…and I will not get one.

  • funksands : Reunion of Concerned Scientists? I made that one.

  • AdLib : escrib – But as more and more gun murders occur, do you think there could be a tipping point?

  • escribacat : Yes, we were talking about you earlier. SOmeone said you were missing from the reunion.

  • funksands : Murph, you’ve earned a nice quiet weekend

  • pinkpantheroz : Choice, Awww Gorshhhh. ( wriggles in seat)

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Hello Funk…wild week

  • escribacat : Adlib, I don’t think the Ted Nugents of this world will EVER give up their guns.

  • funksands : No fuss no muss

  • Sabreen60 : Good Night, AB.

  • choicelady : PPO – I guess I’m sorry you shared a birthday with Saddam, but it’s better for being YOURS.

  • funksands : Were y’all talking aboot me earlier?

  • MilesLong : Funk: Just had to stop by and see what all the fuss was about…

  • funksands : Hi Choice, Ad, Pink

  • AdLib : ppo – I was just writing the following to start a new topic: What do you think about the growing gun violence around the nation? Do you think there will finally be a wave of strong public sentiment that forces a change in gun laws or will we spiral down deeper into more and more gun violence?

  • pinkpantheroz : You’re all so lucky! My birthday’s the same as Saddam Hussein’s!

  • funksands : Sabreen, how are the weights treating you?

  • choicelady : funk – saw your Bible Gun comment on Twitter and agree: that is REALLY dangerous!

  • funksands : Hi Miles, great to see you!

  • Sabreen60 : Hi Funk!

  • funksands : E-cat wins a year’s subscription to “Deep-Fried Bible-Guns Daily”!!

  • choicelady : HAPPY BIRTHDAY, whoever it is…

  • AdLib : Funk – Really??? It’s Vanilla Ice’s birthday?

  • escribacat : Is it Funk’s birthday?

  • choicelady : PPO – I’m beyond disgusted with Seattle, Atlanta, all of it. It’s so damned scary. I had someone who was just like the Seattle shooter threaten me – a sovereign citizen, pot growing Dominionist. They’re everywhere.

  • AdLib : Hey Funk! Were your ears burning earlier?

  • MilesLong : Hey, Funk!

  • funksands : Guess who’s birthday it is today?? 1 guess only

  • pinkpantheroz : Hey there, funk! Welcome.

  • funksands : I think Atlanta already called dibs

  • MilesLong : PPO: All I can say is Welcome To America’s New Normal.

  • funksands : I’m an atrocity in Seattle, what do you want to know?

  • escribacat : Hi Funk!

  • choicelady : FUNK!!! So glad to see you!

  • funksands : Evening!

  • pinkpantheroz : Anyone interested in discussing the latest atrocity in Seattle? I think Vegas is now taking bets on where the next one is going to happen. This insanity must stop!

  • AlphaBitch : Bye!

  • AlphaBitch : MTS: Thank you for always doing the leg work and for keeping us posted from the heartland.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Goodnight AB

  • AlphaBitch : PPO: Purrrrrr……

  • AlphaBitch : Ad: Sweet dreams. thanks.

  • pinkpantheroz : G’night, AB Sleep well.

  • AlphaBitch : CL; Good to see you

  • AdLib : Night AB! Have a wonderful weekend!

  • AlphaBitch : Yeppes, Cat.

  • AlphaBitch : You too. See you around. Although these days my time here is scarce. I DO love the Planet and all in it! I need to re-donate and get some more MB mugs……

  • choicelady : Goodnight, AB – have a great weekend. How nice to hear of your adventures. We’ve missed you! Happy entertaining!

  • escribacat : Write me an email, AB. You still have my email? August!

  • MilesLong : Nice meeting you, AB…

  • escribacat : OH, yeah, I remember that. I couldn’t figure out how to do that. I remember some person with too much time on their hands would draw a picture with “X’s” that said Fuck You.

  • AlphaBitch : I thought I recognized you Miles!

  • AlphaBitch : Well peeps. Past my bedtime. Gotta get up. Another guest tomorrow. What I say: another day, another Afghan.

  • MilesLong : Okay, actually this is my real name. I was named after a porn star when my folks saw me at birth. I have to write under something completely different… {sigh}

  • AdLib : Escrib, can’t do it in Vox but remember how we would write horizontally at HP to escape moderation? That was pretty funny.

  • escribacat : I mean he11.

  • escribacat : My favorite was when you made a comment that included a word from the story or the headline and it would go to pending hell.

  • choicelady : Miles – that’s fine. I can do this.

  • escribacat : S p a c e s between letters always worked too.

  • choicelady : AdLib – THAT is funny and wonderful!

  • MilesLong : CL: I’m on FB under this same identity.

  • escribacat : Aha.

  • AdLib : escrib – My trick was using a lower case “l” for an “i” and in their font, it didn’t look like shlt.

  • AlphaBitch : They lived in Telluride. She still does. Divorced.

  • choicelady : Miles -sounds like something my husband would very much like. We’ll figure something out to read it.

  • AlphaBitch : That’s right, Cat! And an Alpha one to boot!

  • escribacat : AB — which valley?

  • escribacat : You be-atch, AB!

  • MilesLong : I just finished the final volume of a speculative fiction trilogy that has a plot never done before. The last volume should be out by Sept or Oct.

  • AlphaBitch : Not me. I’m a fucking girl.

  • escribacat : Adlib, I used “feck” for years over there.

  • choicelady : Miles and escat – I also have written historical non fiction and keep it to myself! You’re right – one cannot be too careful these days

  • AdLib : Escrib – It can take a while for people accustomed to the moderating at HP to type words like assholes and fuck correctly. We do have a Cursing Auto-Dictionary (I originally spelled “fuck” with an “o”).

  • AlphaBitch : I bought one of Cat’s books; read it and then gave it to some people in the valley she had written about.

  • escribacat : Via Adlib.

  • MilesLong : Is there any mechanism here for private communication between members?

  • escribacat : Miles, I’m a writer too. Very important to me to keep my political alter-ego separated from my books/blog.

  • AlphaBitch : Understood. But still….it would be fun. genre?

  • MilesLong : I’m careful with my books because all I need is for someone to get a bug up their ass and dump a lot of bad reviews on Amazon, etc because I spanked them online.

  • escribacat : AB YEP. or ach pee.

  • AlphaBitch : Cat: Like *ssh*oles?

  • AlphaBitch : Cat: Ha!

  • escribacat : At least we don’t have to use st00pid spellings here.

  • AlphaBitch : Miles: is that your nom de plume? Or is there another way to find your books?

  • MilesLong : AL: Not bad though. I used to work in the area.

  • escribacat : Ad, I can’t believe you wrote the whole thing!

  • choicelady : AdLib – we’ll pretend, yes.

  • AdLib : CL – Yes, we call it the Supercalifragili sticexpialidocio us Jar…damn it! I did it again. Okay, pretend I moderated this comment too!

  • choicelady : Miles – but I was at UI at Chicago circle. Not nearly as cool.

  • MilesLong : First night with the new fingers…damn f-ed up fit!

  • choicelady : Miles – I know Hyde Park. Lots of my parents’ friends lived there. Love the area.

  • MilesLong : I meant CL.

  • MilesLong : AC: I grew up in Hyde Park!

  • MilesLong : B: My account is still live. But I haven’t logged in since Sunday. I just cruise the site doing surveys.

  • choicelady : Miles – I’m from Chicago and just there at UIC last weekend for a conference. Too damned hot but fun to be back.

  • Sabreen60 : BBL

  • choicelady : AdLib – Yup. Is there a long-word jar where we have to put money for being pretentious? Like a ‘swear word’ jar?

  • AlphaBitch : I’m always half asleep and blind by fatigue when I arrive. God knows what I have actually typed…..

  • MilesLong : AB: Almost. Was in line to be head digital creative at one of the firms here in Chicago but the sale fell through. I write novels and screenplays.

  • Beatlex : Miles Long, did you leave HP?

  • AdLib : CL – That’s why I said “Damn it!”! Now I have to moderate myself!

  • Sabreen60 : CL, As I said I’m no gluten-free, no dairy, no sugar, now white rice or white potatoes. It is really limiting. But one must do what one must do.

  • AlphaBitch : Nice choice of simple words there Miles!

  • MilesLong : AB: Why thank you kindly!

  • AlphaBitch : So you in advertising Miles?

  • escribacat : Ad — oops. I better shorten my name too.

  • choicelady : AdLib – Scru pu-lous – ly. VOID!

  • escribacat : Same here, CL. Formerly pre-diabetic and high blood pressure. Now neither.

  • AdLib : Escrib – From now on, all words more than three syllables will be scrupulously moderated. Damn it!

  • choicelady : escat – my husband is borderline and pre-diabetic, and yes, low, low carb, no problems anymore.

  • escribacat : Bummer, sabreen. :(

  • choicelady : Ooooo Sabreen – that’s AWFUL. Nuts are a staple with me. But there are so many other things I can’t eat. It’s pretty dismal.

  • AlphaBitch : Miles I particularly liked your use of “feckless”.

  • escribacat : CL — I eat low carb. I was able to get all my numbers into the right range after changing to low carb.

  • choicelady : escat – not gluten but grains other than corn and rice. Very limiting. We have started quasi Paleo, but it’s pretty complicated. Easier just NOT to eat grains than to make bread from almond flour. So that’s where we go.

  • AlphaBitch : Rut ro, Miles….

  • Sabreen60 : CL, Oh please don’t. I’m so allergic to tree nuts it is nutz. If someone wanted to off me just put a cashew in my food.

  • escribacat : Adlib, you must put all big words on the “pending” list!

  • MilesLong : AB: What can I say, I’m a wordsmith!

  • AdLib : CL – Ah yes, the Deli Death Panel! Make my death a Reuben!

  • AlphaBitch : Ad, Miles is using big words.

  • choicelady : AdLib – I thought that confirmed Whoreanna for sure.

  • MilesLong : Anyway, let’s freshen the air around here instead of rehashing a feckless dilettante’s sordid life!

  • AlphaBitch : Yum. Egg salad. and you know what goes good with egg salad? BACON

  • escribacat : CL– is that a gluten intolerance?

  • choicelady : Sabreen – if I decide to commit suicide it will be death by egg salad on rye.

  • AdLib : CL – Just like her convenient “change of heart” after Obama was elected, attacking him like the enemy and claiming she was open to voting against him in 2012 (I’ll bet you that she voted for Romney).

  • AlphaBitch : Cat – I have no brain cells. SEe below. I cried out all my brainjuice and now have nothing in which the cells can float…

  • choicelady : AdLib – so many of the sites and faux progressive commentators have GOP or worse backgrounds. Scary.

  • Sabreen60 : CL :D :D One must laugh to keep from crying!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Miles! SNAP!

  • choicelady : Sabreen – THAT’s IT!!! My breakfast, too! Sisters of the “I can’t eat anything” mode.

  • escribacat : AB — I forgot that woman’s name who wrote a number of articles — she called her “whoreanna.” The yank who lived in the UK.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : I am just reading along…good to see so many joining in.

  • MilesLong : She’s just another immigrant who worships cash…

  • AdLib : Miles, when you consider that Arianna hired Andrew Breitbart to help her setup HP, that should say all that needs to be said about AH as a “Progressive”.

  • MilesLong : escrib: Done the research.

  • AlphaBitch : Cat: wasn’t that Whoreianna???

  • Sabreen60 : CL, You sound like my berries/cantalou pe, spinach and asparagus for breakfast.

  • escribacat : Miles — if you look at the history of PlanetPOV articles, you will find lots of juicy info about Arianna’s past.

  • MilesLong : Adlib: Very true.

  • choicelady : Miles – I always thought her ‘change of heart’ was a tad convenient.

  • AlphaBitch : Snapchat trumps side boob headlines anyway.

  • MilesLong : Truth be told, if you dig into Arianna’s past you find that she’s been a Right Wing tool from the start. She just pivoted to cash in on the growing Progressive trend and the fact that consumers from the Left are highly sought after by advertisers.

  • AdLib : Miles – Since AOL took over, HP has swirled the drain of tabloid rag and they’ll have a run for a while but long term, tabloids is not where the younger folks will flock to.

  • choicelady : escat – Hey – it works. Occasionally salmon, too.

  • escribacat : Roots, berries, and wine for dinner, eh, CL?

  • choicelady : Murph – I get that. I just don’t go there much since the dust up.

  • escribacat : Her career as “commentator” then. And one of the 400 or whatever that number is that only includes the most “important” people.

  • choicelady : Miles – I’m allergic to wheat and eggs, so wine is all I have left beyond roots and berries.

  • AlphaBitch : Miles! Pobrecito!

  • choicelady : escat – Arianna shot her wad running for governor in 2003. Her ‘political career’ is fiction from the go.

  • AlphaBitch : Cat: Their wish is granted. Yellow rag it is.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Choice- I do not DK content or about any purging or dumping. What I do like is the platform, its functions and services.

  • MilesLong : Damn! Allergic to alcohol!

  • escribacat : Miles — it looks like they no longer want to be Arianna’s mouthpiece for her “political career.” They just want to be a yellow rag.

  • AlphaBitch : Miles – sorry you had to see that. Rx eyewash. Or tequila.

  • choicelady : PPO – It’s morning there. I’m on wine. It’s nighttime.

  • MilesLong : A lot of what’s happening behind the scenes at HP is driven by AOL management. They consulted with one of my friends-former EVP at Leo Burnett-about content being king and where they think they have to go. I saw this coming.

  • pinkpantheroz : Getting another coffee! BRB

  • MurphTheSurf3 : S’cat…it is money that has driven all of the HP decisions…to continue to expand they have to have the capital to do it.

  • choicelady : Murph – here is good. Is DK better? I dumped them when they dumped ON Black commentators.

  • AdLib : ppo – Feels that way to me too. It is a bit astounding that HP could have such hubris, if this isn’t killing the golden goose, I don’t know what is.

  • AlphaBitch : Whew. Thought it was quite rude to bring up weight at this point….

  • MurphTheSurf3 : CL- I am spending more time here and now with Daily Kos….I am discovering that HP had become cotton candy in the last six months…seeming ly a big deal, in reality nasty fluff that makes you sick

  • escribacat : LOL “tall foreheads”

  • choicelady : Things. Dyslexia of the fingers.

  • AlphaBitch : CL: Thins?

  • choicelady : AB and PPO – I agree: HuffTanic.

  • Beatlex : I am sure the tall foreheads at HP have a plan.I don’t give a sh!t about the lot of them anymore

  • AlphaBitch : PPO: Like the Hufftanic. So picturesque!

  • escribacat : Murph that’s ridiculous. Facebook must have paid them a huge bundle for this boon.

  • choicelady : I’ve not gone back to HP for a couple of years. Got dragged into a couple of thins. Absolutely not worth it.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad….hah, hah.

  • AdLib : Murph – Just multi-threading with the fuzzies!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Mile- good connector….not going home with the one who brang you to that point.

  • AlphaBitch : Cat: I will never try to recreate that monster. Let it lie.

  • AdLib : escrib – That’s actually pretty funny! “Your Friend Liked ‘Sideboobs of Celebrities’ on Huffington Post!”

  • MurphTheSurf3 : AT HP….there is suppose to be an option not to post to you FB wall but it only applies to the first level of responses and you have to do it every time.

  • escribacat : AB — your Facebook account is still there. I deleted mine years ago and then returned several years later to create a new one under the same name. Everything was still there!

  • MilesLong : I quite happy with what’s happened at HP. That’s what they get for not going home with the one who grang them!

  • pinkpantheroz : Ad, it looks to me as if this Planet has become a precious lifeboat for the HuffTanic as it slowly starts it’s long journey to the bottom of oblivion.

  • choicelady : es – they SAID it was from public info on FB and other sites. I’m now on the TSA preferred flyer list which probably is a tribute to the fact I don’t do much on FB.

  • escribacat : I read your goodbye note, Murph. It was kinda sad.

  • AlphaBitch : I am FB free and happier for it. Although I do belong to the Twitterverse…. .

  • AlphaBitch : Cat – I deleted FB once my kids all got back here.

  • escribacat : CL — Exactly. Everyone is squawking about the NSA gathering data. Where do they think the NSA is getting the data from????

  • AdLib : Miles – I’ve seen HP’s numbers dip after issues with members but I think there will be a steady slide now, maybe not huge but I think they’ve just cut their ability to grow.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : S’cat ANd that is why so many have NOT CLOSED their accounts they have just walked away in disgust- a far more negative response.

  • choicelady : AB – OK – that I get and agree with!

  • AlphaBitch : Cat: Five is a very sad number. Unless you are five. then it rocks.

  • escribacat : AB — Huffytoons is now a front end for facebook.

  • choicelady : es – it’s things such as HP’s link to Facebook that make me know it’s not the government I fear. I’m not being stalked by NSA (anymore) but by Bed, Bath & Beyond.

  • escribacat : Miles — they no longer say how many comments on each story. It’s too embarrassing I guess.

  • AlphaBitch : CL: What is happening to PuffHo

  • MurphTheSurf3 : AND Ad Lib tosses ice cold water on the arm fuzzies by mentioning HP…..but am glad you did. HP looks like a ghost town right now and the wounds this time are festering and growing like a skin ulcer

  • MilesLong : B: Doing well!

  • escribacat : Ad — I realized something about that HP thing. If you make a comment now it feeds into your facebook page and also into the pages of all your unfortunate friends. Then, if someone else comments on the same story, you get a notification “XYZ has also commented on the SideBoob Story”

  • choicelady : AB – what DO you mean, time to flush?

  • MilesLong : I posted that I checked the comments on a number of HP stories and the posting is WAY down. And they are not reporting their traffic stats like they did in the past.

  • AdLib : AB – I have that sound effect here somewhere.

  • choicelady : es – I LOVE Port Angeles! That is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Lucky YOU!

  • Beatlex : Hey Miles! My old buddy from Horse Piss! How Ya Doin’?

  • AlphaBitch : Ad: time to flush.

  • choicelady : es – nope, always this ‘pawn star’. Glenn and I share it which makes figuring us out a bit difficult. No avatar because figuring one out is beyond me.

  • AlphaBitch : Cat will do if there. I’ll meet you one way or another!

  • AdLib : So what do folks here think the future of HP will be now that it has blown up its own blogging platform in exchange for Facebook’s?

  • escribacat : AB — Come out to Port Angeles

  • MilesLong : PP: You’re making me blush!

  • escribacat : CL, you look like a ghost. Didn’t you have an avi before?

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Miles, we spent time at the start unpacking the Bergdahl delusions of the right and then we got into a lot of feel goodism over events in a few lives here….we are in club mode.

  • AlphaBitch : No way Cat! We are spending August in Seattle!

  • pinkpantheroz : Yes, Escrib! We used to get folk confused. that is, until they saw that my entries were lousy compared to Miles ‘Always a good Entry” Long!

  • choicelady : Es – that’s for sure. But it beats the ‘pawn’ I have, though it’s not a bad resemblance overall…

  • escribacat : AB — I have moved to the Pacific Northwest!!

  • MilesLong : {wink}

  • escribacat : CL, one looks more serious than the other.

  • AlphaBitch : I will EM you.

  • AlphaBitch : Cat – coming to Pagosa with the Hard Head boy this summer if all goes well.

  • choicelady : Es – they don’t look a thing alike other than being pink, do they?

  • MilesLong : Although, that’s really dating me…

  • AlphaBitch : Miles: At least it’s not homely….

  • escribacat : Oh, I remember Compuserve. Gee, I’m old.

  • MilesLong : This format is like the original CompuServe Forums chat…nice, homey.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : S’Cat…oh, Gracias

  • choicelady : Hi Miles – welcome!

  • escribacat : Huh oh there are now TWO pink panthers

  • pinkpantheroz : Hey there, Miles! Welcome. I remember you from You-know-where. Hope you enjoy the Planet.

  • Sabreen60 : Hey Miles. You’re not from DC are you? We use to have MilesLong sub there.

  • AlphaBitch : Hi Miles. I’ve been long gone and just trying to fill in the peeps. Welcome to the Planet! It’s awesome here.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Miles Long- Taaaadaaaa!

  • escribacat : I think that’s ole (with an accent, no?)

  • choicelady : Murph! That’s a horrible pun! Thanks!

  • MilesLong : Glad to be here…

  • AdLib : Hey Miles! Welcome to Vox, nice to see you here!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : S cat…are Ole Timers Spanish Watch Makers.

  • AlphaBitch : So people can believe whatever they want about Bergdahl. For me, if I had seen someone run over an Afghan child and be callous about it, I think they would have been lucky if all I did was walk away.

  • pinkpantheroz : Hugs received ! Thanks. Adlib, I also hope our new friends get here.

  • MilesLong : {evening folks}

  • choicelady : PPO – we saw your name but not YOU. Glad you’re here!

  • escribacat : We’re just the ole timers

  • AlphaBitch : The dad and his two sons and me toured the capital. He would pause every place and read every inscription. “Truth” “Justice” “Honor” What wonderful things to have on government buildings he said….

  • MurphTheSurf3 : PPO- hugs and kisses! – we are being very clubby tonight.

  • AdLib : Waiting too to see if some of our new members pop in!

  • choicelady : PPO – OOOOOOOOOO hugs coming!

  • escribacat : ooo (that’s a hug, pink)

  • pinkpantheroz : I need a hug!

  • choicelady : AB – funk usually checks in late cuz of his kids.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : AB, yes, Funk of course

  • pinkpantheroz : Oi! All you giggling girls in the clique! there are other people here. I’m feeling lonely! :)

  • choicelady : AB – that’s marvelous – I’m so glad you’ve had this experience. I know UCC (one of my organizations premier denominations) and am glad you could take him there.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : AB- so rich, so powerful, so right

  • AlphaBitch : MTS: Not ALL if Funk is missing….

  • AlphaBitch : And then we went to church on Mother’s Day. United Church of Christ, very progressive. Lots of music. Focus was 23rd Psalm. He read every word aloud, he sang each word of each hymn, he said each prayer. He cried each word and so did I. What a pair!

  • escribacat : Trying to catch up on AB’s story!!

  • choicelady : Murph – that’s JUST what I was thinking, too!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : S’cat..first AB and now you…hail, hail the gang really is ALL here.

  • Sabreen60 : Hi Escrib!

  • choicelady : Hey Escat – wonderful to see you!

  • AdLib : Hey Escrib!!!

  • escribacat : Hi folks

  • AlphaBitch : CL: Yep.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Good night Kes…so good to see you if only for awhile.

  • AlphaBitch : Love you Kes.

  • AdLib : Night Kes, have a great weekend with your son!

  • choicelady : Good night kes – glad we at least touched glancing touches! Be well – see you in a couple of weeks.

  • AlphaBitch : Bye frennie! Hope I didn’t run you off. I just need to share with you guys. And y’all need a good story.

  • Sabreen60 : Good night Kes. Take care.

  • choicelady : AB – they separate people in DEATH??? How AWFUL.

  • AlphaBitch : He later went to DC and saw the Lincoln Memorial. He stated: IF I lived here, I would come every day to sweep this place out of respect for this man and what he did.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : ALL- I am just reading along. This is beautiful…I need some “beautiful” tonight.

  • kesmarn : Wow…I really don’t want to leave, but tomorrow’s an early morning, so I have no choice! G’night, dear friends, and have a wonderful weekend.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Welcome Choice- I have Bergdahl 2.0 in the planning stages.

  • AlphaBitch : But what really sent him over the edge, and what gripped me so tight, was his response to seeing a husband and wife buried together. You see, he is in a love marriage from the 1970s. He could not believe a husband could be forever beside his wife. In AFG, they won’t let you see the opposite sex once they pass and you are buried in a different location. We wept and held onto each other in a way I will never forget. Two souls, one feeling.

  • choicelady : Hi Murph – so good to see you, and thank you for your amazing reflection on Bergdahl. It’s a very thoughtful piece.

  • choicelady : AB – that’s just wonderful. Thank you for sharing the story.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Hello Choice…l

  • kesmarn : “God mend our every flaw, confirm our souls in self-control, our liberty in law”

  • choicelady : Hi Sabreen – glad as all get out to see you!

  • AlphaBitch : He read a quote from Abraham Lincoln that said “How can a man look at the heavens and believe there is no God?” Paraphrased. He wept more. So did I.

  • choicelady : AB – I’ve been reading a bit, very wonderful story indeed!

  • Sabreen60 : Lady CL! Was just thinking about you.

  • choicelady : Hey kes, AdLib – wonderful to see you, too!

  • AlphaBitch : Hi CL! Trying to get a feel good story for everyone here.

  • AdLib : Hay CL!

  • kesmarn : Hey, CL!

  • AlphaBitch : He read the inscription on a military plaque, all the verses to America the Beautiful. When he got to the third verse, he began weeping. Like an infant in a nursery, so did I.

  • choicelady : Hi – I see AlphaBitch is in the house! Welcome – GREAT to see you!

  • AdLib : So AB, what do you think of how Wendy Davis is doing?

  • kesmarn : That would give the NSA something to talk about, AdLib.

  • AlphaBitch : Got to cemetery, and dad asked if we could walk among graves. I explained you don’t walk ON graves, but between them. He wondered who put the flowers on them? I explained. He said “some of these people have been dead 40 years. And someone still comes to do this? How wonderful”

  • AdLib : AB – Good thing that the gravestones don’t have talking Google maps.

  • kesmarn : OMG! He’d never heard of that audible navigation thingy?

  • AlphaBitch : Cutest thing: dad was taken about when we got in the car and I used google maps to take us to cemetery. When it began speaking, he jumped out of his skin. When I explained it to him, he put his hand on his forehead and said: My God! What a wonderful thing!

  • kesmarn : Fascinating that that is what he chose to do. I sense he is not a superficial person…

  • AdLib : AB – Alpha Pup rocks! You must be pretty proud of all you’ve done to support him to this point.

  • AlphaBitch : The dad and I had two days while others worked. I asked what he wanted to do. He wanted to go to a cemetary and to a church. We did both.

  • kesmarn : Sometimes them Papist do some good things. ;-)

  • kesmarn : That is just awesome!

  • AlphaBitch : Pup is working full time, paying all his own expenses. Bought a car, paying for school, making straight As and working with Catholic Charities refugee program.

  • kesmarn : “Texghan mom”…I LOVE it!

  • AlphaBitch : Cool, Kes! So glad your boy is there. One of mine comes tomorrow. I am now up to #58, after Hard Head’s older brother insisted he had to have a spot on the list of Texghan mom’s babies and then he wants a girl just like his Mama.

  • kesmarn : So what is the Pup going to do next, Frennie?

  • AdLib : Very cool, AB! What a fantastic thing to share with Alpha Pup and what an experience for you!

  • kesmarn : Ah…the beautiful flatlands, Frennie. I love flatlands. I was in Madison this past weekend. Have the son here with me for a little vacation.

  • AlphaBitch : I am writing my speech for the DAR right now. Alpha Pup and I co-present in October. title of talk is New Beginnings (it IS Constitutional meeting)

  • AdLib : AB – That’s so wonderful to hear! America is being deep fried in hate by the MSM, it’s simple stories of compassion and humanity like that, that undermine the 24 hour hate cycle.

  • AlphaBitch : Nebraska, Frennie.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Kes- yeah itis me that is goofness right now

  • AlphaBitch : I gotta tell ya, I have never cried more. When asked what most surprised him about the US, the dad answered: The love that is everywhere.

  • kesmarn : Where in the midwest were you, Frennie?

  • MurphTheSurf3 : AB- mega congrats.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : BRB

  • Sabreen60 : AB is in the house!

  • AlphaBitch : MTS! I have to join in. I just spent the MOST remarkable week of my life in the midwest, watching my hard headed Pashtun Afghan boy graduate from college, and getting to spend time with his father and brother. No time for hate, just love.

  • kesmarn : I kinda liked the term “goofness,” Murph!

  • AdLib : AB!!! Where the hell have you been? Great to see ya!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : AB…I meant my goodness AB what a pleasant surprise. Tired.

  • kesmarn : Still SMS here, Frennie!

  • AdLib : Sabreen – That is what’s surprising. You’d think that a vet who understood war and even saw troubled buddies have to deal with emotional issues, would show at least some reserve here. Why does he need to hate Bowe and act as if he has no way to connect to him?

  • AlphaBitch : SMS Frennie!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : AN goofness what a nice surpise.

  • kesmarn : FRENNIE!!!!!!

  • Sabreen60 : AdLib, I said the same thing to hubby the other day. I said I bet you can stand on a street corner and ask the name of the VP and there will be people who don’t know.

  • AlphaBitch : Hey peeps! Can a bitch say hi quickly?

  • AdLib : ppo – That’s what upsets me (though I won’t allow myself to get hateful about hatred ;-) ), I know that many around the world have the misperception that what they see in the media is reflective of most Americans. The sad truth is, most Americans can hardly tell you the name of the VP, most Americans are very uninformed about politics and what’s going on so it’s impossible for most to be angry about most political issues…most don’t know much about them!

  • kesmarn : PPO, I think the problem of getting deeper and more accurate news coverage that you mentioned is on more peoples’ minds these days. So many are looking for alternative news sources.

  • Sabreen60 : AdLib, I don’t know what this guy’s problem is. He’s not very political astute. But I thought he was at least fair minded. He seems to believe Bowe is a deserter because a couple of guys says so. Never mind, that more and more information is coming about how poorly this command was run, the fact that Bowe’s friend was killed and the fact that walked out into the night with no weapon. Personally, I think he may have some mental issues. But anyway…supposi tion. BTW, the economic news is great!

  • kesmarn : It’s really sad, Sabreen. Maybe your friend resent the notion that someone could walk away from a difficult job and “get away with it,” but do any of us think he walked into an easy gig if he did walk away? He looks like he’s been to hell and back.

  • pinkpantheroz : Ad, You’re right about MSM not publicizing Good News as much as bad. But if you look at ot from outside the US one can be forgiven for thinking that way. I do know that there are way more lovers than haters, but the slant in the media is othewise. The problem is that people are growing up on 5-second sound bites and Twitter feeds. great for the I.Q., that!

  • AdLib : Sabreen – But wouldn’t you say this is reflective of blind hatred? Even Progressives can be guilty of harboring resentments that erupt as blind hatred.

  • AdLib : ppo – I don’t think that’s true, though. At the same time the haters are being spotlighted, the Moral Mondays, Raising the minimum wage protesters, etc. are not in the spotlight but are growing just the same. It is the MSM which LOVES conflict and hateful people…because they’re so entertaining! So their over-coverage of the hateful stories and people don’t show America in any objectivity. Most Americans are not as hateful as the many we see in the MSM.

  • Sabreen60 : AdLib, This guy is suppose to be liberal. But on this issue, he’s totally unreasonable. He won’t even say lets wait for the investigation. Nope. The guy is a deserter because some guys he served with says so. But these guys doing the talking are now coming under scrutiny. It’s all supposition at this point.

  • pinkpantheroz : Ad, a great take on the Hatred bit. The dumbing down of America looks to be gaining speed, dammit!

  • kesmarn : Thanks, Sabreen! I was wondering where I could find that.

  • AdLib : Sabreen – It’s a story that feeds into the one emotion too many people seem full of today, hate. They want to hate, they look for things and people to hate…because their lives have been made so difficult by the very politicians they support, they’re very upset. We’ve seen this in history, when people are oppressed, put a spotlight on others to hate and they are distracted from blaming those in power who are responsible for their suffering.

  • Sabreen60 : kes, et al If you get a chance The Obama Diary has almost full coverage of the D-Day events – video, photos and several links.

  • pinkpantheroz : Hi, Beatlex! I also watched the Ceremony at the American Cedmetery overlooking Omaha Beach. The Vets were all so happy meeting POTUS, Except for one Lemon-sucker who stayed seated and didn’t shake his hand. I guess we all know which side of the divide he sits in.

  • kesmarn : Especially when a “sovereign citizen” tries to take over a Georgia courthouse on the same day that D-Day vets are being honored, Beatlex. Could you find a person more antithetical to what those vets fought for?

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Kes- it the effort is to undermine Obama and his allies in a never ending cascade of crimes, misdemeanors and errors in judgement. Drip, drip, drip, drip….

  • Beatlex : Good evening one and all! One has to wonder what the Vets of WWII think of what has become of the Country they sacrificed so much for

  • AdLib : Kes – I agree with you, the long lasting story of an improving economy and job market will overwhelm this latest flash in the pan “scandal”.

  • kesmarn : PPO, I didn’t see the whole thing, but it was so touching to see so many 85-95 year old veterans there — being honored and recognized — as well they should be.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad Lib…To all you wrote: Squirrel! Yes.

  • Sabreen60 : I have a friend who is a retired army officer and he has lynched Bowe without giving it a second thought. I emailed him Jim Wright’s article (StoneKettle)and it didn’t make a damn bit of difference. As far as he’s concerned Bowe’s a deserter.

  • AdLib : Murph – But how does that BS propaganda (because Repubs supported bringing ALL our troops home before this) trump Obama’s decisions that actually affect these people’s lives? It’s just amazing howpeople are so easily distracted by propagandists from caring about the important things, all Fox needs to do is yell “Squirrel!” and they all look around, “Where? where?”

  • pinkpantheroz : Kes, I watched the whole thing. VERY French! But the best bit was watching the leaders checking each other out and looking at the Jumbotron to see if they were getting air time. I WAS very impressed with the welcome and deference given to the D-Day Vets, God Love ’em. It was good to do it now, because this will probably be the last time with the originals there.

  • kesmarn : Good to hear that you’re feeling better, Sabreen!

  • kesmarn : Hello to you, Murph! I think the Bergdahl thing will blow over just the way everything else has. What people will recognize is that 200,000+ jobs were created last month and Obamacare is working.

  • Beatlex : True Kesmarn,it has become so tiresome

  • Sabreen60 : Hey kes, It’s better. Thanks for remembering and asking :D

  • AdLib : Hi Beatlex! You said it! The RW just gets more disgusting every day!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Hello Beatlex and Kes and Sabreen.

  • kesmarn : If they start running low, Beatlex, FOX always has a huge reserve supply to refill them.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad- here s the message: Obama gave the terrorists five of the best guys back and we got back one of our worst. Is O stupid or a traitor. It is ridiculous of course….but simple narratives are the name of the message game in the propaganda wars.

  • Beatlex : It is amazing, the R’s never run out of diarrhea to spew out of their lying mouths

  • kesmarn : Hey, Sabreen! How’s that back of yours behaving?

  • AdLib : Hey Sabreen!!!

  • AdLib : Kes – How cool! Very happy for both of you to get to spend this time together!

  • kesmarn : Did anyone happen to see the side-by-side images of the Prez and Putin that the French put up on their Jumbo-tron monitors today? So funny. They could see each other and they both did some impressive eye-rolling.

  • Sabreen60 : Hiya Planeteers!

  • AdLib : Murph – It just seems a bit odd to me. People who now have health care because of Obama now dislike him because they disapprove of a POW swap? And then they’ll go in for a check up they otherwise couldn’t afford tomorrow?

  • kesmarn :  I will pass that greeting along, AdLib! It’s so much fun having him here for the week.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad- of the 7, 6 did.

  • AdLib : Hey Kes! Hello to Son of Kes too!

  • kesmarn : Hey, Murph! Quite an influx of new members this week!

  • AdLib : Murph – Well…I wonder if these people and those who think this is an anti-Obama issue, supported Obama in the first place. Might it just be an affirming anti-Obama meme for anti-Obama people. I mean, are people who support Obama really turning on him because of this?I don’t think so.

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Hi Kes.

  • kesmarn : Good Friday evening, friends! Just popping in to say a quick hello since the son is visiting from Madison, WI this week!

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad- it is part of the campaign to undermine Obamma and his allies and drip, drip, drip, it is working.

  • AdLib : Murph – Doubts are one thing but is this really a red hot issue to them compared with jobs and the economy?

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Ad…late today I had a meeting with key people in my coop…very moderate folks and 7 of 10 had doubts about the entire Bergdahl thing- freeing a traitor, a turncoat, a deserter..signed , sealed, delivered…no Beltway crowd.

  • AdLib : Hey Murph! Don’t suppose anyone’s surprised by Fox’s propaganda machine at this point. But outside of the Beltway, who really cares about these trumped up “scandals”? Most people just care about the economy and jobs and they don’t watch Fox. They’re preaching to the zombie choir.

  • AdLib : ppo – Maybe so…or might they revive “Freedom Fries” and proclaim that associating with the French is an automatic betrayal of America by Obama?

  • MurphTheSurf3 : Hi Hello All….today Fox barely covered D Day at all. It covered Bergdahl, Benghazi, how poorly Obama compares as Commander of Chief to….well almost anyone…the falling from the heights of the American military presence….AND also managed not to say a word about the job numbers or the continuing growth of ACA etc.

  • pinkpantheroz : grabbing a coffee, BRB.

  • pinkpantheroz : Oops Ad! ‘How can we live with this waster of taxpayers money going on Vacation to the South of France and trying to justify it by speaking in front of a bunch of dead guys!” (YES, I know where Omaha Beach is,, But betcha those RWNJs coudn’t find the real Omaha in a fit!)

  • AdLib : ppo – And McCain is such a fraud. He crashed 5 planes because he was a bad pilot and a showoff born with a silver spoon in his mouth. The 5th time he crashed a plane, he finally paid a high price…but he’s a hero, right?

  • AdLib : ppo – Either Colbert of Stewart showed a clip of Oliver North on Fox…attacking Obama for dealing with terrorists…mai nly because he didn’t keep it secret from America! My Iran-Contra! What a farce the RW has become!

  • pinkpantheroz : Ad, the Meme will be :

  • pinkpantheroz : Hi, Ad, Its just gone midday here in Melbourne. I can’t believe that a formar POW and, truth be told, not a very good flyer, either, ‘Crash’ McCain had the bold-faced effrontery to say what he said. No mention, I see, about the 1,500 missiles Saint Ron of Reagan gave to the Ayatollahs for those hostages. The Congress will never give POTUS one hint of approval, or assistance in getting through a law. We all know the reason.

  • AdLib : What will the RW meme be on that, “Obama is proving how anti-colonialist he is by celebrating the anniversary of D-Day!”

  • AdLib : ppo – Wasn’t that poignant? Especially today when so many dictators are flexing their muscles around the world?

  • pinkpantheroz : Did anyone watch POTUS, PUTIN, HM to Queen and all at the D-Day Commemorations? I did and President Obama had a wonderful speech and oratory at the US Cemetery above Omaha Beach. We must never forget the Greatest Generation.

  • AdLib : Have you ever seen the Right Wing so furious about supporting a member of our troops who’s been held hostage?

  • AdLib : Or morning?

  • AdLib : ppo – How are you doing this afternoon (your time)?

  • AdLib : Hey ppo! Thanks so much for helping our new members with Vox!

  • AdLib : Don’t forget to say “hi” or “Losing Face…Book” when you arrive!

  • pinkpantheroz : Ad, and guests, good afternoon! For our Brand New Chums, you see I put AdLib’s name up front. The comments come thick and fast, so it’s always good to have the addressee in the first couple of words.

  • AdLib : Vox Populi, our live chat about the week’s events begins tonight at 7 pm PDT. All members are invited to join in! Can’t imagine what we’ll begin talking about, maybe some of our new members could suggest something? ;-) See you then!
