There is light at the end of the Jihad tunnel

Posted by FrankenPC On December - 4 - 2009

A recent and incredibly relevant piece of journalism was published at CNN that I believe has not garnered enough attention.  The single most powerful terrorist organization (Lebanon’s LIFG) is proposing a complete re-write of the code of Jihad to include a peace settlement with all combatants.  The gist is this:  The terrorist organizations are being beaten down and are tired.  They want a way out that will benefit the entire Middle East.

This is a door of opportunity unlike we have ever seen before.  If we foster this intent, we could walk away from the Mid East and they could potentially heal themselves from the inside out.  Read on:  New jihad code threatens al Qaeda

Wow of course the MSM will be all over this right? I’m just kidding of course. No matter what entity is delivering information from governments to the media their messages all come with agendas. I guess I should be happy at least CNN picked up this story but it’s small consolation. Please keep us up to date with developments.

Ha! Yeah, the media are squeezing this story in between the hour long expose about progressive taxes leading to Marxism and Tiger Woods’ attraction to cocktail waitresses.

Shocker that this gets no play. Just like all the fatwas in the Middle East and South Asia denouncing terrorism got no play after 9/11, just like, no matter the Green Movement in Iran, the meme of no moderate Muslims standing up still prevalent. Cover your ears children, lest your preconceived notions be moderated by nuance. Why would anyone want to hear even a shred of evidence which challenges their absolutist view that not only is there a serious problem in the Muslim world with extremism (which there is, as is there to a lesser extent within Hinduism, Judaism and Christianity, too) but that Islam is an evil, fanatical, illogical and inherently violent religion incapable of such reason and compromise?

*Not to be critical, but this was Libyan — not Lebanese. I assume it was a typo. ;-)

I sent this out to our 6.5 MILLION members nationwide. I cited your comment, Tom Joad – what IS the sound of one fist unclenching? Thank you, FrankenPC – this is just amazing.

Now if we could get our own extremist Christians to stand down and remember the CORE values! They are so filled with hate and self-righteousness – they really scare me!

It’s really comical if you stand back. Both the Koran and the Bible espouse absolute peace, forgiving, and protection of the innocent. Yet, the extremists from both side do the exact opposite.

Thanks for the link, franken. What an encouraging story. Wouldn’t it be a marvelous thing if the Muslim world effectively fixed their extremist problem from within? In a peaceful way? We could cancel all these idiotic hunt-and-peck military adventures (Afghanistan) that we are now wasting so many lives and so much money on.

Of course, then we’d have to find a new Axis of Evil to keep the military-industrial complex greased. Back to drug runners?

I can’t believe this has gotten so little attention. My work is partly around peace issues – this is absolutely amazing, and I thank you SO much for bringing it to my attention! I will definitely pass this on.

Peace on earth. Indeed, Tom J – what IS that sound?

Also what a serious slap in the face of American foreign policy (or lack there of). A diplomatic solution. A peaceful solution. From the way this war (police action) has been sold to us, who would have thought that this was even possible.

It gives me hope, but it really angers me as well.
